  1. We have to be careful not to be used as pawns here. EDL need public support and they are bending over backwards to show they are not racist. However, those of you that wear dastaar and have a beard know how much racism we have suffered since 9/11. How many of you haven't had dirty looks, people laughing at you as you go by, someone calling you 'Bin Laden' ? Is this really a case of mistaken identity or is it a new form of racism directed at Muslims and any ethnic minority that wear outwards religious symbols ? Yes, they might welcome you at the demo for the publicity, but you all KNOW the reaction you would get if you met them on the street. At best you might get a dirty look or them calling you 'Bin Laden', at worst it could escalate to more than that. I understand that many of our brothers have had bad experiences with Muslims, but this is not the way to deal with it. We need to concentrate on building our own community and dealing robustly with any problems we have ourselves. If there are Pakistani grooming gangs exploiting our girls and the law is not doing anything about it we need to deal with them ourselves in the traditional Khalsa way :cool2:. Bring back groups like Shere Punjab. EDL are not just against militant Muslims they are against Islam. If they are not against Islam, why do they routinely insult their prophet ? Is this right ? There is a video on youtube of an EDL meeting where Tommy is holding a copy of the koran and the EDL are shouting "burn it, burn it, burn it". They have said that they want the right to insult religion....this will include ours. How do they think they will react to (to mention a few things...........there are many more) Sikh views on gay marriage, our outrage if someone insults our Guru Sahibaan, our brothers protesting against mixed marriages in gurdwaras, our reverence for our shaheeds who the Indian governments considers terrorists....will they be on our side or the other side ? Khalsa Ji, we are distinct and have our own set of values and principles.

  2. Sikhs should neither endorse EDL or protest again them. Sikhs should be silent witness of whats happening in UK. Edl may have started as reaction of Islam fascism but they seem to have ulterior motives for white english country /same ideology of nazi KKK. They may be are much needed at this point to stop fight islamic fascism..iron can cut another iron. Sikhs should be neutral...I am thinking in overtime sikhs themselves need a group to preach both edl and islamic fascist group its own "sikhs own make peace not war league" to win public opinion or exceed more credibility among masses..this is where gurbani tuk comes in, apply to all situations- Hindu anna turku kana dhohan tey giani siyana. ||

  4. Not sure about Sikhs loving the Royal Family and the Armed Forces. I bear them no malice but that doesn't equate to me endorsing and supporting everything they do as well. A gross oversimplification of the complex issues at hand, and I'm sad to say this kind of rhetoric has worked on some Sikhs. Remember the East India Company; I'm sure Mr. Tommy Robinson has done his research on how his countrymen divided and conquered for their own purposes. However his general message contains some rather pertinent points which cannot be disputed. I just get the feeling we're being played somehow. Just my opinion. I agree with Pehlvan Ji. The way to deal with Muslims who mean us harm is through Sikh means alone; allying ourselves with a frankly dubious right-wing lite organisation is a poor reflection on us. Now, if we DON'T (or can't) deal with these issues in a way befitting Guru Gobind Singh's Khalsa, then lets be honest and admit there is no desire on our part to do so. Lets not keep our oar in with Sikhi but cosy up to the like of the EDL. Saying that, good luck to them if they have turned a corner. If they feel their way is the only way to protect their daughters and their way of life I hope they begin to be taken seriously. But WE have an uncomparable system; absolutely perfect guidelines of conduct presented to us by our Guru Sahibs for tackling life's many, many difficulties. If we forsake those ways for others then we only have ourselves to blame.

