Do you think that Guru would want us to be secluded in our own place?

Guru Sahib Himself built Five Forts and secured Anandpur Sahib before He started His massive parchaar and established Khalsa. Without these forts do you think Guru Sahib and His Sikhs would've been able to fight the Mughals for nine months? Do you think Guru Ji secluded Himself by building forts? Do you think all the countries have secluded themselves from the rest of the world? Do you not have relatives living in other countries? Nations depend on each other in all sorts of things. The so-called seclusion is not seclusion but security and a way to protect your religion, heritage, Gurdwaras and women (our honor).

We're supposed to influence others, to make the WORLD better, not just us.

Does USA not influence the rest of the world? We have to become Sikhs first before we start preaching Sikhi. Influencing others is a matter of education and preaching true form of Sikhi and its history. A community with a country and political voice is more likely to influence the world than a homeless community. What world do you live in?

A homeless person cannot provide shelter for others. Our responsibility is more towards the Panth than the world. Sikhi and its security comes first. The world you want to make better is in fact against Sikhi. France banned Turban, India labeled us Hindus, and the rest of the countries have their own restrictions on Sikhs such as ban of Kirpan on planes and other federal places and prohibition on Sikhs from joining the military. Ik tuwanu gal sunava. I was 12 and i lived in punjab for a while and we used to goto jalandhar alot. I have cousins who goto college in jalandhar and one time this police inspector name sukhbir singh,ohna meri cousin nu chediya, like he said something dirty to her and i mean real dirty. she came home and i was eating roti with my dadi jee. I didn't talk that much to anyone when i was young. She cried in a room my dadi jee went in and asked her what happen ki hoya. Then my dadi said to my chacha jee"ohh pappi da muuh kala karo"main hasda via si mehnu v ik slap pehgi. cuz i never seen my dadi jee like that then my chacha jee and my cousins went to the college where the inspectper stands every morning. Ohna ini juti vai ohnu bohhat juti vai. it was in the newspaper in the morning.

Ohda muuh v kala kita teh they couldn't get a donkey but they got a rikhsa baiya da rikhsa. They went around streets of jalandhar and deh juti teh juti inspector deh. Vechara suspend hogaya. Singho punjab police kolu darna nai.

Im in Punjab and I can tell that most of today's Sikh youth are into aashque,bollywood cilture,drugs and what not which are against the very basics of Sikhi .

As for SGPC which is supposed to do Sikhi parchaar is like Badal Akali Dal's political wing.Yesterday's Ishtree Sammelan which was held in Tarn Taran on the occassion of 400th Anniversary of Guru Arjun Dev ji's Shaheedi was turned into a pro Badal political rally .

Perhaps Badal is thinking or is mistaken that all those thousands of people who turned up at Tarn Taran did so because of him.Where as all the devotees have reached Tarn Taran to buy homage to Guruji.

Unfortunately One of Speakers equated Badal with Guruji which is a shame.

So far as true Sikhs living outside India are considered I personally respect them a lot .

They should try to start some TV station which would beam directly to India and do Sikhi parchaar thru it because today's Sikh youth in Punjab are being systematically made to lose their identity thru bollywood culture,drugs,porn etc. under the name of liberalism and secularism.

Let them think you are backward or watever.Atleast you are at peace with yourself .

Moreover,you will still find many true Sikhs who do respect you.

Instead of feeling offended or hiding people like you ought to come forward and teach these patit Sikh youth what true Sikhi is.

Punjab is pretty weird these days. We knew this one kid who came from amritsar here to the west. Anyways this guys got pretty interested in sikhi once he came to america and talked about taking amrit, started reading about what happened in 1984 etc.

You know what his relatives said to him in india: "man, your becoming a fundamentalist"

People in India are brainwashed and equate sikhi with terrorism. They have been brainwashed to the core.

I must say, Sikhs are probably the only nation of people who have members that would rather NOT have a homeland. It's absolutely absurd. The irony is, these people are probably sitting in a sovereign country (US, UK, Canada) and saying Sikhs can just be good people, that's all we need, no need for a country.

Sant Jarnail Singh once said, if Jews being such a small minority faith can achieve a homeland, is the Sikh nation incapable?

These are sure sign of our kaum falling back asleep.
