Well it contradicts the Quran which says that Allah is all knowing, clearly Allah wasn't up to scratch and all knowing with biology. Its not just a cultural practice but Allah and Islam allows Muslims to marry their cousins.

I wounder if Punjabi Muslims married their cousins pre partition, when they used to live among Punjabi Sikhs and Hindus?If they did imagine how disgusted the Singhs and Hindus must of been!  We don't even get married to women from the same pind or same family name because we consider them our sisters
