Early last year there was much talk about water filters being installed to supply "clean mineral type" water to the sarovar at the Darbar Sahib. Having visited twice last year and numerous occassions in the past I did not notice any difference in the water. Anybody know if these filters have been installed and do they actually work ? The water in the sarovar looked the same as before to me (not that I was bothered or need "mineral type" water to take a dip at the sarovar).

waheguroo ji ka khalsa waheguroo ji ke fateh Sangat ji, I am new to this forum so forgive me if I make any mistakes. A couple of weeks back, I went to a kirtan programme and was really shocked and upset to see bibiyan with dastars wearing make up and the singhs flirting with them. Basically this was taking place during the kirtan and I could see these kids (well I say kids because thats the way they were behaving!!) texting each other and then smiling at one another! The thing that breaks my heart is that they were doing it whilst sitting in the sangat where the kirtanis are (so right behind them) WHATS HAPPENING SANGAT JIO???!!! Where are the times where one woul…

WJKK WJKF As a Sikh born, educated and working in Britain, I am only now begginning to become aware of 'subtle' racism rather the obvious physical and verbal abuse. For example when I was at school, I wanted to take O level French as an option but was persuaded not even though the my grade never slipped below A mark. My French teacher advised me against taking the language as an option. The excuse was while my written assessments were excellent but my verbal skills were lacking. Surely though this comes with practice and interaction? I speak fluent English and Punjabi and can understand dialects of Hindi, Urdu etc. At no time did I ever attend Punjabi school or classes …

Revising Matha Tek 1 2 3

Revising the ‘Matha Tek’ I’ve noticed many people have difficulty doing the full matha tek. Sometimes the Pug starts slipping off. Some older Singh’s have great difficulty achieving the full bend. When there is a big rush, it becomes awkward and difficult to do matha tek ( can be observed in Gurdwaras in India, and in Sri Harmandar sahib). My proposition is that we build a 2ft high platform like structure where we can place our forehead upon, instead of it being on the ground. The platform will be covered in carpet or other soft fabric so you don't end up banging your head. I’ve seen this in Buddhist temples and it looks pretty respectable and doesn’t take away from th…

Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh My taya ji and tayi ji from India came to our house today.. We started talking about my cousin who got married 2 years ago in Canada.. Anyways, my mom asked if her husband is sardar or mona and they said he's mona. Then my taya ji said "No one is Sikh today" (meaning no one is sardar in today's society) Hmm don't really know why I am writing this here, just thought I should share it with you..

WaheguruJi Ka Khalsa. WaheguruJi Ki Fateh. If you grab hold of the February edition of the National Geographic magazine, take a look at one of the lead articles which has a number of mentions about Sikhs. Nothing really of interest, but take a look anyway. WaheguruJi Ka Khalsa. WaheguruJi Ki Fateh.
