  1. Get it while you can folks. Free download. This short, ancient classic by an unknown (but obviously brilliant) Chinese general on military strategy is eye opening and shockingly enduring as a work. Why pick this translation over the many that are available on the market? Because it has been translated by Chinese people themselves who are better equipped to read and translate the subtle nuances in the work that would go over the heads of the many Europeans who have attempted to translate this work. I picked it up many years ago from a Chinese shop in Holland just after first graduating. I found it again after years when I was going through some old boxes and scanned it. I tried sticking it on my scribd with no success, but you can download it for free from the link. I hope some of you learn a thing or two from it and enjoy studying it. http://www.sikhawareness.com/files/file/20-sun-tzu_-the-art-of-war/

  2. Maybe he himself has chosen to do this, I think it's a wise decision because he's been insulted a lot. It also shows that he does not want to be called Sant which is associated with ahankar nowadays to some people. The bottom line is, a Sant never calls himself/herself a Sant. It's the Sangat/people that do if they see those qualities of one.

  3. You do not believe their own newspapers? Or the newspapers of minorities in Pakistan? Sikhs have been killed in KPK. They are not exactly fine there. Sikhs have separate glasses and utensils be it at schools or colleges. Pakistani Muslims are bound to tell different stories so to tap into rivalry and anger against India. And if you are talking about Kashmir then ones from there are even more likely to paint different picture since anti India sentiment is highest there for obvious reasons. Look at these reports: Killings of Sikhs in Pakistan forcing them to flee homes http://thediplomat.com/2014/09/the-killing-of-the-sikhs/ Pakistan Sikhs live under constant threat http://mobile.reuters.com/article/idUSKCN0HS0U220141003 Pakistan Sikhs in dark ages of persecution http://www.ipsnews.net/2014/11/pakistani-sikhs-back-in-the-dark-ages-of-religious-persecution/ The Sikhs of Nankana Sahib: Life under shadow of towering hate http://www.dawn.com/news/1025160/day-3-the-sikhs-of-nankana-sahab Don't go by just what a Paki or Kashmiri tells you. I know people who have gone there for yatra and even they confirm how hatred and hostility are evident against Sikhs in Pakistan and recollect ill treatment and being treated like outcastes even at dhabas. Read firsthand accounts from Pakistani newapapers yourself to know how "well" Sikhs are treated there. They have no political representation. They have been requesting for atleast one holiday on Gurpurab and recognition of one religious festival (Gurpurab) but even that has not been granted there. I am not proud of India or something but Sikhs have it far better in India, compared to Islamic countries like Pakistan! It is outlandish to assume Pakistan is better or even any good for Sikhs.

  5. Yep, he has done a runner with a gori yoga student. Obviously, the lost Sikh warrior couldn't control his 'kaam'. He has been faking his art and making it up as time went by. Changing the name of his art, numerous times. Writing a book in 1998 with no mention of sanatan shastar vidiya in it at all, according to him he had been learning the art since 1984 (read MAI September 2004 copy). Yet failed to call it that in his book, four years into his training. His teacher is Baba Mohinder Singh, yet at his akhara he has a picture of Baba Giana Singh as his gurdev. Babaji giana Singh has written a book on shastar vidiya with no mention of the term sanatan or hindu-sikh, so if he learnt the art from Baba Giana Singh Ji then where did he pick up those words. After all this is supposed to be the authentic art! The guy is a complete fraud and I hope his chele start to realise it now!

  7. I said this a few months ago. No one believed me, Nidar does not teach shastar vidiya classes in any UK akhara. The classes are run by senior students. He has left/eloped to Germany. Only returning to the uk to do the odd seminar. This has to be good news as he can't brain wash more impressionable kids.

  8. https://pando.com/2014/11/20/the-war-nerd-why-sherman-was-right-to-burn-atlanta/ Above is a link to an article about the american civil war. It has some correlations with khalistan movement. About how a rural, more religous part of a country is trying to secede/seperate from the secular, industrial country. The background is that an american general burned down a city of the south.( the war was north vs south) So anyway he talks about how guerilla war is horrible. I think indian govt committed attrocities on purpose just like sherman. To get ppl to give up n i think it worked. Also that unless we ourselves are willing to live thru war, lets not start it in panjab...

If he is as bad as you say, count yourself lucky to have got rid of him. If you've got children focus on them instead; if not, count yourself lucky that you can make a clean break from him.

  15. While I agree with you on India, I disagree on Pakistan. Just read reports on Pakistan newspapers like Dawn and Express Tribune. Sikhs are treated like second class citizens there. The Sikh empire heritage is also either destroyed or rotting and is in dire need of preservation. Sikhs have no political representation there either. Forced conversions and kidnapping of Sikh girls is reported. Last year Sikh men were also beheaded by Muslim extremists. Pakistanis seem to support Sikhs online because they are India's rivals and they are still pissed about India breaking Pakistan and helping create Bangladesh. Pakistanis are not reliable. Their Govt gave details of Sikh freedom fighters to Rajiv Gandhi. Nobody can ever count on a Paki.

