SAACH KAHON SUN LEY O SABHE....JIN PREM KYO TIN HE PRABH PAEYO.

SGGSJi is not for sikhs alone, SGGSJi is for everyone(Muslim,Hindus,SIkhs.....so on). thats is why Guru Gobind singh ji telling SUN LEY O SABHE(Listen Everyone)...otherwise Guruji would have written...SUN LEYO SIKHO(only sikh).

PRahlad, Dhru, Hanuman,Kabeer,Farid, and all bahagts are Khalsa and true Gursikhs.

First it was Dasam Granth Sahib Ji now Guru Granth Sahib Ji.

Don't fall victim to these missionaries spewing venom against our banis.

jY jY kwr krin bRhmwid ]2] Prahlad, the saint, was born in the house of demon (King) Haranakhas like a lotus is born in the alkaline (barren) land.

When he was sent to seminary, the Brahmin purohit became elated (because the King’s son was now his disciple).

Prahlad would remember the name of Ram in his heart and outwardly also he would praise the Lord.

Now all the disciples became devotees of Lord, which was an awful and embarrassing situation for all the teachers.

The priest (teacher) reported or complained to the King (that O King your son has become devotee of God).

The malevolent demon picked up the quarrel. Prahlad was thrown into fire and water but with the grace of Guru (the Lord) neither he was burnt nor drowned.

Angered as he was, Hiranyaksyapu took out his double-edged sword and asked Prahlad who his Guru (Lord) was.

At the same moment Lord God in the form of man-lion came out of pillar. His form was grand and majestic.

That wicked demon was thrown down and killed and thus it was proved that the Lord is kind to devotees since the time immemorial.

Seeing this Brahma and other Gods started eulogising the Lord.(2)

This is pricely my point that was made in other thread, but lot of sikhs (missionary others alike) have this "Abrahamic' version of God because of victorian influence. They have no idea about sargun and nirgun and nirgun intertwined relatationship with sargun. There is nothing "hindu" about Vahiguroo transceding its attributes or immanent its attributes to sargun(shud satogun) avtars according to need and time. There are many different types of avtar (listen to sant gyani gurbachan singh ji bhindranwale on avtars in japji sahib katha)

Jab Jab Hot Arsat Apara

Tab Tab Deh Dharat Avtara (Bachitar Natak)

Whenever numerous tyrants take birth

Then that one takes avtar in physical form.

Every one should read 18 long pages anyalsis in english on avtarvad and sikhi by tirath singh nirmala in Bhavrasamrit teeka translations and commentary. It's very interesting and clarifies gurmat position on avtarvaad and clears lot of misconception.

Whilst gurmat uses concept of avtar where it needs to, according to time (puran hari avtar guidance etc, narsingh to kill harnakash and save parlad, nit avtars- saints etc) and for devotion for gurmukhs (sargun vahiguroo upma in our granths - sri guru granth sahib, sri dasam granth, sri sarbloh granth and other ithasik granths soraj parkash etc be it in form of gurbani tuks, mangal charan etc) it does not over emphasize importance on avtars to the point where sikhs start making same mistakes as some follower of other avtars did in the past have did - mistaking the gunas (shud satogun etc) themselves as nirgun chaitan vahiguroo instead of transcending naturally to gyan layer of sikhi or also idiolizing the avtars limited to an idol worshipping and getting stuck at idol worshipping forgetting indestructibale nirgun paratma. Hence, having dvait (duality) contary to Gurmat, as Gurmat is advait (non duality Marg).

Gurmat uses very careful and balance approach when it comes to avtarvad and Sikhi so sikhs don't pitfall like other followers of other dharams have. Gurbani contains two sides of same coin to teaching on avtar emphasing brahman (nirgun paratma) in sat chit anand ( Ad ant eko avtara sohi samjheo guru hamra) and on other side of coin presenting sargun paratma in form of our guru sahib to invoke devotion ie- prem.

Considered carefully there is no contradictions here on two sides of same coin on avtarvaad, its only clear guidance about the two paramaters by which to understand nature of avatar; the symbolic form is to inculate devotion, inspiration, adoration, love and sacrifice purely as a means to realise that which is beyond gunas

How would Gurmat refute the story of prahlad? I know it's mentioned in Bani but how is it viewed in difference to Hinduism?

Why don't you explain how it is against Gurmat in your opinion and how it is same as Hinduism. Your ambigous post does not let anyone help you

Why would you want to refute Dhru and Prahlaad Jee? These are Bhagats from the previous Yugs and since they are mentioned in Gurbani they are worthy of respect. By trying to refute these great Bhagats, you will only end up refuting Gurbani itself. Far from refuting them we need to take inspiration from them. Their saakhi can and should be told to our children to build faith in them about the power of Naam Simran. Where we can differ from Hindus is that the Hindus say they were worshipers of Vishnu, but in reality they were worshipers of Vaheguru. Hindus believe Pralaad was saved by Narsimha Avtar, but it was Vaheguru Jee's Shakti that worked through Narsimha and saved Bhagat Prahlaad.

    • yeh it's true, we shouldn't be lazy and need to learn jhatka shikaar. It doesn't help some of grew up in surrounding areas like Slough and Southall where everyone thought it was super bad for amrit dharis to eat meat, and they were following Sant babas and jathas, and instead the Singhs should have been normalising jhatka just like the recent world war soldiers did. We are trying to rectifiy this and khalsa should learn jhatka.  But I am just writing about bhog for those that are still learning rehit. As I explained, there are all these negative influences in the panth that talk against rehit, but this shouldn't deter us from taking khanda pahul, no matter what level of rehit we are!
    • How is it going to help? The link is of a Sikh hunter. Fine, but what good does that do the lazy Sikh who ate khulla maas in a restaurant? By the way, for the OP, yes, it's against rehit to eat khulla maas.
    • Yeah, Sikhs should do bhog of food they eat. But the point of bhog is to only do bhog of food which is fit to be presented to Maharaj. It's not maryada to do bhog of khulla maas and pretend it's OK to eat. It's not. Come on, bro, you should know better than to bring this Sakhi into it. Is this Sikh in the restaurant accompanied by Guru Gobind Singh ji? Is he fighting a dharam yudh? Or is he merely filling his belly with the nearest restaurant?  Please don't make a mockery of our puratan Singhs' sacrifices by comparing them to lazy Sikhs who eat khulla maas.
    • Seriously?? The Dhadi is trying to be cute. For those who didn't get it, he said: "Some say Maharaj killed bakras (goats). Some say he cut the heads of the Panj Piyaras. The truth is that they weren't goats. It was she-goats (ਬਕਰੀਆਂ). He jhatka'd she-goats. Not he-goats." Wow. This is possibly the stupidest thing I've ever heard in relation to Sikhi.
    • Instead of a 9 inch or larger kirpan, take a smaller kirpan and put it (without gatra) inside your smaller turban and tie the turban tightly. This keeps a kirpan on your person without interfering with the massage or alarming the masseuse. I'm not talking about a trinket but rather an actual small kirpan that fits in a sheath (you'll have to search to find one). As for ahem, "problems", you could get a male masseuse. I don't know where you are, but in most places there are professional masseuses who actually know what they are doing and can really relieve your muscle pains.
