  1. Try keeping a large kanga with you to comb your hair my eldest son and my nephew have very heavy long hair and this has helped a lot , also look at changing your shampoo for something that deep cleans and has a matching conditioner it will help prevent your hair from getting overly dried out and hard to manage . Use Coconut or almond oil to keep them easier to comb try to get the best quality oil you can we use organic unprocessed coconut oil if you don't like the smell try Bajaj Almond drops. Try to stay away from baby oil as it is mineral oil which prevents natural function of hair (acts like an oil slick )and makes your scalp itchy and irritated if you sweat. I wouldn't think keeping kesh makes one looks like a punjabi it might make you look like Guru Gobind SIngh Ji's son :biggrin2: which is way cooler

  6. All these fantastical stories we have of God, they are only stories aren't they? We don't need to believe in this being called God, surely the message of love and tolerance is more important? Yeah, lets not burden these poor little children with such concepts, let us water down our faith to such an extent that it is just wishy washy. Do the Muslims ever talk like this? Do the Hindus ever talk like this? Do Christians ignore the resurrection and only look for the message? Why are we Sikhs such idiots ?

  8. What you want with all guys preaching that 'all religions lead to God' 'bhagats were Hindus and Muslims' - we have no sense of niarapan or Anakh. Wait and watch what happens in Punjab, Muslims are rising there too, mark my words - the recent Hindu-Muslim riots in Ludhiana are just the start.

  11. Its funny how quickly the attention has turned away from Iraq, Syria and Libya. There is still fighting going on in these countries, we are talking about 1000's and 1000's of innocent people getting murdered every day. It shows how the media can control the world and their outlook on what’s going on. Perfect for all the Muslims out there, think about it. Lets not show Muslims killing Muslims (Shia V Sunni), Lets turn our attention to the common enemy of the Muslims, the Jews. Who do you think is controling this, selective broadcasting.

  12. The best thing for you to do is to do ardaas... the ardas doesn't even have to be the formal one, just stand up and speak to Guru Sahib. All you have to say is that you forsake all other dharams, faiths, gurus, prophets and leaders and only take the sanctuary of Guru Sahib. You can say this to guroo sahib: ਸ੍ਵੈਯਾ ॥ Paahe gahe jab te tumre tab te kou aankh tare nahi aanyo|| Raam Raheem Puraan Kuraan aneyk kahai mat eyk na maanyo|| O God ! the day when I caught hold of your feet, I do not bring anyone else under my sight; none other is liked by me now; the Puranas and the Quran try to know Thee by the names of Ram and Rahim and talk about you through several stories, but I do not accept any of their opinions; Sinmrit Shaastra Bed sabhai bahu bhed kahai ham ek naa jaanyo|| Sri asipaan kripaa tumri kar mai na kahyo sabh tohe bakhaanyo||863|| The Simritis, Shastras and Vedas describe several mysteries of yours, but I do not agree with any of them. O sword-wielder God! This all has been described by Thy Grace, what power can I have to write all this? Sagal duaar kau chhaad kai gahyo tuhaaro duaar|| Bahe gahe ki laaj as Gobind daas tuhaar||864|| O Lord ! I have forsaken all other doors and have caught hold of only Thy door. O Lord ! Thou has caught hold of my arm; I, Govind, am Thy serf, kindly take (care of me and) protect my honour. (864) In fact if you read an entire chaupai sahib path before ardas that would be brilliant. Best thing is for you to take this as an opportunity for a true change and take amrit.

  16. VAHEGURU JI KA KHALSA, VAHEGURU JI KI FATEH Go see the Punj Pyare and explain your situation to get it completely cleared up. Historical reference: Dasam Patshah, to establish the supremacy of the Punj Pyare and establish the Maryada of not seeing any other authority superior to the Granth-Panth bowed one of his arrows in mock respect to a grave of a Muslim Saint. Guru Sahib was given a Tankah for this action, which he happily paid (due to his motivations as listed above). http://www.worldgurudwaras.com/muktsar/gurudwara-theri-sahib

  17. That is indeed a suggestion better than most, but we need to remember where this guy is coming from... Going to the Panj Piaare would mean he would be getting pesh to take Amrit, and we're not sure if he is ready for it yet? Just my opinion, although going to Panj Piaare should help in removing all doubts.

  18. -Jewish vs Muslims -Christians vs Muslims -Hindus vs Muslims -Shia vs Sunni no need for us to get involved in any of these. Sikhs should just remain neutral and seize any opportunity that presents itself for the Panth's political independence. Be like the Kurds. In Iraq, they didn't get involved in the Shia vs Sunni war. Instead they took that as an opportunity to increase their territory by 40% and also reclaim their historic capital Kirkuk(full of oil) to the annoyance of the Arabs. Once we have a country of our own, then we can get involved in other people's conflict and help them.

  19. This is the kartoot of British yet again, post second world war they had to house Jewish refugees from all over Europe so they put this 'Jewish homeland ' on the map forget about the people already living on the land for thousands of years. I am surprised at how oppressive the israelis have become after suffering under the oppressive regimes of Europe you would think they would try to get along more and not insist on segregating Muslims into ghettos ...is that what they took away from the Nazis?

  20. Its not a question of sides, its not a football match. However should be on the side of the opressed. Palestine deserves a homeland and Israeli Settlements must stop...It would be like indians resettling parts of Punjab. The idea of the state of Israel is a commendable one. But they have to start working with their neighbours and not be a satellite of Brooklyn and Europe.

  22. The reason you are asking this on this forum is that there's somebody deep down there in you which doesnt want you to cut your hair. Its a god's gift. Again as most people said, people who make comments or do not want to associate with you because of your turban, the problem lies in those people and not you. You should be confident of who you are. Tie your turban smart. Excel in sports or your profession. Be honest, do hard work.. Be a good human being. Do good. Then you will realize that a different set of people will become your friends. And that will include whites, indians, Afro-Americans etc. Remember that if you choose to keep your identity as a Sikh, you wont have 500 friends. Because our identity filters out racists, thugs, pseudofriends, opportunists, ignorants etc. What you will have is a small circle of really good friends which will be like diamonds. Arent' diamonds rare? You yourself want to be a diamond and not any other artificial jewel and keep the company of diamonds. Rest is your choice

  23. I'm a girl. Wasn't so lucky as to have been born into a kes keeping household. But Maharaj's kirpa I found the path. That kes and dastar which you hate so much is what I fought to keep. Everyone was against me. There was violence and family disowned me. Even today, people are not cool with it and make snidy comments. Look at yourself. I find it hard to believe there are people who don't see Guru's blessing... if it were petty, nothing to care about, worth giving up, why would there be a history of Sikhs from the past till this day that fight to keep their hair and dastaara? Also, sports isn't a problem. Tie a different style.

  24. I play many sports. Football, rugby, cricket, hockey, I swim with my turban on. I'm also in the RAF cadets and fly planes with a turban. My pagh has never come in the way. So don't use sports as an excuse. The Gurus encouraged sports, they wore turbans. I don't see them complaining. Keeping my turban was probably the best thing I've done. I admit, I thought about cutting my hair. But, I refuse to let other people dictate how I look. I began to ignore jokes and comments. I don't give a <banned word filter activated> about what low life scumbags think of me. Today they make jokes about your turban. You cut your hair. But then they might take the piss out of your nose or ears. What will you do then? Cut them off too? Sangat helps a lot. Get some real friends, people who accept you no matter how you look like. I think uncle Mehtab's post gives you your answer.
