Is there any books for children which contains Sikh Sakhia? I mention this as my little has been brought a disney night time book which has 365 stories, one per day, and it got me thinking, that the Sakhia that Sikhi has, could generate much more than a years worth.

What would the Sangat think of this idea? To have a childrens book filled with Sakhia and pictures, that the kids can look upto. I remember my mum telling me stories when i was a kid, and this would be ideal for this generation.

Any ideas of how to get this started. If there is a book aldready and I have wasted your tie, then im sorry.

I think there are some books out there i remember seeing a few on ebay but they are not very inspirational in my view they seem bog standard boring illustrations created by someone trying to make money on the back of all religious genre kids books.

There's the Bed Time Stories series (by Santokh Singh Jagdev) which covers all 10 Gurus with some additional ones like Sikh Warriors - these are based on Suraj Parkash and each Sakhi is in English & Punjabi....the English translations are not so child friendly so you'll have to improvise with the words.....still a great way to read Sakhis/History and tell them to the kids.

If you find anything more geared for kids then please do share the title/author.

I remember those Amar Chitra Katha comics! I basically grew up reading them. Fantastic illustrations and were easy reads for the youngsters. I tried to track these comics down on the web and they publish about 10 different types now but when I was young I must have had a collection of about 30 different comics on Sikh History and the Gurus! I spoke to a book shop in Amritsar and the said that the publishers have moved onto higher margin publications so they have reduced their stock to about 10 now. It's a shame because I have never been able to track down entire collection from 20 years ago. But the publishers do have a website so direct dialogue might be fruitful.

Amar Chtra Natak is the name of the Publishers!
