ok excellent but we should never let it makes us feel proud, please tell us where your pend is, so we can ask our pendus to follow this wonderful example, should not be too hard to make a phone call and ask for someone to pop over to you pend and inquire or attend one of these parchars.

Remember any seva one does is given and taken by Guru ji and we should not look down on others who are not doing as much as us, otherwise our seva is futile.

We all are where Guru ji wants to keep us.

there is some love and humility in there somewhere but it usually disappears when people criticise others, when they are not prepared to do anything themselves.

Sikhs, youths especially have got to STOP looking at the next man to do something.

we sikhs, especially the youths are far too critical of others who do sewa. not just on a panthic level, but on local levels as well. but ask them to get involved, and you just get excuses. I havent got the time, i have to go to a smagam, my massi's billi died...Im fed up with it.

Never mind about going to my village i can tell you right now, what we do.

We have a bi-annual katha lasting for 1 month, we have started a gatka class, and kirtan has been running for some time now. one day a week, the youths will do the Rehras paath. The general upkeep and cleanliness of the Gurdwara is the responsibility of the youths there.

Future project includes building a library in the Gurdwara, and introduction of Gurmat Sangeet, IF we can find a teacher.

These are all simple things, that you can do, although they are made easier if your village has a lot of people who live abroad, from a financial point.

like i said in the reply to your pm today to which you have not replied but choose to attack me again in public again, i am not criticizing any jathas or parcharaks, just badal and sgpc and also as we live in the west mids, like i have said lets link up and have a chat whenever you are ready, then we can clear up any misunderstandings we have once and for all ! otherwise lets agree to disagree and move on.

Hold on you aint doing nothing yourself, but do not like anyone who criticizes who knocks the so called leaders as sat veerji says above badal and sgpc who are probably doing less for sikhi and more for fake babas and wanted to remove a yaadgar to mahapurks recently or have you forgot and have done nothing to help our brothers wrongfully held in prision etc the list goes on and on, but you have constantly knocked and criticized our youth brothers here in many posts for not diong anything.

if someone called me a congress agent, i would be honoured, as the same accusation was levelled at Sant Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale.

I am NOT dissing anyone, but feel very strongly, that the Sikhs have too many commentators amongst us. too many talk the talk, but dont/wont/cant walk the walk. thats all.

badal and co are politicians, they want votes, nothing else. so why are we bothering with trying to change them?

lets start to work where we know we can have some effect.

I know that a lot of you would like to hear lofty ideas like we should build hospitals, schools, medicine centers etc. But that is not going to increase our numbers. The best way to do parchar is through parchar. That is what Singhs in Madhya Pradesh are doing. They are not building hospitals or free medicine centers. Yet people are becoming Sikhs. Parchar, Parchar, Parchar that is the most important thing that is needed. All the money is going towards Parchar over there. We in the west can atleast help them financially if we cannot go there personally.

Many people like the idea of sending money to Lybia or Haiti or other countries and say this is parchar, yet not one person has become a Sikh through such endeavors in those countries. Humanitarian work without doing parchar will not increase Sikhi world wide. But doing parchar, building a local Sangat and then doing humanitarian work will bear fruit. People will probably attack me for having such views and say it is wrong, but brothers we need to get out of the PC bubble and see reality. Parchar is the most important task for a nationless people like the Sikhs to increase their population or else we will remain in small numbers like the Jews.

Nothing wrong with having a pro Sikhi agenda.

It is indirect parchar as any seva performed by Sikhs in Sikhi roop has a major effect on the minds of those being served and those watching. I do agree that education at the same time and distribution of suitable literature (Bhai Ghanaiya ji) sakhi for instance will have a profound impact on their psyche.

Agree we need to work is helping ourselves more so than others as we are also in a crisis. Daswand belongs to Guru Sahib and it should be used to propagate Sikhi first and foremost and if we have more to spend on worthwhile causes then so be it. No other external organisations support Sikh causes; not the media, obviously not our leadership and we cannot rely on the majority of Guru Ghars as the pardhans are never full. Other faiths have far more organised fund raising means and don't have to go cap in hand like our charities do (the scene from Oliver Twist) springs to mind, and in the Uk the media is biased and frequently air documentaries about these faiths whereas I can count on one hand the number of Sikhi programmes aired in the last 10 years.

Once we have our house in order I'll be more inclined to spend my dhaan on others.

I recall once when I was in India in 2003 doing afsos at some MLAs koti and sgpc cronies were sitting in the baitak. So I struck a conversation with one about lack of parchar in Punjab, he was shocked at first and questioned what could they do ??? when I pushed him on the idea of printing literature and distributing in villages his argument was that the population would use the paper to eat chevra on so out of respect they don't bother. At this point I stayed quiet as it became a pointless discussion.
