Vaaheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa!

Vaaheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!!

I am aware that in sikhee, if an amritdhari singh/kaur commits an error, he/she is liable to get 'pesh' and retake amrit. However, what happens if that particular person continually commits kuraihts and uses the idea of retaking amrit as an excuse to commit these kuraihts?e.g. when confronted about the wrongdoings, the person-in-question simply says oh i can juz retake amrit and all my sins will be forgiven.

Doesn't that negate the purpose of amrit and being amritdharee? Isn't that person turning amrit into a license to commit wrongdoings? Whats the sangat's view on this?

hmm very deep topic though.. but good one.. never thought of this before.. :T:

Well i can say that today we take the meaning of "Amrit" in a very wrong direction..

e.g. when confronted about the wrongdoings, the person-in-question simply says oh i can juz retake amrit and all my sins will be forgiven.

I would say that it's pure ritual if one say.. "I will take amrit again so that my sins will be forgiven".. NO sins will be forgiven, he/she won't go that easy.. ONE has to follow the "Amrit" path seriously with pure heart.. If one follow amrit just to cleanse the sins of his/her life, then it's of no use.. One has to work hard for it.. It's like the ball and one has to work to go and fetch the ball.. ball ain't coming right to the person..

I agree with Vicky, that while you are amritdhari, you can't commit any sins, that's the whole purpose of taking amrit. By breaking certain rules, you've broken your promise to your Guru, and will get punished for it (depending on the circumstances of what you did).

If one follow amrit just to cleanse the sins of his/her life, then it's of no use.. One has to work hard for it..

Totally agree! wubb.gif If you take amrit, and say "oh i just took it to cleanse my sins, and if I do something wrong I will retake it", taking amrit is more of a promise, and a form of dedication to the almighty-waheguru!!

Bhul chuk maaf! ^_^

Bhai Sahib Randheer Singh jee has replied to this issue in Amrit Kalaa. Those people who think they can violate a rehit and then say "amrit is still inside me, no one can take it away" are fooling themselves. Amrit was given on the basis of certain conditions. Amrit loses its effect if rehit is broken or not followed.

But peshee is no joke either. Someone is only forgiven if they genuinely regret the mistake they made and will not do it again. If someone is peshed for same mistake again and again, there could be a point where Punj Pyaaray refuse to forgive it and send person away.

If someone makes a mistake in rehit, then it's best to pesh before the Punj Pyaaray who will tell how to avoid it in the future and how to make up for it

Yes I agree with this.. but with each round of amrit sanchaar, the 5piarehs administering amrit are bound to change. So there is the SLIGHT possibility that the person-in-question gets off scot-free with his mistakes. Isnt there???

On the other hand, what if the 5 piarehs are under the impression that the person-in-question is a good gursikh who duz lotza seva and daan and naam baanee OR are weary about bringing the person-in-question to justice ??? What happens then??

*no offense intended. im juz asking this in general terms only* Bhool chook maaf.

So there is the SLIGHT possibility that the person-in-question gets off scot-free with his mistakes.

theres no need to bring worldly justice to a person who has done kurehits..

we all make mistakes.. but the court of law here is of the Supreme Lord Vaheguru's

HIS ways are unknown.. how God deals with the person is between God and the person..

saying the person gets out "Scot-Free" is silly talk.. we dont know that.. we dont know what the person wil go through.. so theres no need to judge them.. or hate them....

and we def. def. shouldnt condemn them..

the panj payare are Guru Roop.. but the ulitmate justice comes from vaheguru

as far as him taking advantage of Amrit.. or "breaking" his amrit.. well i dont agree with that.. Amrit doesnt break.. sikh breaks..

i hope i made sense
