Akali Dal cancels Nov 4 Delhi demonstration

Press Trust of India

Chandigarh, October 30, 2005

Keeping in mind the bomb attacks, which rocked the national capital, the Shiromani Akali Dal has decided to call off its proposed demonstration in Delhi.

The decision to cancel the November 4 rally has been taken in view of Saturday's bomb blasts, party spokesman Daljeet Singh Cheema told reporters on Sunday.

"The party is not above the security of the country," Cheema said.

The SAD had called for a demonstration to protest against the UPA government's inaction on the Nanavati Commission's report on the 1984 anti-Sikh riots.

Party stalwart Parkash Singh Badal and several Akali leaders had been expected to participate in the demonstration.

Where are the Mods? I would have thought that using profanity would earn someone a warning or at least a kurtas style 'under moderation'. This is a discussion forum and if K_Singh said something that people didn't agree with then by all means they should dispute this but some hotheads with a limited vocabulary can only use profanities to put forward their view. The funny thing is that sometimes the same people who like to refer to others as 'fanatics' are fanatics themselves. Reminds me of our old 'foot in mouth' sufferer Neo Singh.

Anyway everyone is entitled to their opinion and those who don't share your opinion may be wrong in your eyes but they don't deserve profanities being thrown in their direction.

As it is my view is it could be Kashmiri terrorists, Al Qaida and it may even have been the GOI or at least rogue elements of the Indian establishment who are fearful of the co-operation between Pakistan and India due to the earthquake. I said it could be so it also might not be. But mindful of how repressive and genocidal the GOI has been to Sikhs and other minorities, to think that it would lose a seconds sleep over and much less care about the lives of 60 odd innocent people is naive.

As for the credibility of the people investigating the bombing, isn't that the same Delhi Police that planted bombs on a UK Sikh five years ago and then had it's knuckes rapped by the judge when their version of events was found to be a fake?

129750

Absolutely agree with you.

These kind of events really show who are Sikhs and who arent on this forum. Those who want to attack fellow Sikhs can be clearly seen enemies of the panth... they are probably some off shoot sects ike niranki's, namdhari, etc.

Khalistan has nothing to do with this event and yet we have people backing the govt of India :) on this forum and blaming Sikhs who support freedom for khalistan and the quam . BKI cheif Hawara himself stated a few months ago he did not bomb the cinema's in New Delhi even under extreme torture he denies such attacks on innocent but does admit to wanting to attack those resposonible for anti-sikh riots......which goes to show rouge elements in terror agencies, be they Pakistan's ISI or India's RAW/CBI, are at play in these attacks.

Whenever congress is in govt its strange how these kind of events take place when reports or marches for anti-sikh 1984 victims are planned or issues to do with Sikhs.

If Kashmiri Islamists Jihadi's really did carry out these attacks then no doubt retaliation will be coming soon.

Oh really ! What sort of retaliation happened after the Ayodhya was attacked recently ??

What Indians are doing is just keeping scores on how many times we have been attacked. Because nothing else is likely to happen.

The entire idea seems to be that at a certain point of time the terrorists will get tired of bombing. That seems to be the Indian govt's main strategy.

Indian govt should not be seen as some kind of victim. They themselves use and operate terror agencies in the guise of national secruity organisations. People need to realise the timing of the events (week of the sikh holoucast negative publicity for congress Indian govt), the current political issues (kashmir peace process and jihadi's) at the time of these bombings and who are in charge of the country (congress secular "anti-sikh" party).

All world powers use terrorists and terrorism through middlemen. Look at what the British govt's MI6 did against the libyan leader as one example. They paid local tribe men to assasinate the leader but failed and their plot was uncovered was all over the press. In all definations these acts come under terrorism.

All terrorist groups get funding and backing from various govt's with their own agenda's....people should realise this and wake up insted of blindly following what the govt of a certain country wants you to believe.

The indian congress strategy is to show they are victims in the eyes of the world to get sympathy vote. Indian secularists are to blame. The two nation theory was the reason pakistan and bangledesh was formed. Muslims who have allegience to Islam and hate non-muslim more than the land they were born into should move out to any muslim country of their choice. India is very soft and accepting for muslims whereas pakistan and other islamic nations treats its relgiious minorities with harressment and extreme persecution.

We should feel sympathay for innocent victims caught up in these attacks but we should be aware of lending support to govt's who themselves have been responsible for crimes against us and other large sections of humanity.

Who is saying that the Indian Govt is a victim ?? It is the Indian people who are 'always' the victims.

As I said, when the parliament was attacked they made a big ho-hum bout it. And hence soon went to sleep again.

I usually have supported MMS on this forum while other were busy calling him a wimp.

Well...for the first time I feel that if at all a Sikh had to become PM, it would have been far better that Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale had been India's PM than MMS.

Atleast we could have been sure that he would have gone after the perpetrators of terror than reading out some 'softy-softy' speeches.

Waheguru Jika Khalsa, Waheguru Jiki Fateh

People have died and the blame game is on:

Sarcasm mode on.

