WEARING THE KALGI (PLUME) ON WEDDINGS by Daas Wearing a Kalgi (a plume) on one’s turban signifies that the person is a royal person, a king and a person with great responsibility and respect. Unfortunately in recent years people have been following the practice of putting a Kalgi on the groom’s turban on the wedding day, which is ceremoniously removed in the Diwaan Hall in the Gurdwara Sahib by the groom’s sisters. Is wearing a Kalgi in accordance to Gurmat, the Guru’s way? Could you wear a Kalgi on your turban and walk inside the Golden Temple and not be stopped by fellow Sikhs or sewadaars? Is wearing a Kalgi in the house of Guru Gobind Singh Ji, our King who w…

Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!! i found this on another forum and thought it would be important to share with all u guys... Singh's Pride Author: warrior*princess Date: 01-21-05 07:48 vaheguru ji ka khalsa vaheguru ji ki fateh I'm not really sure how to start what I need to say and have been wanting to say this for a long time amongst other issues that the sangat really needs to take serious note on. It may sound like a minor concept, but somehow it means everything. In regards to Singh's, my plea is; please be proud of your beard. Just the way a lion looks so brave and courageous, the same way the beard on a Singh makes him look beautiful an…

i just want to say that i dont have anything against gay people, but i think the new legislation in Canada legalizing gay marriages will have serious effects on the future, especially children. i found this article in the paper, i think it represents what all religions feel, even though its about Catholics. We as sikhs should not hate anyone, but we should stand up for whats right. These days supporting gay people and their rights seems the 'democractic' thing to do. I say we support their fundamental human rights, but lets not help them promote their wishes to change what a marriage is. I understand their marriage is about having hte smae rights as heterosexuals ie inher…

On this day in 2004, Bhai Joginder Singh Jee Talwara passed away. And after that, in the year 2004, we lost so many chardikala gursikhs... but we are still strong. Having a Memorial Page for them is sure not a big tribute, but it is just a small effort to keep their lifestyle alive in our society. They were our role models, and taught us great lessons. We owe to them and we will repay it by being more strong in our sikhi, and keep their memory alive in our community. SikhSangat.com Press Team dedicates http://forums.waheguroo.com/press to the chardi kala gursikhs of 2004 who left us for Guru jees sangat. We will keep the sangat updated on SikhSangat Press page once in a…

Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!! Sangat Ji, I was confronted with this question, however, because of the little bhudhi I have, I was unable to answer their question to their satisfaction.... The question was that Sikhism has many rituals, one example is Amrit Sanchar, and why we dont accept it as a ritual, but see it as an initiation... I tried my best to answer this question, however, I need help since my answer did not seem to be enough. Any help would be great. Thank you sangat Jee Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa! Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!!
