It doesn't make a difference, it may be a rebellion to Punjabi Maat, for reasons which I won't delve into, but yes there's nothing wrong in Gurmat.

There is not any problem to marry younger or older than you...

but If you get ur husband older then there are chances that he will treat u like  a child.

And if ur husband is younger then you have to ignore his mistakes...

"no" as in she should not get engaged, or "no" as is there's no problem?

In some states of the US, a sexual relationship between a 24 and 17 year old would be statutory rape.

As in, "It's wrong" from my point of view.

You have two different questions: 1) What does Gurbani say, and 2) Is it OK for the husband to be 7 years younger.

Firstly, Gurbani doesn't address the question per se, because that's not what Gurbani's purpose is. Gurbani is mostly about pure spirituality, not about various rules.

But that doesn't mean you should do whatever you want to do.

Secondly, it is generally understood in our society that the man should be somewhat older than the woman. This is for the simple reason that boys mature later than girls. This is actually written in some books of Maryada, such as that published by a Taksal.

Now understand you're free to do what ever you want. But you may want to think about what you're doing before you make an irrevocable mistake in your life.

So, friend, are you saying that once we adopt Sikhism, we have to dispense with all of the accumulated wisdom of the ages, and all that we possibly have to guide is is explicit injunctions of Gurbani, and anything not explicitly enjoined there we can do?

What could a 17 year old boy possibly have to offer a 24 year old woman in any meaningful sense on a mental and spiritual basis, aside from the obvious, lol? Yes, yes, there's always the diamond in the rough, but I'd hazard a guess and suggest this isn't one of those situations.

I just hope it isn't one of those teacher-student relationships.

    • well I wouldn't know. Nor am I amritdhari nor am I married. But I would expect that love and lust are two different things even when it comes to physical human relationship. Right? Or maybe both persons in relationship have to be at a high level to differentiate between lust and love and act accordingly.?  and if we are on this topic,  is it not lust to use a natural mechanism, that is meant for procreation, to get the pleasure, and at the end simply pull out (sorry for being explicit). Is there a difference between making love and fu**ing?

Waheguru ji ka khalsa waheguru ji ki fateh as I'm fairly new to Sikh really want to engage with kirtan ,so I wanted to know if anyone know any places or teachers around Birmingham who teach kirtan on harmonium (vaja)? iv been looking for a teacher or a gurdwara where they teach but iv been struggling and I really have a passion to learn so I would be grateful if anyone could guide me  many thanks  ,sorry for mistakes  waheguru ji ka khalsa waheguru ji ki fateh
    • One should remember that if one is a sikh of the Guru, and moreover Amritdhari, one's goal is to stay away as much as possible from the 5 vikars, and gradually with His bhakti nullify the mind, consequently the vikars. Our relation with Guru Jee and Waheguru is above any other relations. Why do not try and substitute kamee impulses with devotional thoughts and focused mind on the Lotus Feet of Waheguru. Give it a throughly thought bro... Saas saas simro Gobind. Try and love Waheguru. And you shall be ferried across the Mahabhavsagar. What else is then left to be achieved? Nothing.
    • Well I guess i would have to wait till I get married and see how it is then lol But I dont share feelings with anyone  not even friends or family Its safer to keep feelings and problems to yourself, at least I prefer it that way and deal better with it. There are some things I would have to share though.  Its difficult to open up with people, iv done it a few times and didnt like it very much. To much info out like that   I dont like it. And I dont feel comfortable with that.  Iv only ever once had a deep conversation with a female but that's because she had similar problems at home  so I just opened up as well    it didnt feel that bad  because she could relate.
