Well, that's a natural consequence of the live in the moment lifestyle. Here today, gone tomorrow. Since you can't depend on "partner" staying with you for life, it's natural that you would also be "looking".

Better to leave than to be left. Game theory.

That's the entire reason for no-divorce Anand Karaj. 
 

But now Sikhs think they can break their vows. Obviously this will result in a selfish mentality between "partners".

That's exactly what this doctor says. He says the diseases prevalent today are simply because of changes in diet. Now we're aping Westerners.

This stuff is pretty simple. Our ancestors, the old Sikhs, didn't eat processed foods. They made whole foods from scratch. 
 

Guru Amar Das ji's langar didn't save any "beha" (leftovers) for the next day. Everything was prepared fresh. Flour freshly ground. No preservatives. Every fruit and vegetable in-season.

Old-timers didn't use sugar except for when guests were visiting or karah parshad. While avoiding sugar, our ancestors used plenty of good fats (ghio, full fat milk).

He also talks about the empty calories of alcohol. Coca-Cola calories are not the same as vegetable or ghee calories.

We need to rediscover our heritage, not serve Dominos pizza & cola in langar (yeah, they actually do this in California).
