if someone downloads the guru granth sahib onto their phone or laptop should people still bow down and pay the same respect in front of the laptop or cell phone as they do to the guru granth sahib in the

gurdwara

or if someone printed out the entire guru granth sahib from the internet hole punched the papers and

put it all in a big binder

yes , it requires same respect as we give our gurusahib in gurudwara.

the same way paper is a medium to carry bani , digital media is same to carry bani.

same respect is required.

i am a penji not veerji lol....

:blink2: ok , we always thought u were our veerji , but nvm our bhenji :lol2:

why does the sgpc only get to print guru granth sahib

and whats the difference between how sikhs behave around guru granth sahib and educated western hindus behave with statues

they don't look at statues as god but pay alot of respect cause its the image of the god

an claim they use statues to stimulate one of their five sences to help them focus more of their prayer

A statue is a piece of rock carved into the image of some deity that may help you focus on God.The difference is though that certain people ''WORSHIP'' the statue As If IT IS GOD !!!

This is what the Guru's warned and advised us against.

The Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji is the highest reverence to God since it is the WORD OF GOD and hence it is called the 'SHABAD GURU"

Therefore, there is a huge difference between the Word or shabad printed on paper and the carved stone.

When a Sikh BOWS to the Sri Guru Granth Sahib ji then they are NOT worshipping the granth as others 'Worship' the statue.

We are simply bowing and Submitting our selves (mind, body and soul) to HIM.- Thus you could call it ''offering your head, mind and heart''

Aad Guru Namah-- I Bow only to the Supreme Truth/Consciousness

Therefore, the Shabad itself is FROM that same Supreme Truth/consciousness.

NOTE the difference between worship and bowing to submit and surrender to His Hukam.