Blame it on (multiple choice)

1. Al Qaeda's

2. Pakistanis

3. Khalistanis

Pick one.

Sarcasm mode off.

When events like this happen, who benefits the most? Looks like this will lead to the closure of the LoC that was opened for quake victims.

The time is for our muslim brothers and sisters in india to again face one more Godhra and torture..

After the delhi cinema blasts about one thousand innocents were imprisoned by police and now God knws what would GOi do for muslims?

Where has they cinema blasts case gone, if it was really drastic why are culprits not brought to justice..

I am fairly sure to bomb a shopping mall near diwali and eid would give a lot of attention to india. They have been doing this from very early..

An analysis of an Indian think tank..They are already after Sikhs..B Raman- an indian terrorists. So now sikhs image will be tainted with jihadis.

7. There have been previous instances of multiple, well-synchronised serial blasts by the Sikh and Jihadi terrorists in Indian territory. While the previous instances of serial blasts by the jihadi terrorists were meant to cause mass casualties (examples: those of Mumbai in March,1993, and of Coimbatore in Tamil Nadu in February 1998), those of the Sikhs (Example: the transistor bomb blasts of June,1985, in Delhi) were meant to cause mass panic. Anger was the motivating factor in all these instances--- anger of the Muslims over the demolition of the Babri Masjid in December,1992, and over the perceived  failure of the Police to protect them during  the subsequent communal riots  and the anger of the Sikhs over the entry of the Indian Army into the Golden Temple (Operation Blue Star) in June 1984 to flush out a large number of terrorists, who had taken shelter there. While the anger of the Sikhs had considerably diminished post-1995, there have recently been fresh signs of anger in some sections of the Sikhs over the failure of successive Governments to act against those, whom they consider responsible for the anti-Sikh riots in Delhi which followed the assassination of  Indira Gandhi, the then Prime Minister, by two of her Sikh security guards on October 31,1984.

DELHI BLASTS: THE MESSAGE

by B.Raman

Only the Sikh terrorists, the Al Qaeda and the International Islamic Front (IIF), of which the Al Qaeda, the Lashkar-e-Toiba (LET) and the Jaish-e-Mohammad (JEM) are amongst the members, have the capability for organising the kind of three well-co-ordinated blasts which struck Delhi on the evening of October 29,2005, reportedly killing about 50 persons.

2. The strongest suspicion will be on the Al Qaeda and the IIF because the blasts took place one day after the Al Quds Day and two days before Diwali, an important Hindu festival. The Al Quds Day is observed by Muslims all over the world on the lasr Friday of the Ramadan fasting period to condemn the Israeli occupation of East Jersalem where the holy mosque of Al Quds is located. It is considered the third holiest mosque for the Muslims after the two in Saudi Arabia.

3. Often, jihadi terrorists plan their terrorist strikes to coincide with the Al Quds Day. The Mumbai explosions of March 1993 were planned to be carried out on Al Quds Day, but the perpetrators advanced it by a week following the arrest of one of their supporters by the Mumbai Police as they were afraid that during the interrogation he might tell them about their plans.

4. The blasts of October 29 have come in the wake of the propaganda against India stepped up by the Al Qaeda, the Taliban and the IIF in the wake of the Prime Minister's recent visit to the US in July.

5. One has to await further details on questions such as was it a suicide blast, was it a car bomb etc before attempting a meanigful analysis.

6. However, one has to seriously take into account the possibility that the Al Qaeda and/or the IIF have now targeted India because of its open alignment, as seen by them, with the US on matters affecting the vital intetests of the Islamic Ummah.

7. Please see in this connection my earlier article titled "Al Qaeda & India" at http://www.saag.org/papers15/paper1498.html and my following observations in the article on Nuclear Iran at http://www.saag.org/papers16/paper1562.html.

"The Iran nuclear issue poses a serious policy dilemma for India: how to co-operate with the international community (read US) in preventing the emergence of another military nuclear power with security implications for India, while not allowing our traditional good relations with Iran to be jeopardized? How to avoid misperceptions, particularly in the Islamic world, that India which, in the past, accused the US and other Western countries of adopting double standards in nuclear matters, has now started adopting similar double-standards? How to avoid providing a pretext to Al Qaeda, which has so far kept away from India, for targeting India because of misperceptions that India has become anti-Islam and the Asian poodle of the US?

"Till 2003, Indian Muslims had by and large kept away from the LET and other Pakistani members of bin Laden's International Islamic Front (IIF), but recent reports show that the LET is making a break-through in the recruitment of Indian Muslims. The US is far away from the Islamic world, but India is right in the middle of it. Forty-five per cent of the world's Muslims live in the Indian sub-continent. India has to be more cautious in its policies towards the Islamic world than the US."

129929

that was an act of merceneries who were sponsored by the usual suspects. All people involved have been arrested, apart from two gentlemen who co-ordinated the blasts.

And as far as the muslim brothers and sisters are concerned, I don't think anyone in India blames them for something that has been planned from across the border, though there could be some accomplices recruited from that community who provided food, shelter, and logistics to the actual perpetrators.

