Ok Brother if u don't want to keep Ak-47 u can keep a little pistal With a NIAL ON it that if u run out of ammo? u can use that sharp nail which is above that gun.
Ummm.. My country does not allow me to carry ak47 neither any pistol.. and im preety much sure that no civilized country would allow anyone to carry guns ohmy.gif
If my brother u notice that todays kirpan is just for showing off that it is not sharp its size is too small. if u want to obey sikhi why don't u try the big talwar.

My kirpan is sharp and it's big.. above 13inch.. i guess i can nab the robber or gunda or even lion with one stab..

Is any goverment allowing u to take wepon like talwar in public places.

just leave AK-47 AND TAKE A PISTAL WITH SHARP NAIL THAT IS GOING TO BETTER THAN THE LITTLE KIRPAN.

Yeah.. According to canadian, british law and indian law.. all kirpans on sikhs are exempt from their own arm ban rule in those countries.. rolleyes.gif

The size of weapon/shaastar does not matter, Smart brain tatics matters grin.gif

As i know my maternal grandmother carries bigger than 10 inch kirpan (outside as usual) in BC public.. (for more than 10yrs) .. Nobody ever said a thing..

I know of people that treat the kirpan as a symbol(so they don't carry the real thing) because of what could happen with the law and all OR they just hide it better but still carry it. I'm sure you seen that young singh being escorted by the police into a police car all hand cuffed this was the day after or same day the 9/11 tragedy occured. This singh had no fault, all he was doing was carrying his kirpan.

I agree with you veerjee.. But don't forget out history.. Singhs/singhnia gave their life just to protect their rights..I won't be afraid of getting arrested by wearing my siri sahib. Im more willing to spend a nite in jail rather than giving up my kirpan.. and i know at end i know that im not guilty of anything ! singhs/kaur never loose any kirpan case in this country (US)...

veer jio,

You are talking about government regulations but yet you want to keep a pistol with you all the time?

How will you do bhoog with the pistol of yours? If our Gurus wanted they could have told us to keep guns instead of kirpans, but they didn't! Why? Because Kirpan is a shastar which holds a special significance. We are told:

Kirpan Paan Thaareang Karoor Paap Taareang
In Canada most people have a tiny 2 inch kirpan they wrap in their hair becuase we are not allowed to carry kirpans.

The reason why some people take their shastars as symbols is because they are scared of what others would say. But how are we going to change thinking of others without first educating them? So first educate yourself first by practising and then go onto educating others!

Don't u think if sikhi is to b created in nowaday The fifth K' wud have been replaced by AK-47.  ? I think AK 47 is better suited and help ful than our kirpaan when it comes to saving someones life.

Ummmmm... no, I don't. Look genius, if you read old historical documents, you'll realize that guns were around at the time of our gurus. They had firearms. They're even mentioned in the dasm granth.

Before explaining to us that kirpans aren't useful, maybe you should head over to some military establishments (for example, the pentagon) and explain to them that knives are useless and that they are IDIOTS for teaching any knife fighting techniques and providing soldiers with knives. Now that you've risen out of your pind in India and found modernity, you can enlighten the rest of the world with your modern ways.

Why is it that only certain groups of punjabees find knives (and kirpaans) to be no longer dangerous? Is it simply because they haven't been graced with sikhee and so, must use whatever means they can to attack it? The rest of society finds knives, kirpans, daggers, and other bladed weapons quite dangerous. More people are killed with sharp objects than with bullets.

Of course, the real reason for keeping a kirpaan is because it is our Guru's hukam and a guru ka sikh loves nothing more than to try and follow his guru's hukam. Unfortunately, we now have people who

think that maybe they are on par with our guru's and can use their mat to modify our guru's hukams.

By the way, wearing of kirpans is completely legal in Canada and they can be worn almost anywhere (with the exception of courts and airplanes).

Satshriakal

I think Honey is right u should keep a pistel with nail. If u want to keep a wepon. Goverment is not going to all us the wepons like 13 inch kirpan (other than india).

My brother it is very easy to say that u r ready to go to jail for kirpan. Ur future is safe but our future is going to finish by going to jail.

Don't think every one is like u :umm: . We love people.
