I have been wonder about this. shud we if we have a surname associated to jatt get rid of it.

2nd wat shud go in its place "Khalsa", if so shud a child automatically be given the surname. there are some people who have khalsa as surname but are mona, etc.

not havin a go just want an opinion!!!!!!

having khalsa as a surname, if your a moona like myself is plain wrong. your only a khalsa if your are amritdhari sikh. i myself may not be indulged in drinking, smoking or eating meat, instead prfere whaeguru to make his power work on me on saturdays (waheguru makes me do sewa), waheguru may do kirpa on me by making me do japji sahib, sukhmani sahib (6 shaloks a day) and kirtan sohila paath each day. but that does not make me a khalsa ji.

if you have the khalsa identity, then and only then can you say your surname is khalsa. otherwise, no.

we already have a surname "SINGH / KAUR"

on all my legal documents it just says "Amardeep Singh".

Jatt paat is a pure garbage, As if we werent already small in numbers, we have to further divide ourselves by using jaat (caste ) names and building seperate gurdwaras.

We all like to hear "Manas kee Jaat Sabhe Ek hi Pehchanbo", but dont practise it :umm:

I dont agree with using khalsa either cause Guroo Gobind Singh JI said Singh or Kaur , thats it, even Guroo Gobind Singh Ji dudnt have khalsa in his name so how can we make ourselves higher by putting khals ain our name

from what i understand correct me if im wrong but surname was started by british, they dont like the idea of equality they belive there must be social class in society. not as much now as they did before.

now people tend to put khalsa, this has become a kind on cast in it self, uinfortunatly. u listen to ur mum, aunt or some one talking about someone ready to get married the first Qustion is , name jatt path . beyond beliefe. thers another thing on some radios on a matromony pogram they say gursikh family clean shaven. what! how does that work :umm: u aint a gursikh and clean shaven.

in our community caste does matter ONLY and ONLY if one is not religious.. If one is amritdhari and follows rehit then caste should DEFINATELY Omited..