  9. Sant Bhindrawala's cremation: An eyewitness account ant Bhindrawala's cremation: An eyewitness account AMRITSAR: After 22 years of Operation Blue Star an eyewitness of cremation of Sant Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale has came out with an eyewitness account of the cremation doperformed on the night of June 7,1984. Sikhs observe June 6, the day of operation, as Genocide Day' all over the world on June 6 to observe the day. Radical Sikh leader Sant Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale were killed in operation Blue star conducted by Indian army on June 6. Sant Bhindranwale's dead body was recovered on June 7 and he was cremated the same night at Amritsar. For about 20 years, the Damdami Taksal mother organisation of Sant Bhindranwale had kept telling people that Sant were alive and safe. Punjab Newsline has also procured post mortem report of Sant Bhindranwale. On th night of June 7, when Sant Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale was cremated past midnight, an eyewitnesses hiding there had seen atleast 750 dead bodies of Sikhs brought to cremation ground. Besides others, the then Deputy Commissioner Ramesh Inder Singh was present at the site of cremation till dead body of Sant Bhindrawala was confined to flames. Bhai Budh Singh alias Bhai Baldev Singh who had once formed Khalistan brigade has told Sahara Times in an exclusive interview that Sant Bhindranwale’s body was creamated in cremation ground, adjouning gurdwara shahinda Baba Deep Singh near chati wind gate on the morning of June 7, 1984. He claimed that he was present in the cremation ground at that time in the guise of a mentally retarted person. Bhai Budh Singh accompanied this correspondent to the creamation ground and pointed out the spot where their body was cremated in the presence of senior district civil and police officers. He said that a police officer who had performed ‘ardas’ ceremony before cremation was still alive and he identifies him. He further said that dead bodies of Gen. Subeg Singh and Bhai Amrik Singh were also creamated in the same cremation ground. Bhai Budh Singh said that the then Deputy Commissioner of Amritsar Mr. Ramesh inder Singh along with other officals had collected ashes of Sant Bhindranwale at 10:00 am on June 9. He claimed that ashes were emersed in Satluj at Kiratpur Sahib and an entry there in the name of Sant Jarnail Singh is matter of record. He said that he knew some other eyewitnesses who had seen the ‘dead body’ of Sant Bhindranwale. Bhai Budh Singh said that his house was adjacent to cremation ground. He said that he was so far keeping a mum to avoid any controversy in his name. He said that he had counted that about 750 dead bodies of unknown persons were brought by the police to the creamation ground during two days. The Dead Body of Sant Bhindranwale was taken to mortury at 7:30 PM on June, 7. Bhai Budh Singh claimed that Sant Jarnail Singh had come out of the Akal Takht at 8:45 a.m. on June 6 and he was shot dead near Nishan Sahib. He added that his dead body was carried upto darshani deori on ghanta ghar side under the supervision of D.S.P. Apar Singh Bajwa who had since been retired. He said that these facts were based on report of his sources in the complex. He said that Sant’s brother harcharan Singh rode had identified the body in the darshani deori itself. Bhai Budh Singh claimed that he had long association with Sant Bhindranwale and he was hurt when Damdami Taksal had declared Sant alive and raised an unnecessary controversy for many years. He said that he was also close confident of Mr. Jagjit Singh Chauhan, head of the ‘Khalistan’ government-in-exile’, he said that he had installed and operated the transmission of Khalistan radio near Amritsar. He said that he was staying in the dera of Sant Charan Singh of Bir Sahib thathikhara in Amritsar district till the day when police had whisked away Sant Charan Singh about two years back, he said that where abouts of Sant Charan Singh were not known till date. He said that he had started construction of a Gurdwara in the memory of those 13 Sikh ‘Martyr’s who were killed in Sikh Nirankari clash but it remained upto foundation level due to financial problems. Dr. Davinder Sharma(PCMS) who had conducted the post mortem of Sant Bhindranwale had missing after few days. According to Post mortem report Sant Bhindranwale died instantly. He had written, “In my opinion that is due to shock and Hammrage as a result of Massive head injury accompained with multiple fractures which is sufficient to cause death...... The Doctor has mentioned the time of Post Mortem at 8 pm and according to him Bhindranwale had died about 5 pm on June 7, 1984. Could other movements seeking independence from the union learn from them or seek a deadly alliance to break apart Indian rule? What are the objectives of the maoists do they seek independence from India or to install a maoist communist regime in all of india?

