Sikh Girls Marrying Muslim Boys

Recommended Posts

But one thing i dont understand is why do most the muslims sikh girls marry tend to be pakistani

Pakistanis tend to be on welfare low education marry there sisters as well dont have a history to be proud of

There ancestors were hindus converted by the sword

There is no one word answer for your question. Its a combination of various factors,

Its hard for you and I to comprehend why this is happening because we mostly relate these situations to ourselves.

alot of Sikhs come from single parent families where there is no father figure or come from unstable family backgrounds. These girls unfortunately just have not got that strong parental guidance that is needed and go astray.

Another is the population demographics of Muslims and Sikhs. I probably think that this occurs mostly in Muslim areas . Hence Sikh girls are going to universities and colleges around the country that is mostly populated by Muslims hence their frienship groups probably mostly consist of muslims I remember going to college and I was one of about 5 Sikhs in the whole college the rest was muslim. its alot to do with numbers. go to black dominated areas and what you will find is alot of white girls going with black guys. As there are hardly any white people in the area.

The result is and will be a whole generation of people that can do excellent path and simran but are extremely badly educated. Trust me, it is mostly at this higher end where we're losing most of our Sikh girls to muslims. Thats all happening while most of you are still mistakingly fixated with the lower end bad-boy types.

I'd never thought about it that way. Excellent post Jagsaw.

It's the same mentality you see with the women who marry prison convicts.

I can only imagine that such women encounter great difficulty finding a man on the outside, and so they feel compelled to make advances upon a man who cannot escape them and who is probably very grateful for the attention. Combine these feelings of overpowering loneliness with the element of compassion, and the result is as you describe veerji.

Before I say anything else let me state that I think it is very telling that we're making thread after thread about 'Sikh girls marrying Muslims' when the problem of 'Sikh girls marrying Christians' is 500 times bigger than this problem in America and Canada.

But, now this thread is here, lets contribute to it productively;

All this talk above about 'girls being attracted to bad boys' is a bit of a red herring. We all seem to be looking at the mirpuris of Balsall Heath, Bradford and Luton and the Bengalis of the East End and forming our judgements about all of them from that.

The reality, however, is that if you go for example to any Hospital in the UK and observe the student doctors etc, you'll see how common it is for Muslim girls in Hijabs and educated Muslim men to be there, and I'm talking about good decent muslim men.

What you will never find there however...NEVER....are dastar wearing Sikh girls. By and large we Sikhs have this problem where our dastar wearing Amritdharis tend to be uneducated types. It is almost the norm in our community for those that are not too interested or not too inclined towards study to go down the route of paath and simran. Our parcharaks don't help either because they like to quote Gurbani in justifying how it is futile to debate or intellectually discuss things. The result is that we now have, especially in the UK, a massive and growing young British born Amritdhari population of boys and girls but the common denonimator of most of them is the fact that they're not really into study but really really into doing path.

So, if you're a fairly average Sikh girl....not a bad person....not into drinking etc but at the same time not obviously that religious you will, when you go to University or start your medical placement etc, become friends with Muslims. Our boys in those places and in those situations are more or less into white girls and dastar wearing girls don't tend to be that eduacted in the first place. Therefore, you will work with, study with, socialise with and become friends with Muslims.

My point is that in my line, it is mostly 'sikh' girls that are very highly educated who are with equally educated Muslim men. In my experience the problem exists more in the higher ends than the lower 'bad boy - drug dealing' ends.

The root of the problem then, is our attitude and our parcharaks. We have this stereotype image of the hijab wearing Muslim girl being opressed and kept at home but the reality is that they, as a community, place an incredible value on education and the sciences and these hidden veiled women are reaching incredible positions of respect and power through education. We, on the other hand, have a very serious problem and its a problem that is going to haunt us in the future. Our problem is that our young who go amritdhari tend to be those that are not really that good at education and see the full-time path and simran lifestyle as a welcome alternative to the pressures of western education. The cornerstone of education is the willingness and ability to debate things....argue points....question things. Our parcharaks however, say Gurbani teaches us that only fools debate things, argue points, question things. The result is and will be a whole generation of people that can do excellent path and simran but are extremely badly educated. Trust me, it is mostly at this higher end where we're losing most of our Sikh girls to muslims. Thats all happening while most of you are still mistakingly fixated with the lower end bad-boy types.

I know of quite a few well educated Amritdhari couples that are professionals , so I am not sure at what extent the amritdhari population is uneducated. You are making them sound as if they are like the ultra - orthodox jews.

I also know personally of a Sikh couple who are both in medicine, one is a GP and the other one is a surgeon.

Of course, you will see more muslims in University getting educated as they move up the food chain. Ironically, the universities are also big recruiting ground for a lot of the radicalisation that takes place.

    • I agree we're not born with sin like the Christians think. Also I agree we have effects of karma. But Gurbani does state that the body contains both sin and charity (goodness): ਕਾਇਆ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਪਾਪੁ ਪੁੰਨੁ ਦੁਇ ਭਾਈ ॥ Within the body are the two brothers sin and virtue. p126 Actually, we do need to be saved. Gurbani calls this "udhaar" (uplift). Without Satguru, souls are liable to spiritual death: ਜਿਨਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਨ ਭੇਟਿਓ ਸੇ ਭਾਗਹੀਣ ਵਸਿ ਕਾਲ ॥ p40 Those who have not met Satguru Purakh are unfortunate and liable to death. So, yeah, we do need to be saved, and Guru ji does the saving. The reason Satguru is the one to save is because God has given Satguru the "key" (kunji): ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਹਥਿ ਕੁੰਜੀ ਹੋਰਤੁ ਦਰੁ ਖੁਲੈ ਨਾਹੀ ਗੁਰੁ ਪੂਰੈ ਭਾਗਿ ਮਿਲਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੭॥ In the True Guru's hand is the key. None else can open the door. By perfect good fortune the Guru is met. p124
    • That's unfortunate to hear. Could you give any more information? Who was this "baba"? He just disappeared with people's money? Obviously, you should donate your money to known institutions or poor people that you can verify the need of through friends and family in Punjab.
    • Sangat ji,  I know a family who went Sevewal to do seva sometimes end of 2019. They returned last year in great dismay and heart broken.  To repent for their mistakes they approached panj pyaare. The Panj gave them their punishment / order to how t make it up which, with Kirpa, they fulfilled.  They were listening to a fake Baba who, in the end, took all the "Donations " and fled sometime over a year ago. For nearly 4 years this family (who are great Gursikhs once u get to know them) wasted time and effort for this fake Baba. NOT ONLY this one fam. But many, many did worldwide and they took their fam to do seva, in village Sevewal, city Jaitho in Punjab. In the end many families lost money in thousands being behind this Baba. The family, on return, had to get in touch with all the participants and told them to stop.  I am stating this here to create awareness and we need to learn from whom we follow and believe. It's no easy but if we follow the 3 S (Sangat, Simran and Seva) we will be shown the light. As I am writing this the family in question have been doing the same since 2008 onwards and they fell for this Baba... it is unbelievable and shocking.  This am writing in a nutshell as am at work on my break so not lengthy but it deserves a great length.  Especially the family in question, who shed light on youngsters about Sikhi 20 plus years!!
    • Giani Kulwant Singh Jawaddi Kalan uses simple Punjabi.
    • Leaving aside Guru ji, the general question of taking afeem (opium) in limited quantities for war/medical wounds is simply unproblematic. When you go to the hospital, they give you morphine. What do you think morphine is? It's an opiate. Even codeine (cough syrup) is an opiate! Ever had a cough? Granted, it is against Gurmat to take opium or other drugs for the fun of it.
