  1. As others have said, no one is forcing anyone to take langar or eat everything that is available. I stick with daal, roti and dahi. Occasionally I might permit myself to have mattar paneer or cholay. Receive what you wish. Be grateful to God for langar prashad, and remember Him whilst you eat. People don't provide all these foods for the sake of it. I had a birthday coming up and wanted samosas. I automatically thought "I know Guru Ji would enjoy samosas" and hence we took some to the gurdwara to give out in the langar. It was my way of sharing something I liked with God and that's how I saw it.

You meditate on the Lord, and chant the Lord's Name, O my merchant friend. You contemplate the Name of the Lord, Har, Har. Chanting the Name of the Lord, Har, Har, and meditating on it within the fire of the womb, your life is sustained by dwelling on the Naam. You are born and you come out, and your mother and father are delighted to see your face. Remember the One, O mortal, to whom the child belongs. As Gurmukh, reflect upon Him within your heart. Says Nanak, O mortal, in the first watch of the night, dwell upon the Lord, who shall shower you with His Grace. ||1|| In the second watch of the night, O my merchant friend, the mind is attached to the love of duality. Mother and father hug you close in their embrace, claiming, ""He is mine, he is mine""; so is the child brought up, O my merchant friend. Your mother and father constantly hug you close in their embrace; in their minds, they believe that you will provide for them and support them. The fool does not know the One who gives; instead, he clings to the gift. Rare is the Gurmukh who reflects upon, meditates upon, and within his mind, is lovingly attached to the Lord. Says Nanak, in the second watch of the night, O mortal, death never devours you. ||2|| In the third watch of the night, O my merchant friend, your mind is entangled in worldly and household affairs. You think of wealth, and gather wealth, O my merchant friend, but you do not contemplate the Lord or the Lord's Name. You never dwell upon the Name of the Lord, Har, Har, who will be your only Helper and Support in the end. This wealth, property and Maya are false. In the end, you must leave these, and depart in sorrow. Those whom the Lord, in His Mercy, unites with the Guru, reflect upon the Name of the Lord, Har, Har. Says Nanak, in the third watch of the night, O mortal, they go, and are united with the Lord. ||3|| In the fourth watch of the night, O my merchant friend, the Lord announces the time of departure. Serve the Perfect True Guru, O my merchant friend; your entire life-night is passing away. Serve the Lord each and every instant-do not delay! You shall become eternal throughout the ages. Enjoy ecstasy forever with the Lord, and do away with the pains of birth and death. Know that there is no difference between the Guru, the True Guru, and your Lord and Master. Meeting with Him, take pleasure in the Lord's devotional service. Says Nanak, O mortal, in the fourth watch of the night, the life-night of the devotee is fruitful. ||4||1||3|| May we all go back to our innocent child hood moment in the womb and jaap naam with unbroken current (naam liv). Vahiguroo, very beautiful video and beautiful shabad put things in perspective.

  3. I was wondering if there is any Sikh meditation music that is about? I know some there are some western born artists like Snatam Kaur and others have made but shes not really a Sikhi exclusive related artist. And most Kirtans can not be described as meditation music as they are hymns sung using multiple musical instruments often out of tune! If we look at guru nanak devi ji and his travels with mardana music was an important part of naam simran and it was played just using sitar and rabaab I believe. The sounds those instruments make touch the soul the sounds they produce vibrate and stirs the mind into the correct frequency for meditation.

  4. God also exist in strip clubs and red light districts. How many times have you gone to these places looking for God? Also do not forget God exist in addictive drugs. Do take a hit and tell me if you found him. The dera baba also says God exist in my room to lure in young girls and rapes them. Do you get the point.

