This is something that has mulled me for a long time. Even though Ego is a vice and Humility is a virtue and you would think they are complete opposites and have nothing to do with each other. I have come to the realisation that these two are related to each other. I see them on a see-saw in that if one of these goes up, the other one goes down. However, I think the ego is another necessary vikaar (it does serve a function) because too much humility can make one like a doormat. These two need to be seen in their contexts and they need to be balanced like yin and yang.

I don't know what the answer is as I have heard many kathavachaks say this and that but they contradict themselves. If anyone has the answer try and back it up with a shabad.

Just wondering how sikhi parallels to the gods believed to exist by great minds such as einstein. Does sikhi concept of god the same as the one thought of by Baruch Spinoza??

How much importance is given to the Devi/Devte in Gurbani? He Created in the past, creates in the present and shall create in the future the beings including insects, moths, deer and snakes. ਦੇਵ ਅਦੇਵ ਖਪੇ ਅਹੰਮੇਵ ਨ ਭੇਵ ਲਖਿਓ ਭ੍ਰਮ ਸਿਉ ਭਰਮਾਏ ॥ The gods and demons have been consumed in ego, but could not know the mystery of the Lord, being engrossed in delusion. ਬੇਦ ਪੁਰਾਨ ਕਤੇਬ ਕੁਰਾਨ ਹਸੇਬ ਥਕੇ ਕਰ ਹਾਥ ਨ ਆਏ ॥ The Vedas, Puranas, Katebs and the Quran have tired of giving His account, but the Lord could not be comprehended. http://sttm.co/s/7429/75375 ਦ…

I never posted on the Gurbani section. But I am going try something, if nobody wants to contribute that is OK. One of the aims of Gurbani is not only to connect yourself to Waheguru but it should be how you apply it in your day to day living. People have a lot of mental issues these days and I think that Gurbani can help a lot of people to get themselves straightened out. I wanted to focus on how you have handled Krodh and how Maharaj has helped in this regard. What's part of Bani has helped with this vice and how Gurbani has been applied.

listened to katha about this a while back, but can't find the video now. I believe the story of the churning of the ocean is mentioned in bani as well. The Devte decided to churn the ocean to get amrit, the nectar of immortality, which was right at the bottom of the ocean. But it was a difficult task and they had to ask the demons to help them. Using a giant snake, a mountain and a turtle(Vishnu) they started churning the ocean. The demons complained that why should they hold the tail end of the snake? so they swapped and the devte held the tail end while the demons held the head, the exhaustion resulted in the snake releasing poison and toxic air towards the demons…
