We Sikhs Are Not Great, We Are The Greatest

Recommended Posts

We Sikhs are not great, we are the GREATEST.

Maj. General M. Khan of Pakistan wrote in his book

'Crisis of Leadership' about the bravery of the Sikh

soldiers during the Indo-Pak war. Here are some

excerpts:

"....the main reason of our defeat was Sikhs fighting

facing us. We were helpless to do anything in front of

them. Sikhs are very brave and they have a great

craving for martyrdom. They fight so fiercely that

they are capable of defeating an army many times

bigger than theirs."

"....On 3rd December 1971, we fiercely and vigorously

attacked the Indian army with our infantry brigade

near Hussainiwala border.. This brigade included

Pakistan army's fighter Punjabi regiment together with

the Baloch regiment. Within minutes we pushed the

Indian army quite far back. Their defence posts fell

under our control. The Indian army was retreating back

very fast and the Pakistani army was going forward

with a great speed. Our army reached near the

Kausre-Hind post. There was a small segment of the

Indian army appointed to defend that post and their

soldiers belonged to the Sikh Regiment. A few number

of the Sikh Regiment stopped our way forward like an

iron wall. They loudly greeted us with the ovation of

'Bole-so-Nihal' and attacked us like blood thirsty

hungry lions and hawks. All these soldiers were Sikhs.

There was even a dreadful hand-to-hand battle. The sky

filled with roars of 'Yaa Ali' and 'Sat-Siri-Akal'.

Even in this hand-to-hand fighting the Sikhs fought so

bravely that all our desires, aspirations and dreams

were shattered."

".....In this war Lt. Col Gulab Hussain of Baloch

Regiment got killed. With him Major Mohammed Zaeef and

Captain Arif Alim also died. It was difficult to count

the number of soldiers who got killed. We were

astonished to see the courage of those handful of Sikh

soldiers. When we seized the possession of the

three-storey defence post of concrete, the Sikh

soldiers went onto the roof and kept on persistently

opposing us. The whole night they kept on showering

fires on us and continued shouting the loud ovation of

'Sat-Siri-Akal'. These Sikh soldiers kept on the

encounter till the next day.

Next day the Pakistani tanks surrounded this post and

bombed it with guns. Those handful of Sikhs got

martyred in this encounter while resisting us, but

other Sikh soldiers then destroyed our tanks with the

help of their artillery. Fighting with great bravery

they kept on marching forward and thus our army lost

its foothold."

"....Alas, a handful of Sikhs converted our great

victory into a big defeat and shattered our confidence

and courage. ."

"....The same thing happened with us in

Dhaka(Bangladesh). In the battle of Jaissur, the

Singhs opposed the Pakistani army so fiercely that our

backbone and our foothold was lost. This became the

main and important reason of our defeat and the Sikhs'

fancy for martyrdom and mockery with death for the

sake of safety and honour of the country, became the

sole cause of their victory."

Similar type of comments were made by Pakistani army

in East Pakistan under the leadership of General Niazi

while surrendering their weapons to General Jagjit

Singh Arora. The bravery and spirit of sacrifice of

Sikhs were respected and honoured by one and all. May

God rest the souls of all the fallen soldiers (Sikhs

and Pakistanis), in peace. Thought: "Sawa Lakh se ek

laraun, chirian to(n) main baaj taranun, tabhe Gobind

Singh naam kahaun" (Unless I raise one to stand

against many, cause sparrow spurn hawk, I shall not

deserve to be called Gobind Singh.)

Just one example of millions of our bravery.

BE PROUD OF OUR HERITAGE.

What we have read in Maj. Gen M. Khan's account of the battle is only a chapter in the long history of Sikh warriors. Since the 6th Guru's Sikhs to the recent Sikh Kharkoo movement we have many examples of Sikhs fighting to the end even when the Sikh knows he is fighting a battle he cannot win he will still go on fighting only to attain Shaheedi.

unfortanatly sikhs are losing this fire in them as the years go by, sikhs are getting weaker as time goes which is really sad

more sad is if india were to attack the punjab again sikhs would be in twice the trouble then they were in the 80's and 90's considering india buy's more weapons from the US then any other country and are signing packs with other country's like us and isreal to train their soldiers

Sikhs need to bring back their military traditions were each family sends one child into the army to learn combat

Stop generalising, man. Sikhs have and never can become weaker. We were and we will always be the strongest with the Grace of Waheguru.