  5. WJKK WJKF Its very good to see Muslims condemning what's happening, however the condemnation of acts like the cold blooded murder of the British soldier Lee Rigby, may his soul rest in peace with waheguru should also be quickly condemned by Muslim councils and Muslim communities. When terrorist attacks occur in the name of Allah and Islam, Muslims are very slow to condemn and make a noise about their condemnation to show the world that not all Muslims have the same interpretation of the Koran. The fact that this is a incident evolving a Muslim man and Muslim children should not mean that Muslims should now show their condemnation on a larger scale internationally, as it being based on an internal issue within Muslims. It should be condemned as a direct assault on someone's human rights. This same peel of condemnation should of been put across on incidents like the murder of Lee Rigby. Also, in sharia law a women should only get one quarter of a will and a male 3 quarters. So if a man had a son and two daughters, the will would not be devided equally by the 3 siblings. The son would get a half and the two daughters a quarter each! Sharia law isn't as equalitarianism as the Muslim poster divulges, even though his intentions are commendable. Crazy to think, what happened in our gurus life times in kal jugh, is still occurring in our life times in kal jugh. We need more of our Mahaan shaheed like Dhan Dhan Shaheed Bhai Taru Singh ji to be born and once again, sent by Akal Purakh waheguru!

  6. They should delete Boko and just call themselves Haram - because thats what they are. Kidnapping children because they study education and then selling them to pirates for a life of slavery is not logic nevermind religious decree. What amazes me most is when they say Allah told me to do this, or i have Allahs instruction. Shame on all Governments and its agencies for not wiping these scum bags out soon enough

  7. You're at a young age so I don't know how much experience you have. I've been to night clubs and parties and such. Other than chatting with friends, I found the whole boring. Actually, not boring but kind of surreal. I would become aware of the entire surroundings and yet be distant from them, like I was outside and looking in through a window. It was interesting to watch and see people act and interact, drinking and dancing, almost as though to convince themselves they were having a good time. Go if you can't get out of it but try to remain detached from it and remember paramatma throughout.

  8. Man toon Jot Swaroop Hain Apna Mool Pachhaan (Something on mind) True identity of the mind does not rest with the body. ‘I am the body’ is a wrong notion of the mind. Its true identity lies with the Atam - with the JOT. It is a reflection of the Jot and that is its true identity. Mind derives its Light from the source which is JOT. Spark of the JOT is aflame, aglow in the mind and that is why and how the mind becomes alive, active. It derives its life from the Divine and Holy Flame (JOT). A pure mind finds its resting place in the Jot - the Atam where no cluttering, no chirping of a normal mind can cause any disturbance. It loses its own identity in the Divine silence and Bliss of Atam - JOT. Unless thick black coating of mind with numerous sins of this birth and of previous births is washed away wholesale, how can it behold and reflect the true glory of the Atam - the JOT. Once the thick black layers are washed away, mind becomes transparent and starts reflecting the JOT. It becomes tranquil and like a spotless and tranquil mirror reflects the splendour of the “JOT”. It becomes “JOT SWAROOP”.

  10. The type of party you will be attending is where open alcohol, sexually charged music, and foolish behaviour including sexual behaviour will be flowing throughout the night. This is a typical banquet hall party. You will be the odd person out who will be the guy being pushed into indulging in the fully blown out maya. Your mind will be affected negatively by what is going on in the party. There will be no discourse on Gurbani or anything remotely virtuous. Others will be caught up in flirting, food, alcohol, dancing, and gossiping amongst each other. Does a Sikh fit into such an environment? The mind absorbs these types of acts very quickly. And Gianis are the but of these foolish peoples jokes made at these parties.............Yo look at that giani....lets find him a aunty?.....Yo that giani is ripping it with that girl......hes a ggb (giani gone bad)....Yo, why is that giani here....if hes just going to look all depressed......this is a party..... The Sardar who goes cannot even deny these jokes are made because they are made right to his face. No one can expect anything more sensible coming out of a fools mouth. The Gurus said the body is like a temple. What you will put in it or where you go will effect you. In this case nothing good will come of it. This is what a Taksali Jathedar says about these events.

