  1. I read an article where it said that namdharis wear a more flatedged and compact version of that style; interesting to see the similarities - https://jodhsingh.medium.com/a-visual-history-of-the-sikh-turban-ca294b58953b

  3. Most of them started out doing kirtan similar to what we see with the AKJ but eventually dedicated themselves to learning and preserving Raag Kirtan and are champions in this field. I would love to have them assimilate back into the panth.

  5. Vaheguru ?? Yes I noted this unwritten Marayada exists amongst the older generation of Gursikhs and I noted this with a number of Saints that das has had the good fortune of meeting. During a number of stays in india when visiting the dals a few years back I saw this in effect. Similarly in taksaals and deras with vidiyalas the students would sit together and follow the above during langar. Many of the younger ppl there dont seem to know the reason but it's a tradition that is carried on for generations. Only thing I noticed is now younger ppl just have the phone out and distracted with it while eating. The Singhs also recited these two pangatis but I think theres a few more but can't recall: ਜਿਸਦਾ ਦਿਤਾ ਖਾਵਣਾ ਤਿਸੁ ਕਹੀਐ ਸਾਬਾਸਿ ॥ Jis Dhaa Dhithaa Khaavanaa This Keheeai Saabaas || Let us all celebrate Him, from whom we receive our nourishment. Naanak Hukam N Chalee Naal Khasam Chalai Aradhaas ||22|| O Nanak, no one can issue commands to the Lord Master; let us offer prayers instead. Dhadhaa Dhaathaa Eaek Hai Sabh Ko Dhaevanehaar || DADDA: The One Lord is the Great Giver; He is the Giver to all. Dhaenadhae Thott N Aavee Aganath Bharae Bhanddaar || There is no limit to His Giving. His countless warehouses are filled to overflowing.

  6. Is there any tutorials about tying this specific dastaar? I've been searching for a while. 100 percent. Only thing that separates us is their Guruship beliefs! Other than that I love them. They don't consume any sort of caffeine, along with the Nihangs, and have even influenced me to stop drinking beverages such as Cha. Also noticed that a majority of them are fairly fit and skinny as they advocate fitness. Additionally, if you look at Bhaini Sahib, their main pind, it is well kept with literally no sort of littering. It's like a different version of Panjab. The water is crystal clean. 7. Yeah I like their dastaar. They faced a lot of persecution under the Brits, they were blown from cannons etc. Its one of the reasons why they never wore the Patiala Shahi type of Pagh, because that's the pagh that Brits made everyone wear. So they continued wearing the puratan style of dastar. Their dedication to preserve Sikhi is quite admirable in that sense. I think in the past they have protested against the destruction of trees and nature.

  8. I really like their ears out dastaar style as well. Reminds me of puratan styles.

  13. What about Radhasoamis, how did they come about? They seem to be very popular in Punjab and other parts of Northern India. I think their current Guru is a woman.

  14. Naamdharis emerged just because of that. However, they came about way later (I think about during the British Raaj or the end years of the Sikh Raaj). Basically, what you have mentioned is correct. They have the audacity to say Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji Maharaj hid from his Sikhs and lived well up into his 100s, going under the name of Baba Ajpal Singh. They believe that Baba Ajpal Singh gave Guruship to their leader.

  16. Do naamdharis believe that Guru Gobind Singh ji didn't leave for sachkhand, and that he escaped the cremation at Hazur Sahib and nominated another guru! ? And another guru of theirs escaped to Europe and he's been living there for centuries! ? do naamdharis believe this or is that another sect? Anyone know more about the Sindhi Hindus? I think a lot of Sindhi Hindus were Nanakpanthis and within the fold of Sikhi, but then they all merged into mainstream Hinduism. Was watching a cooking show on one of the Asian channels and a Sindhi Hindu lady came on and she made some Sindhi food. She also made what she called kra prashad, which obviously wasn't actual prashad, and she mentioned that its a part of Sikhi but is also a part of Hindu Sindhi culture because of the influence. Because of the persecution some Sindhi Hindus in Pakistan are becoming Sikhs, they say as Sikhs their situation is better in Pakistan, they then face less discrimination. It was on the BBC.

