Before The Rss, There Was The Arya Samaj

I was searching the net and I came across this article about a Hindu Organization that rejected some Hindu practices and how they started calling Sikhs "Hindus"....oh ya....it was in 1875....please read the next three paragraphs......

Arya Samaj or Dayananda rejected all non-Vedic beliefs altogether. Hence the Arya Samaj unequivocally condemned iconolatry, animal sacrifices, ancestor worship, pilgrimages, priestcraft, offerings made in temples, the caste system, untouchability and child marriages, on the grounds that all these lacked Vedic sanction. It aimed to be a universal church based on the authority of the Vedas.

In 1875, Arya Samaj established itself in Punjab, and some leaders began stating publically that Sikhism is a way of worship in Hinduism the "Eternal Dharma." Sikhs that practice Hinduism are known as Sanatan Sikhs and they established an organization known as the Sanatan Singh Sabha. (sound familiar, the RSS & their "Rashtriya Sikh Sangat")

Deeply distressed at the possible irrevocable loss of Sikhism and Sikh identity, Tat Khalsa was formed with the backing of the British in Lahore to reaffirm Sikhism as a unique religion, and peaceably regain control of Sikh institutions and Gurdwaras from Arya Samaj influence.

Now only difference is, at that time the Sikhs had the British Government's Support (got things done faster) and now we don't (so it might take awhile)......but the SSS came and went, and so will the RSS......

Britishers could never do anything without a motive.. with their policy of divide and rule, they divided a unified country..

what history books have you been reading? before the british came, there was a sovereign sikh kingdom and numerous other sovereign nation states. stop getting your history lessons from bollywood and read up on the facts. before jumping on the gandhi-nehru bandwagon, as the sikhs did in 1947, let's get the facts straight. it was the british who actually united many independent kingdoms into a "unified" country, the same unified country with several independence movements today.

everyone's favorite actor dharmindra and family are arya samajis as well....

these characters are still around....

still around?......but they ain't got no influence...right?.........

more influence than you could imagine.

basically, punjabi hindus today are what they are becasue of arya samaj.

to give you a good idea of what arya samaj did to the punjabi hindu mindset....lets just say, previously htey looked up to sikhs, after the samaj's venom seeped into their minds they began to look down on sikhs. continues today, just more subtle and under wraps.