  11. 'Muslims' haven't continously persecuted us Sikhs......The Mughals did. Even when the 0.1% of the Muslims who were part of the Mughal govt persecuted us there are plenty of examples throughout our history of when ordinary Muslims not only saved our lives but also laid down their lives in defence of our Gurus. By the same token, if 0.1% of Muslim women and children have become suicide bombers it is totally irrational to taint the other 99.9% with the same brush. Our Gurus taught us that time and again. Frankly, the Sikh that sides with hate-filled facists is no Sikh at all. Rather, he needs his head examined. I politely suggest you spend less time occupying your mind with irrational fears about Islamic history and spend more time reading up on your own history and the lessons our Gurus have taught us. For example, what the 5th master Guru Arjan Dev ji taught us. He came down to doaba to get married in a muslim village called 'Mao'. The Muslims of the village showed him so much kindness he was overwhelmed. He called the Muslims of the area 'his beloved muslims' and to this day the big historic Gurdwara there is joined at the hip with a Muslim Mosque. As per Guru ji's wishes both the Gurdwara and the Mosque share a wall to show the love between the 2 communities. You are a fool my friend if you think the ordinary rank and file EDL supporter knows the difference between old Mrs Kaur and old Mrs Khan. In that respect, you should look at the disgusting abuse Mrs Khan has to face as abuse directed at your own mother. Indeed, if the EDL supporter gets his wish and deports Mrs Khan it is your own mother who is next on his hit-list.

Apparently after a bit of research on Wikipedia in the past few minutes I've discovered each item held by Vishnu (including his sudharshan chakra) is also symbolic of a kind of human trait or characteristic. So I guess that's where the meditation bit comes in. I was just a bit curious as I'd heard the term mentioned in the past.

  16. Agree..its just in the political correct and current environment we need to careful to endorse edl as a group...we should not endorse an group because group has members and has association, group has connatations be it good or bad based on the actions of individuals in the group For eg- I may agree some of the views - tommy robinson has but to say i agree with edl group (all the members action) in its totality based on agreement with some of views of tommy robinson is too far fetched and it be blowing out of proportion. Unfortunately outside world or media world is pretty black and white- they won't inquire if sikh in edl rally agree with all of the views of edl or some..they put it simple words- sikhs support edl..!! Another example i saw edl using banner with sikh traditional turbans and dress distinction with muslims on their facebook..they had sikhs wearing traditional dress ok but they made it appear on the same banner- muslim wearing traditional dress as fascist..that is a dangerous precedence if its set through that banner in the members of eld or other kkk groups..not all Muslims which are traditional dressed are fascist..they are trying to milk situation for its worth at the moment by winning hearts of sikhs...their intentions might be pure or malice that i don't know. I would wait until other famous political leaders endorsing their group before thinking openly endorsing their group. We should also have our league- like sikh british league and should take slightly neutral or liberal yet calculated conservative- stance than total right wing or left wing, should work with edl with some of their sikh ideology compatible rallies.

  17. For each of your insignificant exemplars we can provide Indian examples which are ten times worse. Heres one for you how many Sikhs have been dragged out of their homes in foreign nations, burnt to death and than spat on by the politicians of a third world hunk of rock. Ur pornographic example fires back as India has one of the largest underground porn industries. A gurughar gets attacked in America and retribution from the authorities is extensively swift, yet the victims of Operation Bluestar still languish in jails. And it is highly hypocritical that the very Khalsa u pertain to be universal, u now restrict to a singular political entity. How about we refresh and research our views and than bang heads here?????

  21. This. To those who think that this is just about Muslims....how much racism have Sikhs suffered since 9/11 ? And before you say 'it was because they thought we are Muslims', is this really the case ? Do Londoners not know who Sikhs are ? Speak to Sikhs who went on the underground after 9/11 and find out how they would get on the tube and everyone would stare at them. Did ordinary Brits going to work in London (who have all studied RE) not know who Sikhs are ? This is racism, and after Muslims it will be our turn. We have had problems with a minority of the Muslim community but we need to deal with these ourselves rather than jumping on the EDL bandwagon. Pakistani grooming gangs should be dealt with by the law, otherwise vigilante groups should be formed to deal with them.