  17. Which world do you live in?? Hindus gave up religion long away... Those 40-100 people who have hindu name & returned their award; are left liberals and hardcore anti hindu.. Real hindus support Sikhs over blood sucking muslims.. The muslims population have gone up from 9 % to 15% in 70 yrs while Sikh % has marginally come down. Please see on twitter and u will find most hindu supporting Sikhism. IF you are active on social media then u will know that Hindus supporters are the only one who talk about 1984 massacre and raised sikh population % decline. Muslims of India openly practice shariah law. Indian liberals, congress party divided and ruled Hindus. now they have full support of muslim.. Muslims are playing their own game.. Their population growth is 2 times than Hindus. Once congress mafia and opposition cried over intolerance then real hindus showed them mirron over Sikh massacre. We protested in delhi but media is on the side of leftist pro islamist opposition. Modi couldnt evn get sonia gandhi and her papppoo son arrested in 4000 crore national herald scam. Sonia have destroyed judiciary in last 10yrs.. 80% of the judges are in their pocket... Once their nos grow up they will soon start force converting hindus and demand separate country for Muslims.. Unlike mslims, Sikhism is religion of our land. Let me be precise- For So called hindu named leftist intellectuals/Darbaris Gandhi family means everything....They will never raise any question against congress, no matter they carry out 100 massacres like 1984. Hindu named intellectuals who are hindu for name sake have given us name like Hindu taliban, Hindu terrorist & have equated RSS with ISIS. 1 lynch which happened due to a feud in village was enough to judge all hindus as terrorist. But despite, 100000 of ISIS killing and 100-1000 ISIS supporters in India ; Islam is religion of peace!

  18. Scamgress & khangress have obliterated all the proofs... They own judiciary. Modi govt or any govt cant even shake the lutyen infrastructure built by Gandhi family with support of media channels and masses of left liberal intellectuals Brother---Dont call them intellectuals hindus---- They are leftists, darbabis of congress. Most of these hindu named intellectuals hate Hinduism and have already declared India as home to hindu taliban. IF hindus taliban modi govt is so evil then why are Sikhs,Buddhists,Jains,Parsis not complaining?? The law and order situation in Punjab is not related to Modi govt! Darbaris aim is to support their godfather.. Over 1 death of muslims, they maligned entire nation for sake of their queen sonia and pappu son We asked those fake intellectuals same question..Why didnt anyone of them return any award once 5000 Sikhs were massacred in Delhi.

  20. What individuals want to do is up to them, but as a 'Sikh' and as a minimum we should be following the Maryada which describes the naming ceremony. Here is a copy paste from SikhAnswers. In addition to the naming ceremony it is beneficial to give 'Gurti' to the young child preferably soon after the birth. Sikh ceremonies are not rituals or occasions for the display of affluence and ego, but acts of thanks-giving and prayer, suited to the occasion. There is no ceremony at the time of the birth of the child in a Sikh family, even though the event produces a feeling of joy among the near relatives. However, when the mother and the child are in a position to move about, say a few weeks after the birth, the family takes the opportunity of performing the Naming Ceremony. Below is a description of Naam Sanskaar or “Naming Ceremony” in accordance to the Panthic Sikh Rehat Maryada: CEREMONIES PERTAINING TO BIRTH AND NAMING OF A CHILD “(a) In a Sikh’s household, as soon after the birth of a child as the mother becomes capable of moving about and taking bath (irrespective of the number of days which that takes), the family and relatives should go to a Gurdwara with Karhaah Prashaad (sacred pudding) or get Karhaah Prashaad made in the Gurdwara and recite in the holy presence of the Guru Granth Sahib such hymns as “Parmeshar ditaa banaa” {Sorath M. 5} (The Almighty Lord has granted support, [sorath M. 5, Guru Granth Sahib Ang 628]); “Satguru sache dia bhej” {Asa M. 5} (The true Lord has sent this gift [Asa M. 5, Guru Granth Sahib Ang 396]) that are expressive of joy and thankfulness. Thereafter if a reading of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji had been taken up, that should be concluded. Then the holy Hukam (command) should be taken. A name starting with the first letter of the Shabad of the Hukam (command) should he proposed by the Granthi (man in attendance of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji) and, after its acceptance by the congregation, the name should be announced by him. The boy’s name must have the suffix “Singh” and the girl’s, the suffix “Kaur”. After that the Anand Sahib (short version comprising six stanzas) should be recited and the Ardas in appropriate terms expressing joy over the naming ceremony be offered and the Karhah Prashad distributed.” The Hukam or command taken at the Naming ceremony is a Hukam for the child and parents, which Guru Jee’s guidance and instruction. From the Hukam (command), the first letter from the first word of the shabad is used to choose a name. When choosing a name, such a name should be picked which is inspiring and uplifting because a name affects the child in later life. Picking one a name using the letter giving by Guru Ji, the parents receive the Guru’s blessings. When the name is chosen by the parents and approved by the Granthi (the Sikh man or woman in attendance of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji) then it should be announced to the Saadh Sangat, congregation. On announcing it to the congregation, someone should shout, ‘Bole So Nihaal: Sat Sree Akaal!’ (Whosoever responds to this call shall be blessed: True is the Immortal Lord). This signifies the congregation has accepted the name.

