"Because in the documentary done in the states (forbidden love), they keep mixing up "punjabi culture" and "Sikh culture". "

i think punjbai people do this more than "gorey."

also by infidels they may mean patit sikhs, many amritdharis do not associate with patit sikhs. anyways i'm sure they did their research and got most of their info from the "moderates'' of canada who hold these views very strongly and are indian gov't stooges. you'd be surprised who works the hardest to makes sikhs look bad, SIKHS.

we can't always assume ignorance on other people's part. 99.99% the people behind the false info are our own people. it is time we clean our own house first. you can find most of these false info givers in your local guru ghar.

peace.

i don't think CBC is to blame..

our community has ALWAYS just tried to brush aside its problems..by claiming..oh they aren't sikhs..they're punjabis..that's just a stupid way for us to get away with not cleaning up our house...

hopefully our elders will see this movie and be ashamed of what we are portrayed as and finally start taking serious steps to clean up our gurdwara committees, spend money on education adn awareness, combating alcohol abuse, spousal abuse, and getting the youth back into gurdwaras...

don't go pointing blame anywhere else...it's our own community...afterr....can we saw that it DIDN"T happen??? ..no!

Unless Sikhs are prepared to speak out and end these things then we have nobody to blame but ourselves if people criticise us - just think about it - a murderer is in charge of a Gurdwara in Canada and nobody is screaming about it - nobody is campaigning to remove him from his seat - nobody is sending e-mails to kick him out of our Gurus House - Sikhs can riot over a play but stay silent when a murderer heads a Gurdwara

Sikhs wake up!

The uncle of the girl who was murdered, who made 147 phone calls to the men who tortured and then cut the throat of his niece just before she was slaughtered, is on the committee of a gurdwara in Vancouver apparently. The only reason they have not been extradited to India is because they may face the death penalty and Canadian law does not allow them to extradite to countries with the death penalty.

Sikhs of today are so pathetic - always obsessed with small things whilst girls are murdered out of 'honour' - what are Sikhs doing about these problems? Sikhs should be campaigning against these things in the UK and Canada.

Here is the documentary which you can watch and if you dont want to watch it you can at least see the picture of the man, her Uncle, who is confronted and asked why he telephoned the murderers 147 times just before she was slaughtered from Canada to Vancouver.

Recognise his face. Why do we let people like this get away with it? pray.gif