  11. Sikhiseeker's message (above) is confusing. It's neither here nor there. After reading it 2 or 3 times I still can't figure out if he or she says it's ok or not. Brother, I know exactly how you feel. I haven't been to the banquet hall wedding party of anyone in over 10 years. I always go to the gurdwara marriage. I never go to the parties afterwards. What would I gain from doing so ? Spiritually speaking it is soul destroying, and I'm not even Amritdhari so I can't believe how any amritdhari can feel comfortable in such places. How can their light shine in such a place? Just by being there he brings shame to himself and other Sikhs and so it is truly destructive on every level. We cannot serve two masters. But even leaving spirituality out of it for the moment it is morally corrosive from an ethical and social point of view. We cannot bury our heads in the sand and pretend we just don't know. We know the debt / suicide rate in Punjab is epidemic. We know most of this comes from the lavish wedding parties and marrying off your children. We know they in Punjab look to us in the west to set the trends and by default set the right example. We know if we set the right example they will follow suit. Instead we carry on spending these obscene amounts of money of parties in banquet halls even though we know full well people will kill themselves as a result of it in Punjab, families will be ruined through debt because of it in Punjab, social problems will worsen because of it in Punjab. Set the right example. Go to the marriage in the Gurdwara. Then go home.

  12. Knowing, Experience and Being We are all knowing since we are part of GOD, knowing is what we are which is conceptual understanding of all things. But you can only be something after you experience physically. So in another sense all of us are helping GOD being GOD. So you are small god creating an experience. The complete cycle is as the title says know, experience and be. I think the planning is happening in the Khands as Guru Nanak sahib says in Japji. Before you show up on this or any other plane for your so real physical experience. The planning in the Khands on where, how, when, parents, places and circumstances one encounters that will lead you to your experience are preplanned, how you respond to them, is up to you via your free will. Soul yearns to experience all kind of emotions. As white light is not devoid of color but contains all colors, So is love which contains all kinds of emotions not just love. For you to experience love one must know what love is not only then can you know what love is. In truth Love is all there is. The urge to merge in the unity is the extreme experience yearning of soul which it is unconsciously after. We are all the same only with different level of awareness. An infant is no less perfect than a grown person. In an absolute, divine and godly way all things are everything. It’s only our mind, sense based subjective opinion which reinforces the illusion of need exist, superiority, insufficiency, judgment, condemnation, conditionality exist. The only difference is that there are those who remember their true self more or remember less. The souls who remember more volunteer to help those who remember less of their real self. Sikhism stress the only worthwhile experience to create is within, If you do not go within you go without. Outside lies the illusion inside the real truth. It’s not by coincidence that Simran is the most important aspect of Sikhism. Simran- Remembering your true self.

  13. Not sikhi related sorry, tried looking online no luck. Received a voicemail from family members phone few minutes before missed call. Number is theirs 100%, as it's says before the recorded message, but nobody had access to the phone, certain about this. A young man saying hello few times. Weird. Do calls get sent to wrong voicemails on mobiles, or mixed up, that's only thing can think it's network error right? But how.

  14. Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh. Article from http://asrandhawa.wordpress.com/ (May 2, 2014) Australia made history when it welcomed a mass murderer from India Amitabh is an alleged mass murderer, a perpetrator of 1984 Sikh genocide. Today Australia has announced scholarship on his name, the day is not far when Australia may declare another scholarship to honor Adolf Hitler, Mussolini, Stalin and Goebals. If a mass murderer of India can be honored, why not Nazis? Amitabh the alleged mass murder couldn’t dare to enter in Princess theater but chose back door, made mockery of agitators on stage inside, protesting against him outside in the venue. Kaur, who lost members of her family for no fault of theirs, recollects the incident, “I watched the live relay on Doordarshan and saw Amitabh Bachchan shouting the slogan – ‘Khoon ka badla khoon se lenge!‘. And everyone who saw the live telecast would know how Amitabh Bachchan provoked the riots.” The violence led to huge personal loss for Kaur – her husband and son were murdered as she watched, killed by a frenzied mob inside her house in West Delhi on November 1, 1984. Sadly, she also lost her three brothers, who were burnt to death. Racial vilification is the term in the legislation of Australia that refers to a public act that encourages or incites others to hate people because of their race, nationality, country of origin, colour or ethnic origin. Public acts of this type are illegal according to e.g., the Racial Vilification Act 1996 of South Australia. So, why has Australia chosen to ignore its principles and embrace a man accused of instigating Sikh genocide?