  21. Gud Jee, all the members above have given valid answers above, but by just adding my 2 cents, I would say, In Sikhee, God is nothing, but an Infinite Ocean of Love and Grace. We can not say almost anything more about Him through reason, because He is beyond the parameters of thoughts, speech, and any other mental instruments. But for sure, there is a method given to us by our Beloved Guru Sahibans, and that is the Jap, as seen in the Mool Mantra, or Jap Ji Sahib, or even in the rest of the Bani, as well by the Bhagats Janas in it. Ik Oankar, Satgur Parsad Jap. There is only One Lord, who is realized through His contemplative meditation, there is no other way(no shorcuts, no substitutes), it is the way laid for us humans, by our Guru Sahibans, and the best thing about it, is that it is safe and sure. It is a path, where the Shabad Guru, and the sikh disciple go hand by hand. Nanak, Naam jahaz hae, jin chareeya se utareeya paar. He created the craetion in order to love us, and at same time to love Him the most. Jin Prem keeyo, tin hee Prabh paayo. And in this loving relation with Him, the sikh, places himself in His arms, just as a baby in the mothers´ arms. Gud Jee, read the Bani with attention and try to assimilate it, you will find the Nectar, which makes/ transforms the mortal, to immortal. Sat Sree Akal.

  22. Jagsaw naming your child after getting Hukamnama is not the end of the world. Nor does it have anything to do with Hindu Dharam. Just read about the Hindu Naamkaran ceremony and compare it with the Sikh naming ceremony. They have absolutely nothing in common or even remotely similar to one another. I dont understand how you have come to the conclusion that this is 'exactly the same' to the naamkaran ceremony. As for following Sikh maryadhas and Gurmat Paramparas which you are terming as "rituals". You need to inform yourself what are Hindu rituals and how are they performed before making misinformed comparisons between our traditions with traditions of aanmat. Using your line of reasoning we will discard everything in Sikhi because it happens to be a 'ritual' or because you seem to see similarities with Hinduism. This is Kala afghanist mindset. This is why some of his followers even pick and choose which Bani is authentic because they feel it is too Hinduish for their taste. And sadly, nitnemi Baanis like Jaap Sahib, Svaiye and Chaupi Sahib have been discarded by these people. Some have discarded some Bhagat Bani and Bhattaan de svaiye because it seems too Hinduish for them. Some like mr Ghagha have changed our Ardas because that also seems too Hinduish. One needs to use their Bibek budh. Sikhi is no doubt very distinct from Hinduism but lets not go to the extent of discarding authentic Sikh ceremonies and traditions which have absolutely nothing to do with Hinduism.

  23. 1. The Panthic Sikh Rehat Maryada explains how to take a Hukamnama: CHAPTER-VI Taking Hukam* (Command) Article VII (*Hukam:- Reading or Reading out to others, including the congregation, of a Shabad (hymns) or a unit of one or more saloks (short scriptural compositions normally of two to four lines) and a pauri (short stanza of four or more lines) from Guru Granth Sahib Ji after, or even without performing, Ardaas is an important Sikh ritual. It is called “Hukam laina” (Taking the order or command), “Vaak laina” (taking the word), “Awaaz laina” (taking the voice). The hymn or unit goes by the name of “Hukam” (order, command) “Vaak” (uttered Word) or “Awaaz” (voice). a. Doing obeisance to Guru Granth Sahib Ji, respectfully, taking a glimpse of the congregation, an embodiment of the Guru’s person, and taking the command : these together constitute the view of the Satguru (Immortal destroyer of darkness, the true guru). Raising the drapery covering the Guru Granth Sahib and merely taking a look or making others take a look at the exposed Ang (respectful word for page), without taking command (reading the prescribed hymn) is contrary to Gurmat (Guru’s way). b. In the course of the congregational sessions, only one thing should be done at a time : performing of kirtan, delivering of discourse, interpretative elaboration of the scriptures, or reading of the scriptures. c. Only a Sikh, man or woman, is entitled to be in attendance of Guru Granth Sahib Ji during the congregational session. d. Only a Sikh may read out from Guru Granth Sahib Jifor others. However, even a non- Sikh may read from it for himself/herself. e. For taking the command (Hukam), the hymn (shabad) that is continuing on the top of the left hand Ang must be read from the beginning. If the hymn begins on the previous Ang, turn over the Ang and read the whole hymn from the beginning to the end. If the scriptural composition that is continuing on the top of the left hand Ang is a vaar (ode) then start from the first of the saloks preceding the pauri and read upto the end of the pauri. Conclude the reading at the end of the Hymn with the line in which the name ‘Nanak’ occurs. f. Hukam must also be taken at the conclusion of the Congregational session or after the Ardaas. 2. The Granthi Singh's should take the Hukam randomly, the time of day or occasion should not play a deciding role and also not always from Sorath Raag like we witness at some Gurdwarey. This way, when the hukam is taken becomes irrelevant as we then leave it up to the Guru to decide what vaak they would like the Sangat to take laha from.

