bowing to sants

It would be the highest honor to be a Sikh from 1500s-1700s being able to bow to the first 10 Gurus. but........ I put that effort in when I bow to the Shabad Guru because the body is different but the jyot is the same.

are you saying you never bow down to sri sing sahib harbhajan singh ji yogi or seen your fellow devote's bowing down to him?

Think before u say something. Pritam has nuthin to do with yogi ji.

I can count hundreds of "punjabi sikhs" like urself bowing down to "their" sants.

BTW I think bowing down is a sign of respect. Its hard to find a real saint.....but if somebdy changes ur life and bring u to the guru...thats also a big big thing.

Sorry if I sounded rude....but sometime people just go over the limits.

i admit i made assumption probably not the best one this time.

I saw your picture in your avtar and also figured since you are from california you must be inspired by 3ho. Since california is home for most of white sikhs who are happen to be from 3ho.

sorry bro my assumption was wrong.

Bowing dows is wrong to anyone except Guru Sahib Ji.

Bhurm Bhaikh Tay Rhae Niaara

So Khals SatGuru Hamaraa

Khalsa Mero Roop Hai Khaas

Khalsay Meh Ho Karo Nivaas

Was Khalsa made to bow down to everyone???

Guru Ji said

Pooja Akaal Ki

Parcha Shabad Daa

Deedaar Khalsay Kaa

Langar Guru Ka

I don't see Sant baba in there???

Does anyone else???

Every Khalsa is a Sant. No need to have special labels. Labels only used to promote ego and inequality.

Both are against the Sikh religion.

There are a lot of other parcharaks who bring people into SIkhi from Missionaries, Akj, SGPC and others. They don't get labelled Sants. Why????

Only those who want to be called Sant get called Sant. No one labelled Giani Ditt Singh because he knew Gurmat and didn't want to be. No one has done more parchaar than him. Prof. Gurmukh Singh never got labelled Sant. Bhai Khaan Singh Nabha never got labelled Sant. Who did more than Bhai Kaan SIngh Nabha??? No one. Bhai Veer Singh never got labelled Sant. Bhai Taru Singh never got labelled Sant. I can go on with the list but no need to as the point is made. If you use your brain, then you would understand. As for Namastang, he just tries to put down anyone who doesn't agree with his snaatanee views.

Guru Gobind Singh changed that and told us instead of touching eachothers feet say "Waheguru Ji ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji ki Fateh" and only slightly bow with your hands together as we do in todays time etc.

Guru Gobind Singh shaped the Khalsa for eternity. In order to acknowledge Guru Nanaks hukam you must acknowledge Guru Gobind Singhs hukam. There was a purpose why each Guru was placed on the Earth. One Guru was to start, other Gurus to define, some Gurus to fight for righteousness and Guru Gobind Singh Ji was placed on Earth to make the Khalsa Panth for the people in the House of Nanak.

Bumpity bump bump bump...

Sants have lost there relavance in this world today, havnt they? I mean, we shoudl really be trying to learn ourselves about what sikhi is, not someone else telling what sikhi means to them.

I know some peopel are born leaders, however, it appears as if some sants are taking advantage of their power to teach others.

sants can never lose their relevance, its just us people who do not understand, and are lost in the world, if you are referin to people who act like sants then thats just you lackof knowledge about who is and isntasant.

Gurbani Vichar is very very important, especially when its coming from sants, they have so much gian, they pass it to us, its relevance is very very important. the guru tells us to do vichar of gurbani, its nothing to do with being born a leader that is hype, if we realise what our hukam is then we can understand all this.

becareful in what you say.

    • The Mind is Jyot Saroop (Waheguru), but the mind is under the influence of five evils… Through Naam Simran( Rememberance), the mind will begin to detach from evil, and get back to its original form ( MANN TU JYOT SAROOP HEH)… Until the mind breaks free from the five evils, one will go through the cycle of paap and punn….which leads to Karma… Naam Simran destroys past karma, and prevents new karma coming into fruition… I did this, I did that… This non realisation of the Jyot Saroop gives rise to paap and Punn, which in turn gives birth to suffering and misery…
    • I agree we're not born with sin like the Christians think. Also I agree we have effects of karma. But Gurbani does state that the body contains both sin and charity (goodness): ਕਾਇਆ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਪਾਪੁ ਪੁੰਨੁ ਦੁਇ ਭਾਈ ॥ Within the body are the two brothers sin and virtue. p126 Actually, we do need to be saved. Gurbani calls this "udhaar" (uplift). Without Satguru, souls are liable to spiritual death: ਜਿਨਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਨ ਭੇਟਿਓ ਸੇ ਭਾਗਹੀਣ ਵਸਿ ਕਾਲ ॥ p40 Those who have not met Satguru Purakh are unfortunate and liable to death. So, yeah, we do need to be saved, and Guru ji does the saving. The reason Satguru is the one to save is because God has given Satguru the "key" (kunji): ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਹਥਿ ਕੁੰਜੀ ਹੋਰਤੁ ਦਰੁ ਖੁਲੈ ਨਾਹੀ ਗੁਰੁ ਪੂਰੈ ਭਾਗਿ ਮਿਲਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੭॥ In the True Guru's hand is the key. None else can open the door. By perfect good fortune the Guru is met. p124
    • That's unfortunate to hear. Could you give any more information? Who was this "baba"? He just disappeared with people's money? Obviously, you should donate your money to known institutions or poor people that you can verify the need of through friends and family in Punjab.
    • Sangat ji,  I know a family who went Sevewal to do seva sometimes end of 2019. They returned last year in great dismay and heart broken.  To repent for their mistakes they approached panj pyaare. The Panj gave them their punishment / order to how t make it up which, with Kirpa, they fulfilled.  They were listening to a fake Baba who, in the end, took all the "Donations " and fled sometime over a year ago. For nearly 4 years this family (who are great Gursikhs once u get to know them) wasted time and effort for this fake Baba. NOT ONLY this one fam. But many, many did worldwide and they took their fam to do seva, in village Sevewal, city Jaitho in Punjab. In the end many families lost money in thousands being behind this Baba. The family, on return, had to get in touch with all the participants and told them to stop.  I am stating this here to create awareness and we need to learn from whom we follow and believe. It's no easy but if we follow the 3 S (Sangat, Simran and Seva) we will be shown the light. As I am writing this the family in question have been doing the same since 2008 onwards and they fell for this Baba... it is unbelievable and shocking.  This am writing in a nutshell as am at work on my break so not lengthy but it deserves a great length.  Especially the family in question, who shed light on youngsters about Sikhi 20 plus years!!