  15. I was quite shocked last night when I watched a programme called Derby Q & A on Sangat television. There were some really good points made by the panel and some of the speakers at Derby Gurdwara. Then with a couple of minutes to go a guy comes on with a white beard aged about 60 called bhai sucha. He goes on to compare so called lower caste people to toilet water and then says ' do you drink water from the toilet or the tap? why do you drink it from the tap? if they start improving their qualities then people will start liking them!!' I couldn't believe what I was hearing. He ruined all the good points Joga Singh had made before him. It is 2014 for Gods sake and we are still letting guys like this on Gurdwara stages!!! Even the BNP have toned down their language compared to this fascist!! Sangat Tv need to explain who this Singh was speaking on behalf of because he doesn't represent the views of the Gursikhs I have met. Some people have said he was representing AKJ who had a samagam after, whilst others are saying he is a pardhan from Kempston Gurdwara. Either way shame on him for disgracing Sikhi live on tv all over the U.K & Europe! He should apologise on air and explain they are his own views and not that of Sikhs, Gurudwaras, Sangat TV, the AKJ or whoever.

  16. What do you know about how the milk we drink is produced? All I knew was that cows are milked by a machine and they clean it up making it bug free... I thought nothing more of it. Cows raised for the dairy industry are intensively confined, leaving them unable to fulfil their most basic desires, such as nursing their calves. They are treated like milk-producing machines and are genetically manipulated and pumped full of antibiotics and hormones that cause them to produce more milk. While cows suffer on factory farms, humans who drink their milk increase their chances of developing heart disease, diabetes, cancer, and many other ailments. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wZcUrWAK-8Q

  20. It was most likely billions of rupees and not millions !! It's common knowledge amongst some people here that one of the prime suspects that walked away, actually bought himself out. I believe he is a multi millionaire that paid huge amounts for confiscation of vital evidence that investigators had........suddenly this evidence just vanished ! Oh yes these bombers and suspects all come across as sikhs of the highest order and the suspected billionaire is also the person that funded and started the khalsa school and khalsa credit union bank !!
    1 point
  21. Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't one of the suspected bombers have a bank of India account with millions of rupees in it. Doesn't it seem fishy to you that the GOI wouldn't freeze the assets of a dreaded terrorist? Here is an interesting quote from Former Canadian Intelligence Officer Francois Lavigne. The time after Operation Bluestar and the November Pogroms was when sympathy for the Sikh struggle was at its peak I have no interest in hearing from people foolish and naive enough to think that the GOI is somehow beyond killing innocents to portray the people fighting against it as terrorists. In the end though I doubt we will ever learn the full truth about what happened but whoever was behind the bombing was a despicable monster and if they were sikhs they deserve to burn in hell.

  25. From the nose maybe a bit. But then there are lots of people that look similar. I remember the previous house we lived in i was lookin out of the window and a Singh walked by and i thought to myself oh my god he looks just like Sant Jarnail Singh ji, then he happened to look up at the window and there was somethin about his eyes, when he stared like when you seen a dream. It was so weird event. And i heard somewhere apparently there are about 11 clones of us in the world, but they can be different colour or race. Its happened with me once, i was at a function years ago, and a girl came up to me and hugged me and kept sayin oh my god he what i are you doing here? I said who are you, she would not stop sayin i forgotten her, and why i being strange. It took about 15-20 mins to convince her that i wasn't who she thought.
