The movement for Khalistan on Sikhistan goes back to the 1940s. The demand was made as a counter proposal if Pakistan was conceded by the British. The demand became dormant during the struggle for Punjabi Suba and was raised again by Jagjit Singh Chohan through the New York Times in 1971 during the 1971 Indo-Pakistan war. The ISI did not help the Sikh cause until well into the Dharam Yudh Morcha which started in late 1981. The Congress help for the so-called Ultra-orthodox Sikh groups was nothing to do with agricultural and employment grievances, it was to do with taking over the centre stage of Sikh politics such as the SGPC. The Sikh nationalist movement was at its height in 1989-1991. This was at a time when the government machinery in Punjab had virtually conceded that Khalistan was coming and no police of govt official apart from the ones at the very top were willing to fight against it. It was a time when the newspapers would not publish the word terrorst and referred to Sikh nationalists as 'militants'. The demands prior to 1984 were for the acceptance for the Anandpur Sahib resolution. Khalistan is not mentioned in this document but the writer uses the fact that the Sikh national struggle's demands prior to 1984 and after 1984 were different in order to make it appear that they did know what they wanted. What a blatant lie. The government concluded a so-called accord with Longowal which fell far short of the Anandpur Sahib resolution. Even this accord was reneged on by the government. Criminal acts did occur on both sides, with the govt using criminal elements to sabotage the movement from within. The Indian army did not engage with the Sikh nationalists, it was mainly the Punjab Police and the CRPF. The army did however commit massacres in Punjab by killing innocent Sikhs. The whole import of this article is that Sikh nationalism has died because there has not been any militant actions since 1993. The fact is the Indian authorities as well as the media look at acts of violence as a way to measure support for a movement! The writer does not seem to aware that the Punjab was bought to a standstill in 2012 in an effort to save the life of Balwant Singh Rajoana someone that the writer would refer to as a Khalistani terrorist. How is it that a majority of Punjab's Sikhs don't view Rajoana the way the writer does? Had the Sikh nationalists not boycotted the Punjab elections in 1992 it is highly likely that Simranjit Singh Mann would have become the chief minister of Punjab. How would that have been for a movement without so-called popular support?? The movement was crushed because those at the head made mistakes or worked with the govt to ensure that Mann did not win. This enabled the Congress to form a government with only 8% of the vote and they then used the security forces to crush the movement. What a joke. Sophisticated? Yes, kill and torture the families of the nationalists and engage in fake encounters of Sikh youth! The Indians like Prem are so proud of having crushed the Sikh struggle that they even proposed the 'Gill strategy' to the Americans in Afghanistan. The last line in typical Indian bombast.

After writing the above, I checked up this Hindustani monkey Prem mahadevan and it appears he's the same muppet that has proposed that the Americans use Gill's methods in Afghanistan! How's that for a typical Indian. Advocate that the American adopt Gill's state terrorism methods and then claim later in another article that his methods are so great that they are studied in the west when he is the only fool that has studied them for the west!!

Other practices we do not know, we have no guarantee of their worth, and surely maybe a waste, but this Naam japna, is uttered and written down by Himself, that it will definetely take us to His abode. Then, Nam is a Conscious power, we can say it is His power, by which Wahiguru created the whole creation, and permeates through it in all and everything. A ray of that power in the living creatures at all levels, is the soul or surtee. There is no being as such, which is deprived of its presence. And the role or objective of Naam japna, is to reveal that Nam or Shabad within us, which is the reality of Wahiguru, Himself, by washing the filth of our minds, and the filth of karmas on our souls .... And this priceless gift of Naam japna, is a blessing, bestowed by Wahiguru Himself on all human beings, so that they may free themselves from the cycle of births and deaths, once and forever, thus merge in Him forever also... In the article linked below, it states that jagtar Singh hawara was married, then when he escaped from jail he married a lady by giving her a false identity, sahib Singh, and only later did this lady find out who he really is. As a result she filled for annulment. My questions are; Why did jagtar Singh hawara want to get married after breaking out of jail? What happened to his first wife? How is using a fake identity to get married justified? Why has no one condemned this action? Bhai Hawara married the lady in question to secure an alias to hide. He specifically told her to marry after he got caught - which she has by the way. He has a child from his earlier marriage who is being raised by his family. Sometimes you have to make statements to escape the Governments wrath, try to look at the bigger picture.

Best thing that we can do is to give our sisters and daughters good Sikh values instead of non-Sikh values which result in them not wanting to marry a saabat soorat Sikh guy. Connecting girls with Gurbani from an early age and giving them Gurmat Sanskars is the only way to resolve this problem otherwise it will just get worse.

I remember when when Bhai Hawara got arrested after escaping from jail, she was very much saying things in favour of Bhai Havara. Now she is saying something else. It seems something is not right. I wonder what pressure they are putting her in that now she is saying things to make him look bad. During militancy days, this was a common feature of the GOI and Indian media, to tarnish and do character assassination of respectable militants in order to ruin their name in front of the common Sikh. Just 2 days ago I met a man(a so called Sikh) who was so brainwashed by this Indian media that he actually believed that Sant Bhindranwale and his Singhs would snatch women from the parkarma at Darbar Sahib and have her raped. I was left speechless seeing how Bawakoof this man is that he would believe these lies, then I had to set him straight by showing him Dr Swami Subramaniam's interview about Sant Jee which among other things also mentions how the Indian media distorted and outright lied about Sant Jee in order to turn the public opinion against him.

