http://sikhsangat.or...choice-is-ours/ The Line is Drawn – The Choice is Ours Prof Darshan Singh Ragi is in the panthic dock for using derogatory remarks on the Jeevan and Banee of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Sahib. The case is simple and straightforward. He narrated a story which is claimed appeared in Sri Dasam Granth. While performing keertan at a gurdwara in Rochester, NY, Prof Darshan Singh claimed that a story appears in Charitropakhyan where Guru Gobind Singh Sahib goes to a prostitute. The prostitute tries to lure him. Guru Sahib contemplates that if establishes relationship with the prostitute then the one who will be born out of that relationship will only be a pimp…

As pointed out in another thread, the Ragi (Darshan Singh) is trying to have Youtube ban videos which portray him in a bad light. He is using the patently medacious claims of copyright even on videos that he has absolutely no right to (such as JUS TV clips). So, before he succeeds in his nefarious plan to clamp down discussion, let's download these videos, show them to other Sikhs on our phones, and also post them to other video sites. Downloading YouTube videos 1. Go to getvideomp3.com at this link: http://www.getvideomp3.com/ 2. Enter the Youtube video link. Like 3. Click Download. 4. Click "Get MP4" 5. Save the file somewhere on your computer. Play the vide…

Cant remember the last time anyone in my family had dastar bandi ceremony. For me it is a memorable time in any young boy's life. When i tied my dastar, my parents and couple of relatives in uk just did ardas at home and i tied my first dastar. i have two nephews who i think should be tying dastars soon one is 11 and the other is 9. But they are in india and teens there seems to wear patka until they are adults nowdays. So question is, do people still celebrate dastar bandi ceremony? Has this practise become less frequent in sikh families? I will be asking my sister when they are doing it cos i would happily fly back to india to tie a dastar on my nephews head. Also if…

Bhai Vir Singh (December 5, 1872 - June 10, 1957) is known as a ‘Maker of Punjabi Literature' and hence ‘The Sixth River of Punjab‘. He was a poet, novelist, editor, exegete, historian and a journalist. He was the leading figure in the Singh Sabha, the dynamic Sikh renaissance movement in early 20th century Punjab. The following is the talk given in 1960 by Dr. Balbir Singh (Bhai Vir Singh's younger brother) on the 3rd death anniversary of his brother. It is being reproduced here to commemorate his 137th birth anniversary celebrations, which are scheduled for December 5, 2009. Today, we commemorate the death anniversary of one who never believed in death. He believ…

Anyone else heard bout report of maybe 38k Indian students are in the U.K without accommodation. Des Padres. Punjab Radio has reported these students have been allowed to stay in Gurdwara for max 2 nights and given Langar. They apply at any college for any course i.e. any low level vocational, or any course they can get on. The student’s only intention is to find work i.e. Low paid jobs in chip shops restraints or wherever and to bring partners and families. They college accepts them as they will get high amounts of money from international students fees. I have also heard that some of these students have been sleeping in parks under trees in London. Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh Last sunday, i found a document heavily criticizing Dasam Patshah's bani, by taking lines out of context in a sort of poster format, It also criticized Akal Takth Sahib, Damdami Taksal and nihang Jathebandi's. The publisher was some "Sikh-e-forum" I at once could not bear the disrespect of Dasam Bani's and took it to the Pradhan, who is an Amritdhari Singh often speaking on stage about gurmat, and translates the Hukumnama of Guruji at the end of Sunday samagams. I questioned him: "Do you think this is right". his reply was "Sukhjeevan some people object to some of the content in Dasam Granth this is giving information" I attempt…
