Dear Sangat Ji, My sister sister wishes to marry out of faith and is causing our family a lot of heartbreak, she has a found a person on her own, in another country. and she wanted my blessings for her marriage. For me, I felt ashamed and said no, and told her, that if you turn your faith on Guru Gobind Singh, who are you to me. She had kept this secret, so I told my parents, Sangat ji, is there anything I can do. I feel my parents pain, and my dad is very sad inside. I THINK as children we have a duty to keep our parents happy and respected.si

Sister-in-law believes pakhandi babe and pandit
by Guest Gupt sad- 3 replies

Sat Sri Akal everyone, I'm writing to you all because the situation at home is now unbearable. My elder brother was married to a girl, it didn't go on well between the two and they got a divorce. My younger brother got married to a girl (from India) and she came at home abroad just a year ago. The issue is that she, and her mother, go to pandits and pakhandi babe. We did not know that. Any issue happens, they go see the pandit, someone fell off the scooter --> they go ask the pandit why. And whatever the pandit says (put a coconut during 9 days in some place etc, avoid eating garlic etc) they listen. My sis in law suffered from some allerg…

I need help regarding my dilemma. I met a transgender woman at a social event a few weeks ago and she told me I was very attractive and wanted to go out on a date with me. I told her she was a nice person but I am not attracted to transgender women. She then got furious and accused me of trans-phobia. A week after meeting her, she got a hold of my work place and started sending emails to my co-workers and boss saying that I am a pervert. What should I do?

I was wondering if any Amritdhari Sikhs have ever visited Six Flags Magic Mountain in Los Angeles and if they have were they told to remove their Kirpans? And if you were, were you detained and not allowed entry? Lastly were you patted down? Dhanvaad.

Size Of Kashara 1 2
by Guest Chandler- 17 replies

Friends, I have come across a question amongst my colleagues and my discussion partners. We have come to ask anybody who has the information regarding the regulation size of the KASHARA. I know that some higher ranking singhs where large kashara because they can turn them into a tent while living in the jungle. However some singhs argue that a smaller kashara is also sufficient for the duties it is intended for. Some of the bibian have argued that the size does not matter however we are the having mixed information regards in this topic. Some Singhs I have contacted in the European market have advice me that velcro is being used because of its efficiency and ease …

Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji K Fateh I wanted to ask something as I am not sure about it and was hoping someone can shine some light or knowledge on my question. Basically, I have a friend, who has really bad acne prone skin- like the acne she gets is really big, angry, painful, and if they do shrink in size (eventually) they leave massive dark scars that stay for months on end , sometimes possibly years! She has been trying so many natural skin products and cleansers but nothing has worked, but somewhat made it worse... diet is not an issue as she has a very strict and healthy diet (apart from the few cheat days everyone is allowed) and drinks plenty of water... h…

I would like to know the meaning of 'slander' as it occurs in Sikhism. 'Slander' it mentioned many times in the SGGS, specifically in Sukhmani Sahib. My understanding of what slander is, is saying untruthful things which are harmful to another persons reputation. But, I have some friends who think that even if we tell the truth about someone that we had a bad dealing with, we are engaging in slander. For example, if we had a bad dealing with an autoshop and they ruined our car & then we told all of our friends not to go there, would that be considered Nindia/Slander? Wouldn't we be doing a good thing by informing others so they don't have to go through the same thing?…

Sleep Problems And Amrit Vela?
by Guest Jacfsing2- 6 replies

Vaheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Vaheguru Ji Ki Fateh! Recently as I have been trying to stay on an Amrit Vela, I've felt some sleep problems, (before I was trying to start the routine, I hadn't been a strong person in GurSikhi, also having some strong-minor withdrawal symptoms of previous kaam problems), I want to know if anyone else has this a problem getting to sleep at night, while trying to wake-up early in the morning, and what I can do, (With Gur-prassad of course), to hopefully sleep at the night and be capable of Waking-up early at Amrit Vela, (sometimes I can't sleep until 12 A.M.) Vaheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Vaheguru Ji Ki Fateh! (It sometimes makes me feel weak that I can't wa…

Sleeping And Reciting 1 2

Might be a wierd question but it is something that I thought about after it had happened. Sometimes (when I say sometimes, I mean like maybe once every 5-6 months), when I'm asleep I kinda wake up. I'm still asleep, my body is still asleep, I know I'm still asleep. I know of nothing around me. I don't whether it's day or night outside or anything but I'm awake. Wierd to explain - bit like a lucid dream when you know you're dreaming and you can start to control it, except on these occasions, I'm not dreaming. Any way, I'm asleep and awaken gradually whilst still in my sleep. As I wake up whilst still asleep, I find my mind reciting Japji sahib. It's wierd, it's like a ta…
