Sikh Federation UK splits, Bhai Charan Singh, Bhai Kuldeep Singh Chaheru leave

Belonging to the panth, we should all find out why the jatha is splitting, get together as sangat, make the angry members become friends again between each other for the sake of the Panth.

We must not forget that as Sangat, 5 Singhs can command anyone to do as told. We need to stop a new jatha forming and keep everyone together. Baba Thakur Singh Ji united all the Jujharoo Jathebandhis but now what is this?

absolute shame - just a shame - just goes to show evven after all those woulds of 84 we cannot even stand together - as one -- this is the worst ever. Sikhs just don' tknow how to comminicate and are ignorant of communication and immature with bigged up egos over nothing what so ever.

As I said earlier it is a shame when someone i.e. Bhai Charan Singh leaves an organisation, however we should not be too negative. It is far worse when those doing seva for many years decide for personal or others reasons they have had enough and stay at home or worse put all their efforts into negative activities.

In this case Bhai Charan Singh and others would like to focus on other seva focused on Dharmic issues and presumably less on the work the Sikh Federation (UK) have been focused on over the last 10 years or so - lobbying and strengthening the SIkh voice on Sikh identity, human rights and Sikh homeland issues.

The only concerns are the way this has come about and the timing, which deflects from what the new organisation may want to achieve and will be perceived as damaging to the Sikh Federation (UK). But as said elsewhere the work of the Federation is too important and will continue with Maharajas Kirpa and new sevadars will and are coming forward.

If now the new group has decided to split let's hope they make a coordinated effort and work together instead of trying to work against each other like many splinter groups do when they first split they end up quarreling against the group they broke away from and the result is they both get weaker and lose credibility. So lets hope these two organizations don't pull each other down and instead do the right thing which is learn to work together for the betterment of the Sikhs.

Where there any announcements about what will be the key areas the Jatha will be working on and how they are to be structured?

There were all sorts of rumours that those with very different views might have attended and even spoke at the evnt - did any tensions emerge as a result of what was said or even who was there?

We have had excellent feedback about the Sikh Federation (UK) Convention:

Turnout higher than last year, Sikhs left behind in many towns as coaches were full.

Speeches by politicians and range of issues covered was very good.

Announcements about five regonal teams - each with a specific area of work will assit to get things done in the next 12 months.

Re-launch of Khalsa Human Rights and gathering of evidence long overdue, but bettter late than never.

Strategic alliances with human rights groups in the UK (Redress, Human Rights Watch) and North America (Sikhs For Justice, Voice For Freedom) - more to follow in next few months.

Stragtegic alliances with youth groups, such as, National Sikh Youth Federation (NSYF) where joint work will be undertaken on human rights and on the Sikh homleand issue.

Focus on ekta and unprecedented announcement of delay in announing the leadership team of the SIkh Federaion (UK) showed nimarta and left the door open to those who may have been pressured in recent days/weeks to take a different path.

Watched Sikh Channel last night, was suprised to see some of the people know working together, supporting the new Jatha, although they were all, the old federation Singhs.

Was told that the split was due to some in the SFUK supporting Baba Dharm Singh, who was sent by Baba Harnam Singh to collect funds for the 84 memorial being bulit by the Akal Takht. The splinter group does not support Baba Harnam Singh and has no time for Singh Sahib Bhai Jasbir Singh Rode. So was suprised to see IPD senior members supporting this group.

This is factionalism based on egos and plays into the 'hands of the Indian Intelligence agencies to discredit the Khalistan Movement. It is a shame that the Unity that Baba Taker Singh ji, inspired and created by his 'bachan' to all the Singhs supporting the Damdami Taksal to work together has been destoyed.

Not sure who is to blame but differences could have been worked out, by creating seperate projects and project teams rather than create an new organisation.

Hopefully all panthic organisations can still work together.

Did not watch Sikh Channel last night as we were driving back from Wolverhampton. Heard people like Parminder Singh Bal was alongside some senior IPD figures on the channel as well as the 'leadership' of the Dharm Judh Jatha. Parminder Singh Bal has openly spoken and written (in very colourful language) about many of the Dharmic issues that the Dharm Judh Jatha, IPD and Sikh Federation (UK) support and he opposes. He has said before he left the Sikh Federation (UK) because he did not get on with many of those who are now in the process of setting up the Dharm Judh Jatha. This is all very strange . . .

There are manyGursikhs who associate with the new Jatha or IPD who will be terribly confused and in some cases disgusted with what these 'elders' are up to. The only thing they have in common is a dislike, hate or resentment of the Sikh Federation (UK). All should reflect on Baba Thakur Singh Ji's bachan, how he united these Singhs and think carefully about the steps they have taken in recent times. The Sikh Federation (UK) has left the door open for like-minded people to unite, we all make mistakes, but with Maharaja's kirpa it is never too late to put ekta ahead of personal egos. Virtually all those who have left the Federation to do something new have looked back and regretted that move. As stated before the orgins and mission of the Federation is something that is much bigger than any number of individuals. The Federation can point to its work and this is why so many ordinary Sikhs support them in increasing numbers.