Beating up Indian muslims for what has evidently been the handiwork of a neighbouring country is much akin to beating up one's wife because you have been assaulted by your neighbour.

    • We have lamp (or Jyot) the pure unscented candle for a reason. Traditionally, Patis used candle light (jyot), so they could read SGGS in darkness. Light, elec didn't exist. Dhoop is used to attract the "Good spirits" but also keep freshness where Maharaj will be.  Interestingly and coincidentally I heard Sakhi a few dsys ago. During Dasa Pitha's time these souls were roaming the Earth and even Sangat noticed. Maharaj asked them "y u here?" They replied during recitation of SGGS and making Degh they didn't bother lighting candle. THAT WAS THEE ONLY REASON NO GATI WAS GIVEN TO THEM!!!  AUTHENTICITY NOT CHECKED I heard once on YT like 2 days ago.  If u apply dhoop in one room of your house twice a week u will notice a difference esp in the smell and freshness of that room.
    • Sangat ji, With the hot weather as per Guru's Hukm, how can we look after our kes?  First of all the beard! Working in Construction, factory and any other heated environment I UNDERSTAND! At my workplace it's over 32 degree celcius and sometimes we have to lift 20kg ALL! DAY! My tips, regularly shampoo the beard during ishnan. APPLY OIL! The technique of applying oil is by rubbing it thoroughly in the roots. Pay attention to the noise esp on the chin. You will hear this "crosh crosh" noise. Keep rubbing oil until u can't hear it no more! This means the oil has blended in properly.  Second tip on beard, keep an extra kanga in your pocket. Every two, three hours give your beard a proper comb down to get rid of any sweat or stickiness. SECOND BENEFIT! Do this all 12 months every single day your beard will look like it's been professionally groomed. TRY IT! People will ask you "What gel u use? How can yer beard be naturally like that?" You can say all I use is coconut oil or whaeva oil but just comb the beard every 2-3 hours for a minute.  As for the kes, morning time get rid of all the gronjra (or knots - forgotten English word), in the morning. However, during evening comb down make sure you get rid of small remaining gronjra and comb yer hair nice and straight. You will feel soooo so relaxed. Yes our hair will go unnoticed due to Dastar, but our hair demands time and self grooming! So proper combing down, spending a good 15-20 mins most evenings is an absolute MUST!  Most evenings I let my hair down and cover hair with my parna for 2-3 hours so it gets to relax from the tying up.  FINAL TIP! We are Sikhs so we keep fighting and remember this! The tradition of Dastar and uncut hair started in India, where the weather is twice as hot. Everytime we bring this thought in the mind, Guru ji will bless us and make us feel cooled down by a notch.  Fateh.
    • Been so much nindya and attacking Shastarvidiya since the 2000s, however if we look at gatka now it's still mostly as poor and poorly taught as it was back then, still morris dancing moves and still behzti moves in BBC shows about sikhi and vaisakhi. If people were going to attack shastarvidiya, wouldn't have made sense to improve gatka instead and make it more effective? Additionally, the Nihang Singh presence has improved greatly now, and the cracks within the the SGPC and affiliated jatha jathebandis are showing more greatly as panth becomes more knowledgable with dasam bani and itihas day-by-day, so much gyaan which was lost within panjabi sikhs during colonial times. In the 2000s, the groups were able to talk down this bani and  gyaan by associating it with  RSS and hindus, brahminwaad etc. Not working so well now is it? However with gyaan it would be also good for us to try and preserve our martial arts and keertan vidiya as well! More and more crazy keertan videos are coming out from jatha members that are being made fun of and making sangat annoyed and upset, on tiktok and instagram reels.

Being from Punjab, almost every Sardaarji i know (amritdhari or not) sleeps/showers with their hair uncovered. I don't think Guru Sahib asked us to wear Dastar to sleep and I don't think it is in SRM.   The idea of "keski being worn to sleep" is cos in Bollywood films (Bachna Ae Haseeno) Sikh characters usually tie a gol parna when sleeping since the actor's usually Hindu. So they gotta cover his head somehow or he'd have cut hair. Same reason Diljit wore a pagg to bed in the El Sueno vid. Only time they didn't do that was in Gadar with Sunny Deol which just looked odd tbh   What in the world? What sikh or even a decent human would base their knowledge of their culture or religion on a movie industry, that too Bollywood?  Believe me, no sikh ever said, I must cover my head becasue an actor did so in a movie. I've been doing it all wrong, I must start covering mh head because the sikh in that movie did.  Just because every panjabi and sardaar you know, does something, also doesn't make it right..  Follow the guru. And if you have a medical condition, then exemptions can be made.  Just admit it, because of my medical condition, I am not able to follow this rehit. Why are you getting everyone else to drop to your level?
    • Wasn't Guru Arjan Dev's martyrdom on amd always commemorated on 6th June? How come it was 30th May?  Just like 6th June 84, where the likes of Terrorists like Indira Gandhi chose to attack Darbar Sahib where many many innocent Sikhs would suffer, as they went to commemorate Martyrdom of Maharaj.
