waheguroo ji ka khalsa waheguroo ji ke fateh

Sangat ji, I am new to this forum so forgive me if I make any mistakes.

A couple of weeks back, I went to a kirtan programme and was really shocked and upset to see bibiyan with dastars wearing make up and the singhs flirting with them. Basically this was taking place during the kirtan and I could see these kids (well I say kids because thats the way they were behaving!!) texting each other and then smiling at one another!

The thing that breaks my heart is that they were doing it whilst sitting in the sangat where the kirtanis are (so right behind them)

WHATS HAPPENING SANGAT JIO???!!! no.gif

Where are the times where one would go to kirtan to gain laha and not to socialise??

And also being a singhni myself, those bibiyan really brought shame upon us singhnis;, they had nail varnish, eye liner and lip gloss.

I just feel so sad ... no.gif

bull chuk maaf

I agree with you and its very bad.. but its also bad to talk with sangata about others' personal lifestyle. If one something wrong then he/she should can do two things. 1) Talk to the person or 2) or else keep going on with your life.

In past i used to talk.. Hey the trimmers beard guys are this way or that but in fact i didn't have guts to stand and talk in front of em. So im like what's the point of discussing about other personal lifes when even I can't tell them or even suggest them in person that this is wrong veer and so on.. more like a friendly advice.

So how we can help our brothers and sisters to follow the right path.. Get involved in them, be part of them but without loosing your sikhi.. So let them feel on their own and naturally if one is nice and kind, then others definately follow the true path. Most of the girls are insecure, they want to be what majority of other girls in the society are and thus they ends up doing small changes thinking that their parents or other might not notice. So raise their self-esteem and push them to admit that whatever they are doing is wrong but only after we stop having a hostile type views against them  Sometime i have to keep control on myself when i see trim person or on.. It can be done only if we realize that all humans are equal no matter what..

nicely said S1ngh. And appreciate your humility which allows us to be honest and relate our tendency to judge. Just want to acknowledge this while i'm in a generous mood, cause the other times with trimmers esp. i will just say off with their heads! Ok, how about just hit them over the heads. or how about 3 chances and then allowing ourselves to lose control --- perhaps i'm reinforcing the gora stereotype with such phrases... shouldn't allow that, so off with the stereotypers heads too!

i can't find the right smily guy (i'll use guy, cause it's fitting that guys are simple enough to be just round yellow heads) to communicate the tongue in cheek thank you but frustrated tone here, oh well i take my chances.

i think if you mix this smily guy :@ @ with this guy ^_^ that's the one i'm looking for. Btw where's the sardarni clickable smily?

this world would be soooooo much better with more people like vikky bhajee around. i agree with his post fully. talking about such people on msg boards only shows you're equally as bad cuz u doing their nindya. if you're annoyed with them txting and "flirting"(as u put it), go talk to them personally and point out their faults gently and lead them on the right path.you're their bhainjee so you have all the right to do that. i'm not saying that these people are completely innocent cuz it is wrong to be texting while the service is in progress.

KSinghni,

I agree with your concerns, but girl, you spend way too much time looking around at other people, searching for faults and then dwelling upon them for such a long period of time.

There's a fine line between realizing that people are wrong and between judging them to a point where you're essentially looking down upon them.

I was once told by a Gursikh, that if you laugh, take happiness or even put down another Gursikh for no particular reason when they committ a mistake, that mistake will probably be committed by yourself, sometime down the road. I don't think you went THAT far, but you were still feeling quite negatively about what you saw.

If you saw people socializing... do what Vicky Singh said. Either talk to them about it in a kind, caring way or stop thinking about it! It'll eat away at your soul - all of the negativity, judgementalness, etc.

Most Gursikhs simply look at people like that and try to think the best. Don't get so down!

Cheer up! Guru Nanak's Sikhi will never be empty of true Gursikhs... and there are many out there - so don't despair.

Gurleen K.

Well the reason I bought this up was because I thought this was a discussion forum? But all of a sudden Im being told that I shouldnt judge etc.

Vicky Singh Ji, in an ideal world, one would talk to them an they would realise the error of their ways and change. My friend and I have actually tried confronting them but was told that it is none of our business. The reply I gave to that was that when I see stuff like that happening in the DARBAR SAHIB, I make it my business. If that makes me a fanatic or such then Im guilty.

As for just forgetting about it, well it must take a great deal to do that, a stage where this moorakh is not at.

Your point is valid, on the weekend I wen to an amritdhari wedding and saw bibian with dastars with make up etc.. and amritdhari singhs with gelled beards and it makes me sick to see this. I don't see it as nindya to discuss this issue as it is a serious issue effecting amritdhari youth and needs to be highlighted. What I have noticed is that we are starting to see a new trend, the same way we are all used to seing Singhs with trim beards we are know seeing singhni's with dastar and makeup. And I personaly have approached bibian that wear makeup and dastars and told them exactly how I feel.
