Sunny
I guess I was wrong. What if you listen to instrumental music? Or songs that promote peace and respect.

Pheena
When listening to Bhangra It is how you interpet the lyrics. I listened to some songs of Gurdas Maan and he spoke much truth about our lives. Also understand that people are on a different level of journey. A point came where i used to listen to Bhangra all the time and then i stopped, not because i was told to stop, but it was no longer necessary for me to listen to Bhangra, but i "Wanted" to listen to Kirtan. It was not out of dis-like, but the desire was no longer there. It has to do with your internal progress as much. Thas my view of it.

khalsa mero roop
When you listen to AKJ keertan you would never want to listen to bhangra or Englsih music. Once you understand and have love for the baani you will never find bhangra iunteresting. So listen to more and more baani. Do ardas to Guru Jee Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Balwinder Singh
3rd Nanak very nicely and lovingly wrote: ay sarvanhu mayriho saachai sunnai no pathaa-ay. "O my ears, you have been created to hear the Truth (About Him, His praise, His dictates, His Name, Scriptures). saachai sunnai no pathaa-ay sareer laa-ay sunhu sat banee. "You were created to hear the Truth (God and about Him), and listen to the True Bani: the Scriptures that tell about God." jit sunee man tan hari-aa ho-aa rasnaa ras samaanee. "Hearing it the mind and body revive (Get rejuvenated, get joy), and the tongue is absorbed in the Holy Essence (Recitation of the Name of God)." sach alakh vidaanee taa kee gatte kahee na jaa-ay. "The True Lord is of invisible: indescribable, not understandable, great qualities, His state - reality, greatness, cannot be described." kahai naanak amrit naam sunhu pavitar hovhu saachai sunnai no pathaa-ay. ||37|| Says Nanak, listen to the Holy Name of God and become purified: holy, you were created to hear the Truth (Name of the Lord). ||37|| I hope it clears the command of guru and pupose of our ears.
