Vaheguru ji ka Khalsa Vaheguru ji ki Fateh Why are you so engrossed in worries? Why are you afraid of some one? Who may kill you? The soul is immortal; it neither dies nor takes birth. The present is here and now, the past is irrecoverable and the future will be good. Don't fret over the past and don't be worried about the future. The present is going on. Why do you cry? What did you lose? When you were born, what did you bring along, which has been lost? What did you produce which has been perished? It is here that you gained and it is here that you lose. The man comes to; and goes from world, empty handed. What you own today was not yours yesterday and will not …

Why you are the cause of decay -------------------------------------- By Jagdeep Kaur Ever wondered why youth do not come to the Gurudwaras? Where have we gone wrong? Why have we failed to encourage them to attend the Sunday Diwans, or particpate in religious ocassions? The reasons are simple, but hang on to your seats, you may not want to face the truth. To begin with, the youth have little understanding of what a Gurudwara really is. Their understanding is, that it is a place where we go and bow down to our Siri Guru Granth Sahib Ji, sit down quietly and try and concentrate on what the Granthi is reciting, or to understand what the Ragis are singing. Their mind is n…

Something really interesting that i got in the mail from a freind: At age 8, your dad buys you an ice cream. You thanked him by dripping it all over your lap. When you were 9 years old, he paid for piano lessons. You thanked him by never even bothering to practice. When you were 10 years old he drove you all day, from soccer to football to one birthday party after another. You thanked him by jumping out of the car and never looking back. When you were 11 years old, he took you and your friends to the movies. You thanked him by asking to sit in a different row. When you were 12 years old, he warned you not to watch certain TV shows. You thanked him by waiting until he le…

Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh I've been working on the following question for over 3 days today, and I need to find an answer. I haven't been able to find one yet though and now have registered for this as I have heard great things about the Gursikhs using this. I will appreciate it greatly if anyone could give me an opinion, facts or anything that could help me reach a conclusion. The question: If Sikhs aren't suppose to worship statues or photographs, why are there photographs/pics of Guru Ji's up in Gurdware? Answers received so far: - "Photographs help people gain knowledge on who the Guru Ji's were so I believe they are necessary" - Sanveer - "I di…

Gurbani says swjnVw myrw swjnVw inkit KloieAVw myrw swjnVw ] saajanarraa maeraa saajanarraa nikatt khaloeiarraa maeraa saajanarraa || Friend, my Friend - standing so near to me is my Friend! Have you wondered why is the term khaloeiarraa used? "khaloeiarraa" comes from "khalotha", which means to stand. An armed guard standing is always perceived to be on alert. A guard sitting down can lose his alertness in carrying out his duties. You may be sitting, standing, lying down, walking, running, or doing whatever. But your Guru is always khaloeiarraa near you. But how far is He standing? He is "nikatt" which means nearby or closeby. Tha…

Why do we wash everyday? Why do we wash clothes regularly? Why do we clean our house daily? Without doing the above daily , everything becomes unclean & unpleasant. In the same way if we don't engage in Nitnem , sewa , katha , kirtan , simran everday day our mind will revert back to the polluted and uclean state. That is why.

Hello everybody. I have a question regarding marriage I would like to ask and seek peoples views and opinions on. I am in love with a guy and he is also in love with me. We want to get married. Before asking my parents I want to address a small issue that may come up. My surname is currently Mann. The boys surname is Bahia. Before my grandma got married to my grandad her surname was also Bahia therefore all of my mums nanke are Bahia. If I ask my parents if i can marry him will this be an issue?
