Bush head of SP had an Electrical Shop in the 80s and 90s on Witton Rd , Aston (near a round about called 6 ways aston). Witton Rd is the main Road where Aston Panthers would congregate !.

Punjabi weddings where also held at a school in Aston inthe 80s regularly. i rember a sp wedding was held there in 88 in the peak of the troubles

in the heart of the Enemies manor at Broadway School (the schools still there)

Does anyone have any old newspaper cuttings from the height of the troubles in the 1980s/90's ?...........I think its important to keep an archive of our community's battles against sex-gangs / aggressive conversions - to show the rest of the country how to tackle these problems...........

OK, guys I've been reading these posts.

Hammertime seems to have hit the nail on the head.

I am quite older and now live on the Pacific in N. America. I was involved quite a bit with SP in smethwick.

Most of you guys do have the right story,- when it started out the intentions were to serve and protect.

At the SP meetings I would learn a lot, although the cases and mentioning of girls getting kidnapped and sent to pakistan seemed only a few in numbers- we later learned that many cases were never reported in shame. SP did predict the rise and warned everyone, including visits to many Gurdwaras and giving speeches for awareness and warning.

I remember plenty of higher authorities fobbing them off and assuming it was just hype and that we were trouble makers. Far from it, the trouble had already been started by the sulay.

What is happening today? Exactly, what the top SP members had predicted.

The unity was very strong for a few years, then members that were just 'street trouble' got involved, we needed the numbers then.

These guy's were in all sorts of violence and thus gave SP more of a street gang image of mainly monas There were singhs, but in brum about 30-40%. Most of the guys in the background doing the organisation work were singhs.

I try to not think about those days 2 much, as I was young, I was also mona- but now I have turned my life around and am 5000 miles away, No sulay troubling here, I'm not mona any more and am a very quiet, peaceful, non violent sikh.-the complete opposite to what i was- I have the ultimate guide, the Guru Granth Sahib Ji, and this gives me all the strength, protection and hope that I need.

I would prefer not to be talking about my youth and troubles with sulay as i'm completely at peace here and well away from infuences that cause me any anger.

One of the main reasons why I left UK, was cuz of the sulay. I didn't want my kids exposed to what goes on there and what I had to go through.

I understand how it feels for you guys there, I know the trouble these sulay cause. Islam seems to be running the show there in UK, it's a shame. If you did have something like a SP forming again- it's important that you try and keep it clean, ie No drugs,excessive booze and partying- Have a moral code of conduct, this way you would be seen as an organisation and get more respect.

I feel this is what went wrong with SP and why it faded away, a not so true image was cast with the newer younger members.
