Why is our community so un-intellectual?

Personally I've always felt SGGSJ is unique in expressing distinctly sikh cultural values whilst not consuming to the exclusion of other traditions.. Gurbani sangeet traditions require shudh recitation of bani in very specific musical forms as handed down by Guru sahibs and Bhagats as written.. Multiple languages and musical formats are included.. Maharaj is unique in that way..

Why is our community so un-intellectual?

There can be many replies from different points of views, but frankly speaking, I do not think we are so un-intellectual. 

Of course there are exceptions as usual, but on the whole, we are not, though it may appear so.

Let us see, why?

Because in comaprison with the rest of the world, we are more spiritual minded.  

It is by great Guru Jee´s grace, that we are spiritual minded. 

After all, what is it to be intellectual?

Is it not to use the intellect in the right way to get benefits, goodness, being fair and just?

Then how intellectual are others, who seem to be so, but in the end, loose their souls in the well of the cycle of 84? 

It is by utter grace of Guru and Gurbani, that we mould our lives to their Hukum, do not complain, and live with contentment.

There is nothing more intellectual, to be and do  right, and become one with the Highest, everything else is manmat = unintellectual

why do people think that you can't be an intellectual and spiritual Saint Teja Singh was temporally advanced in studies and also he was spitiually advanced too , inspiring  many people into sikhi and building gurdwaras and getting sangats together under Guru ji across the globe .

