JALANDHAR: Two years after announcing the founding of Ravidassia religion by Dera Ballan, the Asi-Dharmi community has finally installed Amrit Bani Granth at the Guru Ravidass dham - the biggest and most opulent upcoming shrine of the community - in Buta Mandi area of Jalandhar.

Dera Ballan had announced to found the new religion on January 30, 2010, on the occasion of birth anniversary of Guru Ravidass after the killing of its deputy head Sant Ramanand in May 2009 at a temple in Vienna by some Sikh radicals.

Earlier, the dera gave prime place to Sikh holy book Guru Granth Sahib and every religious ceremony was performed around it. Guru Ravidass Dham is managed by Sri Guru Ravidass Education and Charitable Trust, which is headed by Seth Satpal Mall, a close confidant of Dera Ballan management, who was an aspirant of Congress ticket in the assembly election but could not get it.

The management had been avoiding installing the Amrit Bani Granth while replacing Bir of Guru Granth Sahib for the last two years even as there was strong demand from a sizeable chunk of the population in Buta Mandi, a stronghold of the community, and radical elements of the community had even been castigating the management.

Ravidass Dham has a grand structure and work on it has been going on for the last few years. Around a year back there has been a vertical divide in the management over its control and also over the issue of replacing Guru Granth Sahib with Amrit Bani.

The development came on February 1, two days after the polling, just before the birth anniversary of Guru Ravidass, which falls on February 6. Now the Dham has two granths as the Bir of Guru Granth Sahib has also not been removed and it has been kept in the old premises where it was already placed.

Reacting to the development, Sri Gur Ravidass Dharam Yudh Morcha president Satish Bharti said that it was a welcome step, but he accused the management of delaying it for two years.

"Earlier, Amrit Bani was not installed due to political calculations as president of the trust managing the dham wanted to fight assembly elections in Congress ticket, which could have been in danger had he replaced Guru Granth Sahib with Amrit Bani," Bharti alleged.

"We installed the Amrit Bani Granth along with an idol of Guru Ravidass in the main hall of the temple on February 1," said Seth Satpal Mall while speaking to TOI. Asked why it was not installed earlier as he himself was very close to the dera, Seth Satpal said that they did not want to remove the Bir of Guru Granth Sahib and the main hall was under construction and there was no other reason. "Now the main hall is ready and we have installed the new granth there,' he added.

ravidassiya are friends and regardless of their differences i am willing to accept them...however dera ballan are dusht to the khalsa and to guruji...if anyone has had the privledge of speaking to these dusht like i have through the internet...you will know they are hell bent on taking guru granth sahib believeing ravidasiya out of the panth and forcing them tinto a new religion..any opposition from other ravidasiya is met with a firm hand..these dera ballan have basically hijacked the leadership of the ravidasiya community...if these people want to leave sikhi and confine themselves to bhagat ravidas bani like they are trying to do...then its their loss...they will loose any connection with guru granth sahib, with historical sikh literature, with sri dasam granth sahib ji and most importantly will be seperated from the khalsa and its amrit...i advise the sikhi believing ravidasiya to resist the actions of the dera balan

probably many freinds and a few with very little love for sikhs - i dont see the need to tar all with the same brush or to call anyone a foe.

if anything i think its time for dialogue to be opended up by respected pillars in our kaum - trouble is if this happened they'd be called gadars for sitting down with the enemy... i think sikhs are truly our own worst enemy (sorry for going off on a tangent)

tis my humble opinion

Dera Balan are Dushts and enemies of the Sikhs. The rest of the Ravidasias are not enemies. The still beleive in SGGS Jee. If Dera Balan want to install an artificial man made granth in place of a divinely created Granth then that is their loss. They will become bemukhs. The Dera Balan is very aggressively anti Sikh. In village Dhansi they had the audacity to do beadbi of a Nishan Sahib and do other beadbis in the Gurdwara like entering with their shoes on and uncovered head. But Sikhs are quiet on this because they dont want to offend the wider Chamar community as they know that Dera Balan is trying to pick a fight with the Sikhs so then a real rift can be created between the Sikhs and Chamars of Punjab and Dera Balan will then assume the leadership role of the Chamars. But the Dera Ballan is really pushing it. I hope that some soojhvaan people in the Chamar community rise up against the madness of these heretics of Dera Balan.

im partly agree with singhstah, our kaum has played a part in this situation...

any ideas how we can move to resolve or improve?

or is condemning others for their misgivings and causing problems in our own kaum going to be the legacy of the early 2000's??

I thinks its time to move to a more positive outlook and look at inspiring each other and people around us rather than asking questions such as the OP

Why exactly was the Baba in Vienna taken out?

for sitting above sri guru granth sahib ji and with his back facing guruji...when people were walking in..they would matha tek him and not maharaaj...he was warned many times...but didnt listen...and the funniest thing about it is..it was singhs from a chamar background who took him out...yet dera balaan still managed to blame so called higher caste sikhs...

friends they are sikhs, instead of dividing them you will stir them to hate guru nanak dev ji. People following manmat are attacking others following manmat where is the gurmat in all of this? It looks like the blind are leading the blind.

dera ballan are sikhs?...are you having a joke?...i dont think you know who the dera ballan are...