They have setup free physiotherapy massage center for sangat, particularly seniors, who are tired walking around as vehicles are not allowed due to jor mela. Best part is how lovingly they do the seva singing along kirtan played in the background or doing simran with so much love that your heart melts with bairaag. Dhan Guru!! 30. Regarding bumping of topics If someone is advertising links to another site then no discussion should take place about that site on this forum unless it is an anti-sikh site. Any updates/additions to blogs and other websites which are external to sikhsangat can only be bumped once a month, if someone posts an entry to their blog or an article on their website or adds any other content to it (pictures, videos, etc.) then this should not be posted in their topic on SikhSangat right away, one update per domain, per month. We want to get rid of all posts that are continuously bumping other websites and blogs which leaves little or no room for discussion, this is a DISCUSSION board not an advertising board, therefore we have to make this a regulation, if one doesn't follow this their posts will automatically be deleted and possibly have their account put under quality control. This goes for events as well, for any events that are happening in a week's time, we can allow it to be bumped, but any events whose dates are further in the future we will not allow it to be bumped, if the threads are continuously being bumped and are not following these regulations, they will be deleted. Controversial Topics Raag Maala: Raag Maala appears on the last Ang of Guru Granth Sahib Ji. There has been much conflict in the Panth over this for the last 150 years. Majority of the members on this forum are at young age. This is the age to learn about Sikhi so that we can follow Guru Ji's path. It is very easy for young members to go off topic and turn the debate into personal attacks which brings down the quality of the forum. Although Bani is very dear to us and we would like to see this matter resolved but many great scholars have written so much about it. Both sides have good intentions and respect Bani very much. Any insulting, jatha bashing or vulgar comments are not allowed and will result in banning the member without any notice or warning. If anyone wants to explore this topic he/she should read the books that have been written in the past and make up his/her mind. No topics about Raag Maala shall be discussed on SikhSangat Forum. Warning will be issued. We request everyone to respect each other's beliefs and learn from each other. Kes/Keski Kakkar: Whether you believe Kes is Kakkar or Keski, the most important thing is to keep both. Kes are very important in Sikhi and a Sikh must keep his/her hair. Keski is very important to cover Kes. Both are required for a Sikh (male and female). Both sides have rehatwaan Gursikhs such as Bhai Fauja Singh Ji and Baba Jarnail Singh Ji. We all should look at their jeevans and learn from their sacrifices. Any question that does not directly go against this policy may be asked. Mool Mantar: Mool Mantar is basically first paragraph of Guru Granth Sahib Ji. The controversy is over where this paragraph ends. We (sevadars) do not find it is proper for Sikh youth to be discussing this topic as it involves very deep understanding of Gurbani. Those who fight over this topic hardly recite Mool Mantar even once in a day. Reading Bani less or more with full concentration is more important. Read as much as you enjoy. Dasam Granth Bani: SikhSangatholds a Pro Dasam Granth stand. We believe that the Dasam Granth Sahib in its current form is the work of Guru Gobind Singh Ji. No provocative, insulting or derogatory language will be tolerated against Dasam Granth Sahib. Any topic or post questioning the authority and authenticity of the Dasam Granth will not be allowed. Not following the rule will result in complete ban without an issuance of warning. Meat: SikhSangat.com holds an Anti-Meat stand. We feel that eating meat is immoral, unlawful and simply wrong according to the teachings of Guru Granth Sahib jee. There have been numerous debates on this topic and both sides of the party have voiced their opinion ever since 2001. If you do a search on the board for the topic you will find MANY replies and topics. SikhSangat.com will not allow any topics that justify the killing of animals for food or otherwise. Any topic/post stating otherwise will be deleted. No pro-meat topics allowed on this forum. Dasam Granth Dasam Granth Bani: SikhSangat.com holds a Pro Dasam Granth stand. Not following the rule will result in Under moderation and possible ban without an issuance of warning.