I posted the article to inspire ourselves that we are the people who have achieve anything if we follow the path shown to us by the 10 Gurus.

This is not about learning combat and joining the army, it is about excelling in every field of life and leading the world because we are the SINGHS, who are The kings, borne to RULE with the power given to us by Guru Granth Sahib Ji.

China is a fierce rival to indias ambitions...it is more than willing to start a proxy war within indian regions aligning with its borders...and in my opinion will be more than willing to supply sikh revolutionaries with discounted modern weapons...after all china will surpass the US as the superpower of the world....its millitary expenditure will also rise...count my word ...they will be exerting their precense on india soon...

    • The Mind is Jyot Saroop (Waheguru), but the mind is under the influence of five evils… Through Naam Simran( Rememberance), the mind will begin to detach from evil, and get back to its original form ( MANN TU JYOT SAROOP HEH)… Until the mind breaks free from the five evils, one will go through the cycle of paap and punn….which leads to Karma… Naam Simran destroys past karma, and prevents new karma coming into fruition… I did this, I did that… This non realisation of the Jyot Saroop gives rise to paap and Punn, which in turn gives birth to suffering and misery…
    • I agree we're not born with sin like the Christians think. Also I agree we have effects of karma. But Gurbani does state that the body contains both sin and charity (goodness): ਕਾਇਆ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਪਾਪੁ ਪੁੰਨੁ ਦੁਇ ਭਾਈ ॥ Within the body are the two brothers sin and virtue. p126 Actually, we do need to be saved. Gurbani calls this "udhaar" (uplift). Without Satguru, souls are liable to spiritual death: ਜਿਨਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਨ ਭੇਟਿਓ ਸੇ ਭਾਗਹੀਣ ਵਸਿ ਕਾਲ ॥ p40 Those who have not met Satguru Purakh are unfortunate and liable to death. So, yeah, we do need to be saved, and Guru ji does the saving. The reason Satguru is the one to save is because God has given Satguru the "key" (kunji): ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਹਥਿ ਕੁੰਜੀ ਹੋਰਤੁ ਦਰੁ ਖੁਲੈ ਨਾਹੀ ਗੁਰੁ ਪੂਰੈ ਭਾਗਿ ਮਿਲਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੭॥ In the True Guru's hand is the key. None else can open the door. By perfect good fortune the Guru is met. p124
    • That's unfortunate to hear. Could you give any more information? Who was this "baba"? He just disappeared with people's money? Obviously, you should donate your money to known institutions or poor people that you can verify the need of through friends and family in Punjab.
    • Sangat ji,  I know a family who went Sevewal to do seva sometimes end of 2019. They returned last year in great dismay and heart broken.  To repent for their mistakes they approached panj pyaare. The Panj gave them their punishment / order to how t make it up which, with Kirpa, they fulfilled.  They were listening to a fake Baba who, in the end, took all the "Donations " and fled sometime over a year ago. For nearly 4 years this family (who are great Gursikhs once u get to know them) wasted time and effort for this fake Baba. NOT ONLY this one fam. But many, many did worldwide and they took their fam to do seva, in village Sevewal, city Jaitho in Punjab. In the end many families lost money in thousands being behind this Baba. The family, on return, had to get in touch with all the participants and told them to stop.  I am stating this here to create awareness and we need to learn from whom we follow and believe. It's no easy but if we follow the 3 S (Sangat, Simran and Seva) we will be shown the light. As I am writing this the family in question have been doing the same since 2008 onwards and they fell for this Baba... it is unbelievable and shocking.  This am writing in a nutshell as am at work on my break so not lengthy but it deserves a great length.  Especially the family in question, who shed light on youngsters about Sikhi 20 plus years!!
