hello all, I have dealt with very bad cystic acne since age 16 (age 22 now). I have used every medication on the market, all did none. I did one cycle of accutane when I was 18 and I had no acne for about 2 years. Now it has come back full force. I am not willing to do accutane again simply due to how taxing it is in the body. My derm is very puzzled and he claims he thinks it is due to sweat in my beard accumulating.... sounds kind of bogus to me. I have absolutely no acne in my beard, but my "T" zone (cheeks mainly) are always filled with ugly cysts. It is very painful and messes with my confidence when I catch people staring at them.

Now obviously I am not considering cutting any hair, I clean my beard everyday in the shower so I don't see how that would be a problem. I have extremely oily skin on my face, but dry skin everywhere else.

Does anyone have any tips that could help my acne? It really is starting to mess with my life

Drink plenty of water. If your drinking fizzy drinks don't. Instead have water it'll help you. Up until 2 months ago I had what my doctor called "bad" acne so he prescribed me some night cream but I refused to apply the cream. Instead started drink a minimum of 1 bottle of water a day, no fizzy drinks & only the rare sweet treat. Against all the odds the acne is now more or less gone thanks to water. Point been if it worked on what was classed as "bad" acne thatll only go away with medication/treatment then it could work for you. Good luck.

wanna see your acne disappear altogetha?

1) steam your face every night with boiling water in a tub and put your face over with towl covering so no air gets in, bout 15 mins a day

2) buy a herbal medicine call "neem", no side effects as it is a natural plant

3) drink plenty water and like above poster said stop fizzy drinks

4) exercise regularly

5) use natural face wash for example aloe vera face wash

As penji has mentioned, plenty of water but also a good diet, plenty of fresh fruit and veg. Also you might want to try steaming your face to help clear the pores of any oil, grease etc.

Keep asking your dermatologist to do more tests and investigate further until they start getting some idea of what's causing it.

Its hard to get the appointments, so make a list of questions to ask, that you think maybe related to it. Make a diary of your diet, when flare ups occur or worst times, any stress etc. And all the creams you use and results.

But be polite when asking for help. Sometimes we need to push the specialists a bit in order to get some answers, as they have so many patients and its hard for them to remember each one personally, that some things skip their minds, after all they are human too.

Also no harm in doing some of your own research from heath conditions sites or forums, just dont let all the information confuse you and focus on your problem without diverting into things that dont apply to you. Peoples views with similar problems could help, and take back any info you think maybe due to. But self manage your condition asking questions as not to offend your specialists as some dont like to be seen as unprofessional by patients. But others do welcome any info that can assist with your assessment and treatment.
