The problem is that when you have SGPC type organisations, they dont or cant say we support Sikh Freedom, or we support Khalistan. They leave themselves open when then asked about 84 memorials and Sukha and Jinda. Their fence-sitting is causing them problems. SGPC have never endorsed, rejected or said anything about Khalistan or 1984.

If that had been me in KiranJots place, i would have said straight, " the indian army is a terrorist army and murderers to us, in the same way that Sukh and Jinda are murderers and terrorists to you. You build your memorial to your terrorists, we'll build ours. "

I'm probably in the minority, but I am glad that the SGPC is doesn't comment on Khalistan or 84 or whatever. That is not their role. Their job is to maintain Gurdwaras, that's it. It's the Akal Takht's job to do the commenting and whatnot. The less the SGPC is involved with Sikh politics the better

In Nov1984 the Indian papers published false stories that Sikhs were poisoning water supplies in Delhi, killing hindus on mass in the Punjab to stir up the Indians to kill Sikhs. So it does not surprise me re the bias against Sikhs. Whats worse all these Indian intellectuals/ politicians etc never asked why the media had published these false stories.

Bhaji, have you got a reference for the newspaper that had published such news? Or anybody else?