Neeldharis are a minority, their children have now started to marry outside of the Neeldhari circles....One thing about them is that they are very loaded with $$$(especially the ones in Thailand,Malaysia & Singapore) because many of them are bussines owners. They have money but enjoy no recognition, respect or influence in the Panth.Because they are primarily seen as a cult. They claim to believe in Sree Guru Granth Sahib Jee but have many questionable practices. Their Neeldhari 'Guru'(Satnaam Sinh) who JUST took amrit in 2011 at Maharaja Gardens(Thai headquarters) in Bangkok whereby Takht Jathedaars(corrupt) were flown in to organize and give amrit their Baba and the followers. Surprisingly, their head NOW goes by the title >>>SANT JOGI SATNAAM Singh Jee<<< . Its amazing how he elevated himself to such avastha just right after amrit sanchar. :blink2: :blink2: :blink2: Now their Baba is very closely alligned to Badals in Punjab......can be seen sharing stages wit Badal regularly. They also seem to have bought over Iqbal Singh of Patna. Because Iqbal Sio sucks up to Satnaam Singh sooooooooooooooooo much that he awarded him a Puratan Sree Sahib from treasury of of Takht Sree Patna Sahib.(info is confirmed) 2 good virtues I have seen in them is reading gurbani and sewa. But having heard the katha done by their baba Satnaam Sinh,...even their interpretation of gurbani is fishy to me...... he seemed to indicate(indirectly) throughout the katha that HE IS THAT SANT MENTIONED IN GURBANI, THAT WE NEED TO DO SANGAT AND SEEK GUIDANCE FROM :stupidme: :stupidme: :stupidme:

  23. Yep, the ego (haumai) is everything that makes the person you. If you strip and take it all down then you are left with the 'true' you which is part of the 'true' him. To help us with stripping this ego we must first start living and accepting everything as entirely his Hukam. All our actions and conduct are governed by him. He gives us this self contained free-will, which is still governed by him, but it makes us feel we are in control. Humility also plays a huge role in helping us shed our ego and haumai. A very simpler way of looking at it as a Sikh is to think of killing it !!! A gurmukh becomes such when he/she is jeevan mukht, means liberated and free whilst living. This is in contrast to ancient scriptures and other faiths where it implies that one can only be mukht after dying! However, gurbani instructs us differently and ensures that we can be mukht whilst alive. This is only achieved by death or dying of the mind ego and haumai. Yes, a gursikh must think about and act this 'death' or suicide of haumai. To be dead whilst still alive is often quoted in gurbani.

  25. Deeper meaning of duality is to see two - seeing god different from its creation as opposed to see Ek jot light eveywhere in everything. Presence of ego causes dualism, if there is no ego there is no dualism-dvaish and partiality. Dualism is extradited by contemplating on gur shabad- vahiguroo, self equiry of one self..Our true nature is non dualistic ( as we originated from One (ikgonkar) will eventually go back in One (Ikongkar).
    1 point
  26. Duality is like being double-minded or saying one thing but doing another. For example, there may be a person who by his appearance looks like a good Sikh and by his outward actions and clothing he may seem pure, but if inside he is consumed by kaam, krodh, lobh, moh and ahankaar then that is duality. If a man has a full dhari and wears a dastar but drinks alcohol, then that is duality. If a girl is amritdhari, wears a dastar and still does beadbi of kesh then that is duality. Another example, someone who comes into Guru Ji's darbar, and matha teks. By doing matha tek, he is saying Guru Ji everything I have is yours, I sacrifice my dhan man tan to you. By bowing before Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji and all of the teachings and hukams and wisdom contained within Guru Ji, we are saying I accept everything and will follow them. Yet, if you matha tek to Guru Ji but refuse to follow gurmat then that is duality- something which a lot of us are guilty of (me included). Doing matha tek should not just be a ritual or something that we do without thinking about what it actually means. Doing namaskar to Guru Ji and bowing your head means giving up your mind, body and soul and following the path set by Guru Ji and giving up manmat to become a true Gurmukh. Duality is like having one foot in one boat and then the other foot in a different boat- you will never reach your destination instead you will sink. Sorry I don't think I explained this very well but I hope you get the general idea of what I am trying to say. This is what Guru Angad Dev Ji says on ang number 1037: ਸਲਾਮੁ ਜਬਾਬੁ ਦੋਵੈ ਕਰੇ ਮੁੰਢਹੁ ਘੁਥਾ ਜਾਇ ॥ Salam Jabab Dhovai Karae Mundtahu Ghuthha Jae || One who offers both respectful greetings and rude refusal to his master, has gone wrong from the very beginning. ਨਾਨਕ ਦੋਵੈ ਕੂੜੀਆ ਥਾਇ ਨ ਕਾਈ ਪਾਇ ॥੨॥ Naanak Dhovai Koorreea Thhae N Kaee Pae ||2|| O Nanak, both of his actions are false; he obtains no place in the Court of the Lord. ||2||

  29. That seems to go against the whole ethos of being a Sikh. The essence of a Sikh is that he stands up against oppressors. 33. I want to show you a whole new world within Gurbani. I know it's long and will take you approximately 30 minutes to read, but I am confident that you will appreciate this. This is very important for the discussion! Please read my first reply in this topic as a mini-introduction. Now to continue... Throughout Gurbani we see many times English translations as "pitcher filled with water" or "pitcher of heart-lotus filled with water". Do we honestly think that every single time we see those lines, that they actually mean just a pitcher full of water? Sure, it does make sense. But that is just the top layer of the true meaning. When we go deep into the topic, we realise that there is a deeper discussion going on. Gurbani is VERY DEEP and it takes an open mind to discuss/understand it. Let us not be afraid to explore a topic (like yoga) that we're uncomfortable or unknowledgeable about. In Gurbani, EVERYTHING is useless without Satgur and Naam. Just like Pun (good deeds) and Daan (charity service). Without Satgur and Naam, they are rejected just like everything else. This is because one cannot truly reap the benefits of those actions, as there is a major danger of them falling into ego, greed, anger and other troubles (due to no guidance from Satgur). But when one has Satgur, then Pun (good deeds) and Daan (charity service) is great. In the same way, yoga in itself for gain of health, powers or life is not helpful but actually mostly harmful due to possibility of drowning in ego and other troubles. But with Satgur and Naam, the yoga can be SPECIFICALLY used to increase concentration and focus towards Satgur, Vahiguru, Naam, Shabad, Dhunee, etc. And in reality, Sikhi and Sikhs plays major roles with Pun and Daan. So let's not be hypocrits by going 100% against yoga, when in the same lines of Gurbani where yoga is rejected, Pun and Daan are also rejected. Yet, Gurbani is full of examples of doing Pun and Daan and supporting it. In the same way Gurbani is full of examples of yoga. We just have to go deep into the topic to understand it. Pay attention now going forward while reading, as it is easy to lose track of what is being discussed and how the connections are made. Let us look at the following Shabad: http://sikhitothemax.com/page.asp?ShabadID=2512 Prof./Principal Sahib Singh Jee explains it like this: Now, along with those meanings, there is an even deeper discussion which can take place. Like I said before, we get the words "Hirdaa Kamal Roop GhaRa". But what is the true meaning and true metaphor? Now watch the following closely for the connection.. As you see, Kumbh means pitcher, but it also takes on another meaning which is: according to yog-shaastar, a way/method of holding in the breath (a type of pranayam). And the metaphor is as shown with the word Kumbhak: Just as the kumbh (pitcher) is filled with water, likewise, to hold the breath in (this certain way) is kumbhak according to yog/yoga tradition. But what one needs to understand is that Kumbhak is the second stage of the pranayam. Poorak is the first stage, which is inhaling in a certain way. ^ Now take note that the focus throughout this process is on Oan or Oankaar. But especially while inhaling this is crucial. Because the tone has to be set from the beginning that the yoga is to connect with Vahiguru and not for health/life/power purposes. Now let's examine this Shabad. ਸੰਤਹੁ ਮਨ ਪਵਨੈ ਸੁਖੁ ਬਨਿਆ ॥ O Saints, my windy mind has now become peaceful and still. ਕਿਛੁ ਜੋਗੁ ਪਰਾਪਤਿ ਗਨਿਆ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ It seems that I have learned something of the science of Yoga. ||Pause|| ਗੁਰਿ ਦਿਖਲਾਈ ਮੋਰੀ ॥ The Guru has shown me the hole, ਜਿਤੁ ਮਿਰਗ ਪੜਤ ਹੈ ਚੋਰੀ ॥ through which the deer carefully enters. ਮੂੰਦਿ ਲੀਏ ਦਰਵਾਜੇ ॥ I have now closed off the doors, ਬਾਜੀਅਲੇ ਅਨਹਦ ਬਾਜੇ ॥੧॥ and the unstruck celestial sound current resounds. ||1|| The first 2 lines of the Shabad are associated with the Rahao. Bhagat Kabir Jee is narrating how his mind used to be waivering (chanchal) like the wind, but now has become tranquil and stable/under control (therefore peaceful). Bhagat Kabir Jee says that it seems that he has learned something (controlling the mind and connecting to Vahiguru) through the science (techniques) of yoga. But note, that when starting to explain, Bhagat Kabir Jee right away gives credit to Satguru. That GUR DIKHLAAEE. It is Satguru who has guided me and shown me. And what has Satguru shown? That "hole through which the deer carefully enters". This is directly related to the next part. (Make sure to keep in mind that this is not any yoga. This is yoga with GUIDANCE from Satguru and Naam. Therefore as per Gurbani, this yoga is not useless as Bhagat Kabir Jee has Satguru and Naam, therefore this yoga is quite useful to connect with Vahiguru.) Bhagat Kabir Jee says that he has closed off the doors. But before closing the doors, what did he do? He did Poorak. He inhaled by doing Oan Jaap (Oankaar Jaap) and pulled his breath inwards according to pranayam technique. Then he closed off the doors by doing Kumbhak (the second phase of the pranayam). So when doing Kumbhak, he held his breath in with control. One must understand that breath is the main lifesource for the body. Without Praan (breath), we die. When holding the breath, the indras of the body are rendered useless/incapable of functioning. Thus, the "doors" are closed. When these doors are closed, and there is no distraction at all, 100% focus is now just on the breath and the control of it. Due to this, there is 100% focus on the Oankaar Jaap which is taking place simultaniously. When there is 100% focus on Oankaar, one technically merges with Oankaar (as the mind has "died") and that's where the Anand and fun begins with the "unstruck celestial sound current" resounding. ਕੁੰਭ ਕਮਲੁ ਜਲਿ ਭਰਿਆ ॥ The pitcher of my heart-lotus is filled with water; ਜਲੁ ਮੇਟਿਆ ਊਭਾ ਕਰਿਆ ॥ I have spilled out the water, and set it upright. ਕਹੁ ਕਬੀਰ ਜਨ ਜਾਨਿਆ ॥ Says Kabeer, the Lord's humble servant, this I know. ਜਉ ਜਾਨਿਆ ਤਉ ਮਨੁ ਮਾਨਿਆ ॥੨॥੧੦॥ Now that I know this, my mind is pleased and appeased. ||2||10|| The "pitcher" is filled with water. This is also proof that Poorak took place. The "pitcher" cannot be full/filled without Poorak taking place. After Poorak taking place, Kumbhak is performed. But one must realise that they cannot hold their breath FOREVER. They can hold it for long periods of time no doubt, but not forvever, as nothing is forever (except Vahiguru). So as the focus is still on Oankaar/Vahiguru, one must release their breath in order to survive. This is where Reychak/Reychan take place, the third part of pranayam. Let us take note of what Prof./Principal Sahib Singh Jee has said about this part of the Shabad: You see, the water which was polluted with Vikaaraa has been spilled and (the pitcher) has been "set upright". Now look, in order for the water to be spilled out of the pitcher, the pitcher has to be put upside down/sideways. Then only can it be "set upright". This is where Reychak/Reychan comes into place. "I have spilled out the water" meaning he has exhaled according to pranayam techniques. Now, like the rest of this process, this is very important to pay attention to. By spilling out the polluted water, it doesn't just mean exhaling. It also means that one's avgun, maal, vikaara, paap and sins/bad deeds have been spilled out/cleaned as well. Remember, during this whole time the focus was on Oankaar Jaap/Vahiguru. Obviously the polluted water was going to be removed. ਭਰੀਐ ਮਤਿ ਪਾਪਾ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਿ ॥ But when the intellect is stained and polluted by sin, ਓਹੁ ਧੋਪੈ ਨਾਵੈ ਕੈ ਰੰਗਿ ॥ it can only be cleansed by the Love of the Name. (A side note: Another way Reychak/Reychan is part of the cleansing/healing process is that in yoga, breathing exercises [specifically exhaling] are thought as removing toxins from the body, etc...just wanted to point this out from a purely yoga/non-spiritual perspective). In order to understand this cleansing process even more, we must again look at the meaning of Reychak/Reychan and where these words come from and the meaning of it. As you can see, Reychan/Reychak also has the meaning of cleansing and curing/healing. And they come from the word Rich. And Rich means to separate and to clean. This is clearly in-line with the theme which is going on. One thing we must not forget to discuss is another meaning for Rich, which is Garabh Giraonaa. As you can see, giraonaa has two meanings. One is to fall and one is to demolish. Garabh has many meanings. There are a few especially important ones to discuss in this situation. One meaning for garabh is "the womb". The womb represents birth and consequently inevitable death for the body, because something that is born is going to die as well. So in this context, garabh giraonaa can mean to destroy the cycle of birth and death. Another meaning for garabh is "agan". Most people think that agan only means fire. But agan also takes on many different meanings through the word fire. There is the fire of anger, the fire of Maya, fire of thirst, fire of desire, fire of fear, fire of the womb, etc. These are all represented throughout Gurbani. To have these things fall or to demolish these things are some of the goals Gurbani sets out for Sikhs to accomplish. So therefore this "agan" aspect of Garabh Giraonaa is fully in-line with Gurmat. Some of the different uses of agan within Gurbani: _________________________________________ ਪਰ ਨਿੰਦਾ ਪਰ ਮਲੁ ਮੁਖ ਸੁਧੀ ਅਗਨਿ ਕ੍ਰੋਧੁ ਚੰਡਾਲੁ ॥ Slandering others is putting the filth of others into your own mouth. The fire of anger is the outcaste who burns dead bodies at the crematorium. _________________________________________ ਗੁਰਿ ਮਿਲਿਐ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਈਐ ਅਗਨਿ ਮਰੈ ਗੁਣ ਮਾਹਿ ॥੧॥ Meeting with the Guru, peace is found. The fire is extinguished in His Glorious Praises. ||1|| _________________________________________ http://sikhitothemax.com/page.asp?ShabadID=73 ________________________________________ http://sikhitothemax.com/page.asp? Just as fire is extinguished by pouring on water, desire becomes the slave of the Lord's slaves. _____________________________________ ਮਨ ਰੇ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਅਗਨਿ ਨਿਵਾਰਿ ॥ O mind, become Gurmukh, and extinguish the fire within. _____________________________________ ਅਗਨਿ ਮਰੈ ਜਲੁ ਪਾਈਐ ਜਿਉ ਬਾਰਿਕ ਦੂਧੈ ਮਾਇ ॥ As thirst is quenched with water, and the baby is satisfied with mother's milk, _____________________________________ ਮਾਇਆ ਅਗਨਿ ਨ ਪੋਹੈ ਤਿਨ ਕਉ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਤੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੫॥ The fire of Maya does not affect those who are imbued with the Lord's Love; they sing His Glorious Praises. ||5|| _____________________________________ ਭੈ ਤਨਿ ਅਗਨਿ ਭਖੈ ਭੈ ਨਾਲਿ ॥ The fire of fear within the body is burnt away by the Fear of God. _____________________________________ http://sikhitothemax.com/page.asp?ShabadID=455 _____________________________________ http://sikhitothemax.com/page.asp?ShabadID=456 _____________________________________ http://sikhitothemax.com/page.asp?ShabadID=457 _____________________________________ etc, etc, etc....There are more than 100 examples I could give. Last but not the least, Garabh can also mean "Gupt Asthaan". Through Rich/Reychak/Reychan, this can easily be referring to the Dasam Duaar. Not to demolish the Dasam Duaar, but here "to fall/bring down" makes a lot of sense". To bring the Dasam Duaar down, would represent bringing the Dasam Duaar within reach and more accessible. So as Reychak/Reychan "spill the water" and the cleansing is taking place, access to the Dasam Duaar is actually becoming easier due to the increasing purity of the mind/soul. One must realise that now that the "pitcher" is empty and is rid of the polluted water, the pitcher is now more than ever eager and ready to have drops of Amrit fall in it and soon/surely make