ਭਾਈ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਕਿਸ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਸਿੱਖਾਂ ਕੋਲ ਬੌਧਿਕ ਸੰਪਦਾ (Intellectual Treasure) ਦੀ ਘਾਟ ਹੈ ਅਸਲ ਵਿੱਚ ਮੈਂ ਤਾਂ ਦੇਖ ਪਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਹਾਂ ਕਿ ਸਿੱਖਾਂ ਕੋਲ ਇੰਨੀ ਜ਼ਿਆਦਾ ਬੌਧਿਕ ਬੰਦੇ ਵਧ ਗਏ ਹਨ ਕਿ ਹੁਣ ਉਹ ਕੇਵਲ ਅੰਗਰੇਜ਼ੀ ਭਾਸ਼ਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੀ ਗੱਲ ਕਰਨਾ ਪਸੰਦ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ ਇੱਥੋਂ ਤੱਕ ਕਿ ਗੁਰਬਾਣੀ ਦੀ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਤਾਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਕੀ ਸਮਝਾਉਣੀ ਹੈ ਬਲਕਿ ਅਾਮ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਸਮਝਣ ਲਈ ਵੀ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਡਿਕਸ਼ਨਰੀਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਟੀਕਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਲੋੜ ਪੈਣ ਲੱਗੀ ਹੈ।
ਜਦੋਂ ਮੈਂ ਸਿੱਖ ਸੰਗਤ ਡਾਟ ਕਾਮ ਵੈੱਬਸਾਈਟ ਉੱਪਰ ਆਇਆ ਸੀ ਤਾਂ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਲੱਗਿਆ ਸੀ ਕਿ ਸ਼ਾਇਦ ਇਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਜ਼ਿਆਦਾਤਰ ਚਰਚਾ ਅੰਗਰੇਜ਼ੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੋਵੇਗੀ, ਚਲੋ ਕੁਝ ਹਿੱਸਾ ਤਾਂ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ।
ਪਰ ਅਫਸੋਸ ਰਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਲਗਭਗ ਨੜਿੱਨਵੇਂ ਫੀਸਦੀ (99%) ਚਰਚਾ ਅੰਗਰੇਜ਼ੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੀ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਲੋਕ ਅੰਗਰੇਜ਼ੀ ਨੂੰ ਹੀ ਬੌਧਿਕ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੀ ਭਾਸ਼ਾ ਸਮਝਦੇ ਅਤੇ ਮੰਨਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਦੇਖ ਪਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਹਾਂ ਕਿ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਨੂੰ ਤਾਂ ਕੋਈ ਗੌਲਦਾ ਹੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਤਾਂ ਇੰਝ ਦੁਰਕਾਰਿਆ ਪਿਆ ਹੈ ਜਿਵੇਂ ਕਿ ਇਹ ਗੁਲਾਮਾਂ ਜਾਂ ਦੂਜੇ ਦਰਜੇ ਦੀ ਭਾਸ਼ਾ ਹੋਵੇ
ਜੇਕਰ ਗੁਰਸਿੱਖਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਬੌਧਿਕ ਉਡਾਰੀਆਂ ਦਾ ਨਜ਼ਾਰਾ ਮਾਨਣਾ ਹੋਵੇ ਤਾਂ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਗੁਰਪ੍ਰਤਾਪ ਸੂਰਜ ਗ੍ਰੰਥ ਦੇ ਕਰਤਾ ਮਹਾਂਕਵੀ ਸੰਤੋਖ ਸਿੰਘ ਚੂੜਾਮਣੀ ਨੂੰ ਪੜ੍ਹੋ , ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਰਚਨਾਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪੜ੍ਹੋ, ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਕੀਤੇ ਜਪੁਜੀ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਦੇ ਟੀਕੇ ਗਰਬ ਗੰਜਨੀ ਨੂੰ ਪੜ੍ਹੋ, ਪੰਡਿਤ ਨਿਹਾਲ ਸਿੰਘ ਲਾਹੌਰੀ ਨੂੰ ਪੜ੍ਹੋ, ਪੰਡਤ ਤਾਰਾ ਸਿੰਘ ਨਰੋਤਮ ਦੀਆਂ ਰਚਨਾਵਾਂ ਪੜ੍ਹੋ, ਵਿੱਦਿਆ ਮਾਰਤੰਡ ਪੰਡਿਤ ਕਰਤਾਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਦਾਖਾ ਦਾ ਵਿਆਕਰਨ ਪੜ੍ਹੋ, ਭਾਈ ਵੀਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਜੀ ਦੀਆਂ ਰਚਨਾਵਾਂ ਪੜ੍ਹੋ, ਪ੍ਰੋਫੈਸਰ ਪੂਰਨ ਸਿੰਘ ਜੀ ਦੀਆਂ ਰਚਨਾਵਾਂ ਪੜ੍ਹੋ ਸਿੱਖਾਂ ਦੇ ਲਈ ਬੌਧਿਕ ਵਾਦ (Intellectualism) ਇੱਕ ਵਿਸ਼ੇਸ਼ ਸੰਦਰਭ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੀ ਵਿਆਖਿਆਇਆ (defined in a particular context) ਗਿਆ ਹੈ। ਇਹ ਗੱਲ ਧਿਆਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਰੱਖਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਹੈ। ਨਿਰਾ ਬੌਧਿਕ ਵਾਦ ਸਿੱਖੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਵਰਜਿਤ ਹੈ ਇਸੇ ਲਈ ਤਾਂ ਪੜ੍ਹ ਪੜ੍ਹ ਕੇ ਗੱਡੇ ਲੱਦਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਗੱਲ ਸਾਹਮਣੇ ਆਉਂਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਅਜੋਕੇ ਸਮੇਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਕੁਝ ਵਿਦਵਾਨ ਆਪਣੇ ਫੋਕੇ ਬੌਧਿਕ ਵਾਦ ਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਭਾਵ ਪਾਉਣ ਲਈ ਔਖੇ ਤੇ ਭਾਰੇ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਸ਼ਬਦਾਂ ਦੀ ਵਰਤੋਂ ਕਰਕੇ ਐਵੇਂ ਨਿਰਾ ਫਜ਼ੂਲ ਪ੍ਰਭਾਵ ਪਾਉਣ ਦੇ ਹੱਕ ਵਿੱਚ ਹਨ ਪ੍ਰੰਤੂ ਅਜਿਹੀ ਸੋਚ ਅਤੇ ਕੋਸ਼ਿਸ਼ ਦਾ ਸਿੱਖੀ ਦੇ ਮਾਰਗ ਵਿੱਚ ਕੋਈ ਯੋਗਦਾਨ ਨਹੀਂ। ਯਾਦ ਰੱਖੋ ਅਜਿਹਾ ਬੌਧਿਕ ਵਾਦ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਤੁਹਾਡੀ ਅੰਤਰਾਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਤਾਈ ਦੀਆਂ ਨਵੀਆਂ ਉਚਾਣਾਂ ਤੱਕ ਲਿਜਾਣ ਤੋਂ ਅਸਮਰਥ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਕੋਈ ਵੀ ਫਾਇਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਚਾਹੇ ਉਸ ਨਾਲ ਦੁਨਿਆਵੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਜਿੰਨੀ ਮਰਜ਼ੀ ਮਿਲ ਜਾਵੇ ਇਹ ਗੱਲ ਯਕੀਨੀ ਹੈ।

ਉਮੀਦ ਹੈ ਇਸ ਛੋਟੇ ਜਿਹੇ ਲੇਖ ਨੂੰ ਪੜ੍ਹ ਕੇ ਕੁਝ ਸੱਜਣ ਇਸ ਵੈੱਬਸਾਈਟ ਉੱਪਰ ਵੀ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਲਿਖਣ ਦਾ ਯਤਨ ਕਰਨਗੇ ਅਤੇ ਇਸ ਵੈੱਬਸਾਈਟ ਨੂੰ ਬਣਾਉਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਸੱਜਣ ਵੀ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਨੂੰ ਬਣਦੀ ਥਾਂ ਦੇਣਗੇ ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਹੁਣ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਟਾਈਪ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਸਾਫ਼ਟਵੇਅਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਕੋਈ ਘਾਟ ਨਹੀਂ ਰਹੀ।