  19. I also do these pangtia; ਮਃ ੫ ॥ O Nanak, the loaves of bread are baked and placed on the plate. Those who obey their Guru, eat and are totally satisfied. ||3|| Guru Arjan Dev Ji in Raag Maaroo - 1096 ਅਸਟਪਦੀ ॥ By His Grace, you partake of the thirty-six delicacies; enshrine that Lord and Master within your mind. 23. Lust isn't a sin bro, it's a thief and an enemy. To be defeated. Then put to work. 1. Yes. You want to build your Naam up to 24 7 365. 2. No difference. Your being stolen from by Moh instead of Kaam. Those things individually will be more or less destructive than the Kaam, but not different. 3. 4. 5. Remember Vaheguru always or increasingly to always. It's a practice thing not a sin thing. 6. You want all things in your day to flow out from your praises of God. So you don't have to choose one or the other. You just weed the garden using the energy of the Naam Jaap. Or while witnessing from the Shabad while you Jaap Naam and witness the body just do the work. Kaam, Krodh, Lob, Moh, Ahankar / Haumai all the same. All gotta go. Only solution, Naam Gurbani and give up your Sis to Vaheguru Akal Purakh through the Guru Sahiban. It's not about sins though bro. It's about disciplining yourself into accord with Righteousness, and sure, you abstain from kurehits and the panj chor as that happens.

  24. I'll be repeating things you've heard and tried I'm sure. I have people I love I can't help entirely either friend. I'm sorry you're going through this. I know it feels unbearable to everybody. Disclaimer, this includes advise for people suffering in general, not meant for Gursikhs or to be confused with Gursikhi. Without speficis it's hard to say, but heres a list of ideas bro. So much depends on what the person is into, where they are at with their mindset and ups and downs. What if any trauma they've gone through. Naam, Gurbani, Katha, Kirtan and Shastar Vidya. Ardas. Seva. When you can't help yourself it feels really good to help someone else. Especially with abused or poor kids, people with special needs or limitations etc. The innocent and broken. A pet. Caution. Sometimes the worst idea. A baby. Caution. Sometimes the worst idea. Sometimes...100 what was missing. Time in nature or out of town to decompress. Sukha. Sukha then more Sukha. Eaten as much as they want. Especially cbds. If nothing is working, I don't care what your opinion is on Sukha. Give her some cbds bro. Water, vitamins, fat, juice, water. Herbs, melatonin. Omega 3s, wheatgrass, Physical bursts of anything with rests in between. Short durations. Swimming, rock climbing, hiking. Crafts, sewing, gardening, painting, music. Roleplaying therapy or roleplaying games. Not the best in some respects, but when you have no spark to live sometimes it takes a fantasy to get going and it is known to be an effective way to look at yourself and concepts and events. Hypnosis. Psilocybin therpay. Intercession of a Sant or energy healer, laying of hands, massage, psychic healing. Acupuncture. Strong teas or yerba mate. Swings, trampolines, yoga balls, headstand, inversion tables to push blood into ischemic areas. Cut out facebook, insta, snap all that garbage. No news programming. It's a she isnt it? Like I said. This isn't Gurmat advice for Gursikhs. Bro you said you're suffering at your wits end and struggling in the human world and that is some heartfelt human advice for you bro. Hate away haters. Be sure to downvote, not comment and scurry off. Ask Guru Har Krishan to visit you and your friend.

  26. The process of assimilation into the Khalsa Panth is going to be slow for them Bhenji. It isn't easy to just stop believing in everything which was once the bedrock of your existence. Give them time to adjust. We should rejoice at the return of wayward sons and daughters.

  27. Due a lot of respect? They already are overflowing with ego. They look down on everyone else and they don't even get along with others who are involved with Gurmat Sangeet. And they are not the only ones who have preserved Gurmat Sangeet....there are many others out there as well. Please don't mislead the Sangat.

  28. Problem with Muslims is they started shoving their faith in everyone's face. People in turn started viewing the Islamic texts under a fine scope and found so many holes, contradictions and morally wrong teachings. These issues have risen and now in return so many are apostatizing.
