Sikhs In Terrible Condition In Afghanistan

Some excerpts...

In the Taliban's birthplace, the southern city of Kandahar, their children cannot go to school and locals stone or spit on the men in the streets, who mostly try to hide in the narrow alleys of the mud-brick older quarter of the city.
''We don't want to stay in Afghanistan,'' says 40-year-old Balwant Singh. ''The locals tell us 'You are not from Afghanistan, go back to India'. Sometimes, they throw stones at us, the children. We feel we have to hide.
Similar numbers are scattered across Afghanistan, a strictly Islamic nation where most people do not recognise Sikhism's close links with Islam. Founded about 600 years ago in the western plains of India, Sikhism combines elements of Hinduism and Islam.
"They take our homes, they take our businesses,'' says Hem Singh, a 42-year-old trader from Uruzgan. ''We can't do anything.

''We have no rights.''

''We keep it secret,'' says Hem Singh. ''We don't tell our families how bad our life here really is.''
''We are always afraid someone will kill us or hurt us because we are Sikh,'' says Sabrat Subir Singh, a 62-year-old trader from Uruzgan. ''But what can we do? We need the money.

''No one here is happy. We are angry and sad.''

i don't think Muslim nations educate their people at all about other religions of the world. which really shows how insecure or just plain intolerant they are.

Diversity is a part of life. The treatment of the sikhs in Afghanistan is a direct result of ignorance among Afghans about religions other than Islam.

I have even spoken to some peopel from Pakistan and kids who go to Islamic schools in America, they get zero info about world religions other than Islam.

Must explain why everyone is an enemy or a threat to them.

kind of the same problem in India. people are educated about religions in india but they are fed some very weird propaganda type stuff. so when sikhs assert their identity, the majority indian population can't figure out what the sikhs are talking about as majority of indians are taught that sikhs are the armed wing of the hindu faith.

Its all about education. Muslims are denying it to their people, and India manipulates it for their people.

and around and around we go.

As troops and ooficials from the USA, Canada and the UK are present in Afghanistan , lets call on the Governments to help the Sikhs.

I think some of the ones who went to India mainly Delhi went back to Afghanistan. The problem is that there is virtually no aid for refugees in India and the UN agencies seem to only give aid to Muslim Afghan refugees plus most of the aid budget of the UN is gobbled up by the Palestinians who seem to have made being refugees into a career and a lifestyle choice.