    • lol dal panth Panj told me explicitly not to associate with Vadhbhag Singh Sodhi followers!
    • We have lamp (or Jyot) the pure unscented candle for a reason. Traditionally, Patis used candle light (jyot), so they could read SGGS in darkness. Light, elec didn't exist. Dhoop is used to attract the "Good spirits" but also keep freshness where Maharaj will be.  Interestingly and coincidentally I heard Sakhi a few dsys ago. During Dasa Pitha's time these souls were roaming the Earth and even Sangat noticed. Maharaj asked them "y u here?" They replied during recitation of SGGS and making Degh they didn't bother lighting candle. THAT WAS THEE ONLY REASON NO GATI WAS GIVEN TO THEM!!!  AUTHENTICITY NOT CHECKED I heard once on YT like 2 days ago.  If u apply dhoop in one room of your house twice a week u will notice a difference esp in the smell and freshness of that room.
    • Sangat ji, With the hot weather as per Guru's Hukm, how can we look after our kes?  First of all the beard! Working in Construction, factory and any other heated environment I UNDERSTAND! At my workplace it's over 32 degree celcius and sometimes we have to lift 20kg ALL! DAY! My tips, regularly shampoo the beard during ishnan. APPLY OIL! The technique of applying oil is by rubbing it thoroughly in the roots. Pay attention to the noise esp on the chin. You will hear this "crosh crosh" noise. Keep rubbing oil until u can't hear it no more! This means the oil has blended in properly.  Second tip on beard, keep an extra kanga in your pocket. Every two, three hours give your beard a proper comb down to get rid of any sweat or stickiness. SECOND BENEFIT! Do this all 12 months every single day your beard will look like it's been professionally groomed. TRY IT! People will ask you "What gel u use? How can yer beard be naturally like that?" You can say all I use is coconut oil or whaeva oil but just comb the beard every 2-3 hours for a minute.  As for the kes, morning time get rid of all the gronjra (or knots - forgotten English word), in the morning. However, during evening comb down make sure you get rid of small remaining gronjra and comb yer hair nice and straight. You will feel soooo so relaxed. Yes our hair will go unnoticed due to Dastar, but our hair demands time and self grooming! So proper combing down, spending a good 15-20 mins most evenings is an absolute MUST!  Most evenings I let my hair down and cover hair with my parna for 2-3 hours so it gets to relax from the tying up.  FINAL TIP! We are Sikhs so we keep fighting and remember this! The tradition of Dastar and uncut hair started in India, where the weather is twice as hot. Everytime we bring this thought in the mind, Guru ji will bless us and make us feel cooled down by a notch.  Fateh.
    • Been so much nindya and attacking Shastarvidiya since the 2000s, however if we look at gatka now it's still mostly as poor and poorly taught as it was back then, still morris dancing moves and still behzti moves in BBC shows about sikhi and vaisakhi. If people were going to attack shastarvidiya, wouldn't have made sense to improve gatka instead and make it more effective? Additionally, the Nihang Singh presence has improved greatly now, and the cracks within the the SGPC and affiliated jatha jathebandis are showing more greatly as panth becomes more knowledgable with dasam bani and itihas day-by-day, so much gyaan which was lost within panjabi sikhs during colonial times. In the 2000s, the groups were able to talk down this bani and  gyaan by associating it with  RSS and hindus, brahminwaad etc. Not working so well now is it? However with gyaan it would be also good for us to try and preserve our martial arts and keertan vidiya as well! More and more crazy keertan videos are coming out from jatha members that are being made fun of and making sangat annoyed and upset, on tiktok and instagram reels.

Being from Punjab, almost every Sardaarji i know (amritdhari or not) sleeps/showers with their hair uncovered. I don't think Guru Sahib asked us to wear Dastar to sleep and I don't think it is in SRM.   The idea of "keski being worn to sleep" is cos in Bollywood films (Bachna Ae Haseeno) Sikh characters usually tie a gol parna when sleeping since the actor's usually Hindu. So they gotta cover his head somehow or he'd have cut hair. Same reason Diljit wore a pagg to bed in the El Sueno vid. Only time they didn't do that was in Gadar with Sunny Deol which just looked odd tbh   What in the world? What sikh or even a decent human would base their knowledge of their culture or religion on a movie industry, that too Bollywood?  Believe me, no sikh ever said, I must cover my head becasue an actor did so in a movie. I've been doing it all wrong, I must start covering mh head because the sikh in that movie did.  Just because every panjabi and sardaar you know, does something, also doesn't make it right..  Follow the guru. And if you have a medical condition, then exemptions can be made.  Just admit it, because of my medical condition, I am not able to follow this rehit. Why are you getting everyone else to drop to your level?
