Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa!

Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!!

I've also had Muslims try to come and confuse me about my Sikhi. They always bring up is arguments of "logic" to try and confuse you. When you tell them it's your faith, they argue that you should question your faith and don't follow it blindly. Try to ignore these Muslims - they are only after conversion. But if they do persist, respond to them by saying that the reason why you cannot persuade them as to the correctness of your faith is because your Kamayee or understanding of Guru Jee is not strong enough. After all, the weakness is in us, not in the Guru.

The ironic thing is that whenever you question them as to the "logic" of their religion, they always again respond that it's their faith, and they try and change the topic.

Faith is such a thing that it cannot be "proved". It's needs Pyaar and Shardha to be experienced. Those that argue over religion are often filled with Ego to "prove" their point to others.

As regards to the Nail and Hair thing (this is the exact arguments that the Muslims tried to use against me), a scientifically-in-the-know Gursikh told me that nails are dead protein cells, which in normal everyday activity, would fall off. However, Hair is still living, except those that fall off when combing.

sangat great posts, especialy sher punjabi and $T33L-G. its plain and simple. your guru told you to grow your hair, so you do without argument. the guru never said anything about nails.

also, one of my friends said that the guru said "cleansiness is close too godlyness"

LOL.gif

we get this ALL THE TIME .. at our university (waterloo).

We had a world religion conference not so while ago and there were more muslims there than any other religion. We were outnumbered .. (also keeping in mind that the program was run by muslim organization).. we had nothing against anyone but some specific muslims were sent out (you can as a set mission) to go around to every different faith and argue wit them about their religion, confuse them and question them...

We played a cool though.. rolleyes.gif ... but seriously its very funny watching these guys try to do this .. i mean come on .. we do have the blood of our shaheeds from the past  ...

Sat Sri Akal:

Will take the easiest question... rolleyes.gif

Why do Sikhs wear a turban...well, if it is a Muslim brother asking that, the response should be why aren't you? Muhammed Sahib is quoted in the Hadiths saying that his community would not falter as long as it wore a turban on its head.

Sat Sri Akal:

Biblical references:

http://www.searchsikhism.com/turban.html

You will have to do a search for the word "turban" in the following pages:

Citation of Prophet Muhammed being seen with a Turban:

http://www.sacred-texts.com/isl/hadith/had07.htm

Citation of the dress of the Irham period. The dress prescribed is different from the normal dress, which is not worn during the time:

http://www.sacred-texts.com/isl/hadith/had21.htm

Citation of the Prophet Muhammed with a Turban:

http://www.usc.edu/dept/MSA/fundamentals/h...t.html#002.0531

Prophet Muhammed makes a command in reference to the turban and is seen himself wearing a turban:

http://www.usc.edu/dept/MSA/fundamentals/h...t.html#001.0147

Prophet Muhammed putting on a turban AND tying the turban on his followers:

http://www.usc.edu/dept/MSA/fundamentals/h...t.html#032.4009

I was not able to find the links to the Hadiths referenced in the Dastaar Article referenced first, but the others referenced here should provide enough proof that the Prphet Muhammed himself wore a turban and caused his followers to do so as well.

    • I agree we're not born with sin like the Christians think. Also I agree we have effects of karma. But Gurbani does state that the body contains both sin and charity (goodness): ਕਾਇਆ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਪਾਪੁ ਪੁੰਨੁ ਦੁਇ ਭਾਈ ॥ Within the body are the two brothers sin and virtue. p126 Actually, we do need to be saved. Gurbani calls this "udhaar" (uplift). Without Satguru, souls are liable to spiritual death: ਜਿਨਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਨ ਭੇਟਿਓ ਸੇ ਭਾਗਹੀਣ ਵਸਿ ਕਾਲ ॥ p40 Those who have not met Satguru Purakh are unfortunate and liable to death. So, yeah, we do need to be saved, and Guru ji does the saving. The reason Satguru is the one to save is because God has given Satguru the "key" (kunji): ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਹਥਿ ਕੁੰਜੀ ਹੋਰਤੁ ਦਰੁ ਖੁਲੈ ਨਾਹੀ ਗੁਰੁ ਪੂਰੈ ਭਾਗਿ ਮਿਲਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੭॥ In the True Guru's hand is the key. None else can open the door. By perfect good fortune the Guru is met. p124
    • That's unfortunate to hear. Could you give any more information? Who was this "baba"? He just disappeared with people's money? Obviously, you should donate your money to known institutions or poor people that you can verify the need of through friends and family in Punjab.
    • Sangat ji,  I know a family who went Sevewal to do seva sometimes end of 2019. They returned last year in great dismay and heart broken.  To repent for their mistakes they approached panj pyaare. The Panj gave them their punishment / order to how t make it up which, with Kirpa, they fulfilled.  They were listening to a fake Baba who, in the end, took all the "Donations " and fled sometime over a year ago. For nearly 4 years this family (who are great Gursikhs once u get to know them) wasted time and effort for this fake Baba. NOT ONLY this one fam. But many, many did worldwide and they took their fam to do seva, in village Sevewal, city Jaitho in Punjab. In the end many families lost money in thousands being behind this Baba. The family, on return, had to get in touch with all the participants and told them to stop.  I am stating this here to create awareness and we need to learn from whom we follow and believe. It's no easy but if we follow the 3 S (Sangat, Simran and Seva) we will be shown the light. As I am writing this the family in question have been doing the same since 2008 onwards and they fell for this Baba... it is unbelievable and shocking.  This am writing in a nutshell as am at work on my break so not lengthy but it deserves a great length.  Especially the family in question, who shed light on youngsters about Sikhi 20 plus years!!
    • Giani Kulwant Singh Jawaddi Kalan uses simple Punjabi.
    • Leaving aside Guru ji, the general question of taking afeem (opium) in limited quantities for war/medical wounds is simply unproblematic. When you go to the hospital, they give you morphine. What do you think morphine is? It's an opiate. Even codeine (cough syrup) is an opiate! Ever had a cough? Granted, it is against Gurmat to take opium or other drugs for the fun of it.
