Why Praise God?
by Guest Confused- 8 replies
- 1.6k views
I'm having a recent confidence in faith at the moment. Wierd for me as I was so firm in my beliefs before. Why do we have to praise God? I know he is everywhere and everything and is us aswell, that we experience God within ourselves- I know its not a God sitting in the clouds. But why do we have to praise God, to become one with him? Why would waheguru need us to pray to 'him', to say he is great etc, for us to become one. Why isn't being a good person enough.

Sat Shri Akal I have seen that whenever any Hawk OR Falcon stands on Nishan Sahib or come and stands near gurdwara Window some people start Believing that It is Guru's Baaj....How can they be so sure??I know we should regard Baaj or White falcon u can say as it was lovely bird of Guru Saheb but that doesn't mean we should start worshipping a Bird without any specific Reason??A White Falcon was always perched on Guru saheb's hands...... Do you think by these superstitions we are promoting Animal Worshipping in Sikhism as well??? I have seen many videos where a Baaj sits near gurdwara window OR somewhere on roof and people are so innocent that they start bowing to 'Baaj"…

On the main page of this very forum there are regular threads asking for the 'best ways to convert' others to Sikhism. I read them, but of course I can't post in them, and I wait for someone to ask why we need to spend time and energy converting others. That alternative viewpoint never comes, hence this thread. Now, it's really not that many years since I became a son of my Guru and since I have been every moment of my life has been spent trying to uplift myself to his standard. Trying to improve and cleanse my own mind, body, soul and actions. This is a never ending task and I really don't think the day will ever come when I will have achieved perfection and so can…

why use derogatory words in sikh.frustrated 1 2 3

its been quite sometime since i have been reading posts on sikhsangat.com referring to different castes by by derogatory slangs.I am sure the guys who mark such posts would refrain from calling blacks "nigger" for fear of "rascist" vibes. Sikhs say that the others being rascist to them when they call a sikh a taliban .But why do they fail to analyse their own actions when they refer to a khatri as "bhaaappe" or "bania' and a ramgarhia as "tarkhan",mazhabi sikhs as "churaas".When the other castes have not invented derogatory slangs for jats.Does it all imply that khatris, ramgarhias and mazhabis had absolutely no rule to play in the progress of the sikh religion. Have th…

I am sure most of you know the story about Akali Phula Singh sentencing Ranjit Singh to be whipped allegedly for marrying a Muslim dancer. Why was it on this one occasion that Ranjit Singh was deemed to have crossed the line? In particular, why was his general drunkenness and womanizing tolerated?

Sangat Ji I had a question from a guy i know, i did not know how to answer He asked at the time of the gurus why was no women appointed guru, why were they all men. If we believe a man and women and equal why did no woman get Guruship....? I am lost on how to answer fully, the obvious answer is it was the Devin will of Waheguru.....the ultimate , the none questionable .....my saviour! However this gentleman is not so convinced in this answer and i need to give him a fuller answer...I hope some one will be able to help me. Thank you Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji Ke Fateh!

VJKK VJKF, Sadh sangat ji I would like to share my dilemma and ask for your opinion. When I had taken Amrit few years back the Panj Piare explained the Rehat to all of us. One of the instruction was to consider all men as your brothers, sons, fathers etc (age based). I have been active in discussion forms and other social networking sites and had come across a number of people who had added me as friend. As per Rehat they are all my brother or sons. But I find some Amritdhari Singh’s who are hesitant of me addressing them as brother. They want me to call them by their name and consider them friends. They know that I am married then why they are hesitant? Aren’t they supp…

Why were all of our Guru's male? 1 2
by Guest sss- 14 replies

I'm finding it difficult to wrap my head around this. So I understand that Vaheguru Jee is genderless, but why is it that all of our Guru's were of a male body? Why not female? I always thought Sikhi was completely for gender equality but I find it difficult to answer my curious questions as to why I hardly see females doing seva in Gurdwaras unless their making langar, why the panj pyare are all male, and why our Gurus were all male? Also, day after day I am seeing that Sikhi is in fact no more better than Islam when it comes to gender equality. And another question. I don't want to know anything about women, but my question is simply, why do MEN wear a tu…
