its never random  :@:@

So are you saying they searched him because he had a turban and beard, correct? Did they violate his rights? The system does work, you know. I don't think they're against one particular group. They're just trying to make things as safe as they can, but yeah, it's basically judging someone based on the way they look and if you don't fit into a particular mold, then they probably will pull you to the side.

If they follow the law and respect your rights, there's not much you can do about it after the fact.

thats what i was trying to say......

That's up for you to decide, "nanosecond". People have already given you their views. Only you were there and know the full account of what happened. If you feel you were humiliated and violated, then report. If not, then just let it go, but still keep a watchful eye in the future.

its never random, but no way in hell can they say that, cos law ses its gotta be random.

they look for asians , anyone with a middle eastern appearance, turban and beards happen to fall into that category because 'some' muslims where turban too.

they may not even have a personal thing for u but they will pick the most likely suspect , so if ur one a plane with all goray then ull get picked lol, unless the ppl at the screening place know the difference and know you are a sikh ........... alot of ppl dont know this and probs wont in the near future, but eventually we will get noticed , theres alot of sikhs and non sikhs doin alot of hard work fighting for our rights.....

but i think u dont ned to reports it, if u hd to take ur dastar off then yea defo report it, or if they said anything out of line. otherwise be happy they didnt upset you any more, they can be so ignorant and nasty so u got off lightly.

Sorry to tell you, but you don't really have much of a case here. For one, they're an airline company, of which you were a customer. I'd bet good money that if you looked up the Terms of Service taht you agreed to when you bough your ticket from them, they have random screenings in there. Plus, they're a private company, not the government. And Private companies are allowed to discriminate, and the government can't do that much about it. That and the fact that there was a gora guy with you pretty much destroys much of the argument you might have.

I got this in email from The Sikh Coalition:

TSA Develops New Procedure for Screening Turbans at U.S. Airports:

http://sikhcoalition.org/advisories/TSADev...ewProcedure.htm

You can document your story good or bad to Sikh Coalition here:

https://www.surveymonkey.com/s.aspx?sm=NR_2...sn3UBnAGA_3d_3d

New York, NY (November 17, 2007) - Next week, the TSA's new search policy for Sikh turbans will have been in place for a month. Now is the time to go back to the government and let them know how they're doing. To do that, the Sikh Coalition needs to hear from you, the Sikh traveling public, about your experiences in America's airports.

After months of advocacy, the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) implemented a new policy for checking turbans on October 27, 2007. Under the current procedure, Sikhs can pat-down our own turbans, instead of allowing someone else to touch our turbans when clearing security in U.S. airports.

Since the new policy went into effect, we've heard that sometimes Sikhs are given the option of the self pat-down, sometimes they have to ask for it, and sometimes they aren't subjected to secondary screenings at all. To continue our fight for Sikh rights, we need you to document your story for us.

The Sikh Coalition is continuing to monitor the situation, and we plan to tell TSA officials about the community's experiences shortly after the upcoming one-month mark. Help us give them an accurate picture of where they need to improve and where things are going well. Tell us about your screening experiences over the Thanksgiving weekend - good or bad - so that we can tell the TSA what you think.

Practice your faith fearlessly. Click here to access our reporting form.