She is facing probably trumped up charges and so might be used by the govt to blacken Hawara's name. If the Tribune wrote tomorrow that 2+2=4, I would want to have that verified from another source because that newspaper is just another Hindustani propaganda rag!

Funny thing about these Sikhs that love to acknowledge the Hindu origins of Sikh things. Something happens to their tongue and ability to speak or write when it comes to the Muslim origin of Sikh things. They go strangely silent. They use the Hindu origin argument to argue their case that Sikhism begat from Hinduism and is still part of it. Using their own strange logic then, we must have acknowledged and begat from Islam. After all, many of our wordsand traditions such as Sardar, Khalsa, Shaheed, nihung, dastar, dastar bandi etc come from Islamic nations to our north rather than Hindu India to our south. Thats what these 'Hindu' origin fanatics need to understand. If they insist on pressing the Hindu culture case they must understand and accept that others could just as easily press the Islam case. Both, are equally wrong.

I thought Guru Gobind Singh Ji gave the panj Pyare the 5 Ks... I Didn't realise that some Sikhs think they came from monkey and war gods.

I thought panj pyares took amrit because of bhau(nira love) bhagti for guru maharaj-did full surrender to maharaj without any any any conditions or reservations or bargaining whatsoever period and thats what we should do - love has no conditions first develop nira pyaar for satguru maharaj then there will not be any doubts. Doubts arise only when one has all kind of pre- conditioning. pre conceived notions, expectations, when one wants to just fit in or part of "elite group", one wants to live privileged sense of spiritual security life, when one wants to bargain in sikhi..i m sorry mukhi cannot be attained by bargaining in sikhi. Again we take amrit for unconditional love for our guru maharaj its game of love and surrender the body, mind, ego, realize who am i?... all of it thats should be enough proper reasons to take amrit, not because to fit in , one wants to bargain or live in privileged life- be in a special group with special rights. All conditioning perceptions that too can incur more haumae, give false sense of security, also causes more hindrances within as opposed to all self effort with earnestly. As far as non amritdharis reciting gurbani- naam reciting naam with full sharda prem and with truth, having moksh icha they too can get saved just like ganka papan, another bhagat (i forgot his name) who recited vahiguroo name- narayan. There are many examples in gurbani whoever recited naam with sharda and prem for nirgun parbhram vahiguroo got saved...we need to realized satguru nanak dev nirankar cannot be confined into sargun saroop only and cannot be interperated as christian prophet like figure...Ultimate saroop of satguru nanak dev maharaj is shabad and its gyan- Ikongkar satgurparsad - IKongkar- One all pervading universal jot, Satgurparsad- Sat(Truth) Gur(Supreme conscicouness) Anand(Bliss) that utlimate saroop is realized by satguru kirpa (grace). Speaking of grace- Satguru nanak dev maharaj does not need permission from us which saroop he uses to guide bhagats, help bhagats, save bhagats...he is all prevading jot....he was there all along saving bhagats in infinite number of ways, giving them mukhti(infinite number of ways) from aad - aad sach, jugad sach, habhi sach, nanak hosi bhi sach. Vahiguroo/Satguru Nanak Grace is ever present. If one is drawn to naam or vahiguroo ji (question which force is drawing you to recite naam or vahiguroo its not egoic mind even though one think it is) that itself is form of grace, when one is been guided within via inner voice (divine guidance) that itself is form of grace of vahiguroo/satguru nanak dev ji, when one even thinks of vahiguroo ji that itself because of grace of of satguru ji/vahgiuroo ji, when one progresses in naam that itself is grace of satguru ji via nirankar form- shabad and its shabad gyan- pure consciousness roop, if one recites naam thats because of grace of maharaj, any progress in spirituality is due to grace, everything happening is grace as it eventually grace unfolds itself helps seeker eventually. Make no mistake- Grace is here and now either wake up to it or don't and its not any religion personal property..!!!!

The KEY here is to understand ''What really is naam jap ??'' and ''WHO or What does Naam Jap ?" Naam jap can be done by anyone and any faith. Naam jap is not done by tongue or bana, or mala.. or even breath ...? Naam jap has No Effect until Your MIND does the jap !! Wearing bana, having mala, fatiguing your mouth and tongue, ....etc... is not going to do anything if your MIND is jumping around in all directions. Therefore, please understand that once your Mind starts to focus just on jap, only then will it begin to get enshrined in your heart. And only this goes into the 'khajhana'(treasure box) of naam that you will take with you.

From what I have understood of your question I would like to say that 1. The ability to japp naam is universal and not exclusive to Amritdharis who belong to Guru Gobind Singh jee. Therefore it is never a waste. 2. "jot vich jot" : If by this you mean merge into Vaheguru, then yes. Vaheguru is not exclusive to any one school of thought. 3. "Benefit" - Irrelevant question, for us to merge into Vaheguru we aren't doing a transaction. Doing 101 Japji Sahib paats every day for the rest of your life DOES NOT guarantee you any success. I could go further into this whole "benefit" idea but it isn't a really relevant question. In short, people outside the Sikh faith (non-amritdharis) do not gain any lesser benefit when they are japping "naam". This however does not mean I'm encouraging your or anyone else to not take Amrit. Taking Amrit is a process of furthering your relationship with Guru Sahib and is a must for those who wish to join the Gurmat school as the post above has mentioned. Just a little side note : Stick to 1 faith, don't put your foot in 2 separate ships as there are only falls in the middle. Ie. Don't go worshipping in a mandhir one day, then go to the Gurdwara the other. By doing so you are firm and honest to neither faith. Best of luck my friend and Gurfateh
