SADA HAQ MOVIE BANNED AGIAN

Recommended Posts

This is very worrying because this is the same sort of statement he gave before killing Jaswant Singh Khalra..

Where r the Singhs? Hw can he say such a thing on a national tv

Are we back to the '90s?!

Gill, Badal, Makkar should all be summoned to the Akal Takht for punishment.

Gill for the Genocide of Sikhs

Badal for promoting the killers of Sikhs such as Sumedh Saini and putting Gill on his channel PTC

Makkar for telling untruths.

Of Course a lot of the Congress , BJP and Communists have also been involved in the Genocide.

Do you mean to say that the Jathedaar of Akal Takhat has the guts to do this ? Really?

I highly doubt Gill is a Sikh in the sense that you and I are Sikhs. He won't be losing any sleep over such summons (which will never happen). To people like Gill, institutions such as the Akal Takhat Sahib are meaningless.

Of course, that's ignoring the fact the current-day Akal Takhat Sahib have no power to do such things, outside of issuing Hukamnamas which only the observant are aware of, and issuing siropas to individuals who don't deserve them.

KULJINDER SIDHU DEMANDS MAKKARS RESIGNATION

Jalandhar, Punjab: 8 Slamming Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) chief Jathedar Avtar Singh Makkar for taking a U-turn on the issue of Punjabi Movie Sadda Haq, Kuljinder Singh Sidhu, the producer-actor of the film Monday raised a demand of Makkars resignation from the post of president of SGPC.

Talking to Yes Punjab News, Sidhu said that Makkar has played with the sentiments of Sikhs by first hailing and supporting the film whole-heartedly and then taking a complete U-turn on the issue.

If the president of Supreme Religious Body of Sikhs behaves in such a manner, it does not reflect positively on the community. Either his decision to support the film was wrong or he is doing wrong now by defending the ban on the film. It shows that he is not capable of taking right decisions at the right time. I doubt whether such a person deserves to hold such a high post as a representative of the entire community, he said.

Commenting on Makkars statement that he has committed a folly by hailing and supporting the film, Sidhu said that if it was so, what was the point of installing picture of Sant Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale in the Sikh Musuem at Amritsar.

Blaming Makkar for dual politicsSidhu said that leaders like him earlier too betrayed youth of Punjab by first raising the pitch for their political gains and then backtracked for their own vested interests. Punjab and its youth paid a heavy price due to dual policies of such leaders, he said.

Sidhu said Makkar needs to clear whether he was Chief of a Religious Body or a spokesman of a political party. If SGPC wont represent the sentiments of Sikhs, who else will?, he said.

Terming Makkar as a slaveof his political masters Sidhu said that Makkar should have acted like a leader of Sikhs so as to ensure a respectable place in this history.

Sidhu said now when SGPC Chief stands exposed, he should cease giving statements about the killings and victimization of Sikhs in 1984.

Make it a point that we highlight the fact Sikhs freedom of speech is suppressed almost 30 years later as well on every platform internationally or nationally This movie is about exposing the human right abuses in Indian by Indian governement and this fact must be brought to light.

On a positive note, this ban has brought much more attention to this movie , so this movie will get more hits for sure

Abuses by Indian Government taan baad di gal hai, ALSI DHOKEBAAJ Andar bethe hai.

Well it's a good thing that's happening of distributing copies because they (govt) never going to have it released in Punjab anyway. I am sure that film cost will get recovered by foreign shows. So it's win win situation however I doubt that govt are distributing it because damage is more if young generation watch the true story movie and these badal clan knows that.

The govt wants the film to lose money so that the producers of this film or any others thinking of making a similar film do not take the risk of losing money. The govt knows that they can never stop the film due to the internet but they want that Sadda Haq should be a one off and other films like it should not be made.

US-based Sikh right groups to release ‘Sadda Haq” in English

By: Bharat April 9, 2013 12:40

New York: With a motive to challenge an unconstitutional blanket ban on the movie “Sadda Haq” by the Punjab SAD (Badal) Government, the US-based Sikh right groups have declared to promote and sponsor the release of the English version of the movie worldwide.

The film Sadda Haq has been a non-starter in cinema halls across Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh, since its release on April 5, as Governments in both the states and the authorities in union territory imposed a ban on its screening.US-based-Sikh-right-groups-to-release-%E

The movie highlights human rights violations against a religious minority in Punjab during the 1980-90s. It allegedly shows the police torture and other types of inhuman practices that were reported during that period. The movie has thus been banned from screening on the grounds of creating communal disharmony.

Sikhs for Justice (SFJ) have begun and international campaign in US and Canada to expose the genocide of Shikhs, and are therefore advocating to support Sadda Haq. SJF has also initiated campaign in support for the movie of Facebook, where they already have over 100 thousand followers (and counting) from around the world.

Massive international publicity in favour of the movie can be a reason that’s propelled the US-based Sikh right groups to lend support for the release of the English version of Sadda Haq.

Based on the global spread of Sikhs, we’re only really looking at 30% of the Sikh population who live outside of India. The majority 70% of potential cinema sales is lost income for the filmmakers if Sadda Haq ban is not lifted. The financial hit will discourage other filmakers just as the Indian elite want.

Our job should now be to lift the ban in India. Now is the time to use our contacts with the Sants, Jatehdars, Jathebhandis etc to add to the pressure on SGPC to revoke their opinion against the movie.

Thats true, if you see the timing of the ban( just a day before release), it was a pre-decided move by the government so as to cause maximum financial damage to the producers. I am pretty sure they had decide to ban this movie way ahead, they just implemented the ban an evening before deliberately.

This is to discourage any further such efforts of making such a film.

Honestly, I dont see the ban being lifted unless the producers win an appeal in the court which is going to take some time and is still less likely.

It would be a very good idea to release the movie in English. I think the Sikhs are doing a good job by going out with their families and watching the film. But next step would be to encourage your non sikh friends( especlaly goreh) to watch this film. May gift them DVDs when the movie is released on a DVD