it overflowing! This is where one can relate to the meaning of the Shabad which is part of the original question in this thread. When the "pitcher is empty", that is when the fun is just starting and one gets to enjoy the true essence and taste of Amrit dripping down from possibly the Gupt Asthaan discussed earlier. Just as Bhagat JaiDev Jee's chanchal mind was controlled and he got to taste Amrit and enjoy the celestial bliss, in the same way Bhagat Kabir Jee (THROUGH SATGURU's GUIDANCE AND KIRPAA) found a way to control his chanchal mind by focusing on Oankaar/Vahiguru and in the end he got to enjoy the celestial bliss and peace of mind. And to end off, why not end off the same way as Prof./Principal Sahib Singh Jee did! Disclaimer: To my knowledge, I have never intentionally practised any form of yoga for any gains/benefits. I don't plan on doing so either. I am not a fan of Yogi Harbhajan Singh or of 3HO or any affiliated group/organization. Infact, I am more critical of them if anything. So don't judge what I wrote thinking I'm some 3HO, yoga loving person. Because I'm not. But that doesn't mean that we should think with a closed mind. Sikhi and Gurbani is much more deeper than we often think. The missionaries/kala-afghana/tarksheel type groups often try to limit Sikhi and Gurbani within a very small box. I spent many hours writing these types of explanations, doing research through various resources. It's easy to just throw out quotes from Prof/Principal Sahib Singh Jee. But as you should have realised from reading the above, Prof Sahib Singh Jee's work alone cannot give you the WHOLE answer. You will need to dig even deeper than that and be able to research from other sources and connect the dots. Once again, let's stop being anti-hindu, anti-yoga, anti-mythism, anti-mystical, anti-sanskrit, etc. Let's stop trying to make Gurbani say what we want it to say, and instead let us just be able to read/listen and take it for what it really is. People have already become so anti-hindu/anti-history/anti-culture/anti-traditional, that they have spoke against Dasam Granth. Guru Granth Sahib Jee is what they are really after. And one day, they will try to finish it off after cornering it against a wall. Keep an open mind once again about the depths of Gurbani. There is more to a "pitcher full of water" or "pitcher heart-lotus filled with water" than meets the eye. Long read, I know. But if you are truly passionate about Sikhi, you should be willing to spend hours reading and researching. Thanks.

  34. One thing i don't understand is why we don't come in terms or face the reality as per gurbani that there are many meditation development stages as such there are many meditation techniques to meditate on Vahiguroo as the main purpose is to fills its main purpose which is to control the mind so that it stays in shabad, above gurbani tuk talks about koombak method (one of many) to control mind as gurbani also says: .jab kumbak bharpur lena tau baje anhad bena..just try it, inhale your breath, hold it- recite Vahiguroo mantra 16 times or more and listen to it at the same time with your surti - shabad surat, then exhale...not only by infusing shabad for sixteen times while holding your breath before exhale will control mind but this will also bring balance to prana and apana in the body which will further help an individual to further still the mind in shabad or gyan....i tried above method for couple of days, it helped me significantly...although i do admit its hard so i stopped doing it all time as i have asthma problem...i only do it if cannot concentrate at all. It's known fact mind is fully connected with breath/prana and there is nothing mortifyingly hindu/yogic about it, so if i may quite bluntly- get over it, sikhs these days need to man up and get over their paranoia and start actually meditating before criticizing everything and anything within gurbani...no one is saying this will ultimately open door to bhramgyan/sachkhand, these are small meditation techniques there to help you in the stages of your meditation development..if it rocks your boat more power to you, if it does not rock your boat, well move on and try rest of techniques, read gurbani, do seva please do something, don't just sit idle and become a arm chair critic...!!
