Gur Fateh! I refer to the below mentioned lines from Jap Ji Sahib and would be grateful for the forum’s guidance on understanding the meaning behind this paath. The translation is the one provided by Sikhitothemax, however all together translations I have come across provide pretty similar terminology, it is the second line in particular that I would appreciate some guidance “The Guru is Shiva, the Guru is Vishnu and Brahma; the Guru is Paarvati and Lakhshmiâ€. Following from this, I would appreciate for any help in understanding the relationship between the implied trinity of the Guroo, the Guroo’s Word (Shabd) and Vaheguroo. guramukh naadha(n) guramukh vaedha(…

Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!! As everyone knows the Gurus wrote Gurbani in the language of the people. At that time Sanskrit was the language in which the religious scriptures of the Hindus were written and knowledge of Sanskrit was the sole preserve of the Brahmins. The common people could not read Sanskrit. Our Gurus changed all that by using the language of the common people so that anyone would be able to understand their teachings. Over the last 200 years but more so in the last 50 years many words used in Gurbani are going out of use. As Punjabi is influenced more and more by English, Gurbani words are being replaced by English words even in …

Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!! The Improbability of God by Richard Dawkins -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Much of what people do is done in the name of God. Irishmen blow each other up in his name. Arabs blow themselves up in his name. Imams and ayatollahs oppress women in his name. Celibate popes and priests mess up people's sex lives in his name. Jewish shohets cut live animals' throats in his name. The achievements of religion in past history - bloody crusades, torturing inquisitions, mass-murdering conquistadors, culture-destroying missionaries, legally enforced resistance to each new piece o…

Vaheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa Vaheguroo Jee Kee Fateh! i found this on another forum: http://www.tapoban.org/phorum/read.ppa?f=1...1&i=8758&t=8758 I know its quite long, but TRUST ME its totally worth the time.. Author: Admin Date: 01-07-04 15:33 Looking at the way Bhai Sahib Randheer Singh jee celebrated Poh Sudee Saptmee (Gurpurab of Dashmesh jee), it serves as a stark contrast to the present day. Even in jail Bhai Sahib and other Singhs had so much enthusiasm for it. When he was released, the famous Narangvaal smaagam was also on this occassion. Please read the Narangvaal Smaagam article for details. We too should celebrate this Gurpurab with such enthusi…

waheguru jee ka khalsa! waheguru jee kee fateh!! i heard this sakhi last night and can't get it out of my head...in need to share it with the sangath!! At Anandpur Sahib, people would flock from all over to get the blessed Darshan of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji. This Sakhi is about a particular group of people who left their villages and stayed at Anandpur Sahib to be in the company of Guru Ji. After some time, they began to cry all the time, telling people how much they loved Guru Ji, and how they can't live without him. These people would make quite a scene with their loud crying and wailing. Guru Gobind Singh Ji is all knowing, and he knew these people were putting …

The instrutor of a pink elephant diving school is in a dilemma. The instructor has to find a body of water for the pink elephants to practice in. The body of water had to be big enough to allow all the 100 pink elephants currently enrolled in the diving school to dive in all at once. So the instructor takes all the elephants to a pond outside the village. She tests it with just one elephant. She instructes the first elephant to dive into the village pond. The first elephant dives in. WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOSH! SPLAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH! There is much commotion! All the water of pond rushes out. All the frogs croak like witches. All the villagers grab their …

i feel that there should be a centralized database of powerpoints on several subjects in sikhism.. so if people need some powerpoints to educate people .. classmates.. or themselves they can get em quickly.. i know there are sooo many good ones out there... so we should start collecting them.. anything to do with sikhism what do u say? it ll take a lot of bandwidth but its worth it.. perhaps waheguroo network should look into it

One problem I find that I have is comparing myself with other people, it is just pure ego. I found this salok really awesome and I think all of us should take a look at it, even if you dont' have a huge ego like me I was reading one salok You have not forgotten desire, and you have not forgotten anger; greed has not left you either. Your service is useless and fruitless. ||1|| par nindaa mukh tay nahee chhootee nifal bha-ee sabh sayvaa. ||1|| By breaking into the houses of others and robbing them, you fill your belly, you sinner. baat …
