Hari krishna gurmantar is passed down through pandits/gurus. So everyone has their guru someway or another.

There is a difference between false and true Gurus, I bet in your mind Gurbachana would be a guru in your mind, when we make compromises when do they end, the rapist Catholic Priests would also be accepted in your eyes.

Don't twist the meaning of Gurbani. In context of Gurbani it is Sikh Gurus NOT reference to Jesus, Hindus Gods or anyone else

satgur is Akal Purakh and Dhur ki Bani is the Ucharran of Sacha Sahib that can be the only definition...I thought about it Jesus cannot be Guru even for Christians as he failed to give naam to disciples despite baptism as he followed the Jewish Doctrine of the purity of Akal Purakh's naam couldn't/shouldn't be defiled by our saying it . so Yahweh was misspelt in Torah and Zorab to prevent this .He is referred in action name/qualitative name Elohim

Stop blaming other people. We need to make a change. There will be no Singh Sabha in Punjab that will bring Sikhi back. It is up to us, those in the west. The diaspora is influential and well established, it has the money, the power, the ability to make a change. This could be the generation, besides the Gurus, who can make the biggest impact on the future of Sikhi. Don't rely on other people. Don't sit there posting X Baba said this would happen. Do something about it. Work on your own Sikhi. Don't rely on some sants interpration of bani. Go look at Guru Ji yourself, listen to your Guru, then live what he tells you. Spread the word through your actions.

The Sikh institutions have failed our people. Once people of all backgrounds were flocking to join Sikhi. Low castes saw Sikhi as something that would help destroy inequality. Sikhi empowered people to fight tyranny and injustice. Now it seems as if our institutions are doing the oppressing. Many low castes feel isolated by our leaders. Please, those with money, intellectual skills, help movements. Create schools or hospitals in your area. Encourage Sikhi parchar in your area. Inspire people by living the Guru's word.

Singh Sabha wasn't just a political movement. It was an intellectual movement. This is what we need, we need parchar, we need research. We need to encourage debate in the panth. If someone has an opposing view on a topic, debate them. Don't start name calling, calling them an athiest or try to call them a non-Sikh. This isn't how anything grows. We need more discussion and debate on bani.

One of the best posts I read on this site in 2015 so far!

Lets look at why people get hooked on drugs? whats the real reason? Drugs temporary camouflage mind-tension, stress, anxiety, fear, loosen thoughts into liquid flowing not sticky and affect gives druggy individuals temporary high trance which is quite addictive like state where thoughts/mind tension does not bother them as they are rooted in temporary high trance like state.

I have done drugs in my youths before coming into sikhi. Nasha of drugs is not even close to .01% meditation trance states -bismaad in Sikhi.

Introduce first self awareness, meditation programs into punjab first to show druggy individuals that there is something far more superior nasha than temporary nasha like drug...far more superior which is naam simran, meditation with shabad. In this way, one should be able to root out drug problems.

While i appreciate sant ranjit singh dhandrianwale basic initial parchar in punjab but we need to realize basic parchar without incorporation with people living in experience gurbani higher states of meditation, consciousness becomes very dry, it wears off in people.

Thats is where radhaswamis beas take advantage of the situation- they give people spiritual experience even if its initial hyper ventilation, intial chakra experience- people gets off on drugs. They use that as parchar to push their agenda.

We need to see overall picture and introduce proper various meditation techniques incorporated with gurbani than just dry parchar in punjab.

Look around in other spiritual cultures for example in tibet. Tibet has virtual no drugs problems in the area as they-their culture are very deep rooted in dharma teaching and dharma meditation from early age. But now china is infusing drugs/drug cartel/drug money into tibet to destroy their spiritual culture.

veer ji ,

my experience with tibetans is they have a big hidden drinking and domestic abuse problem ...I heard many cases where women had to put up with husbands who would abandon them with nothing except bills and kids and then do their own thing come back occasionally to beat/abuse and then abandon again . it is a common cycle and very destructive .

the common thing that I can see across the board in the west in India and also in other locales is the detachment of parents from their sikh duties , people of my grandparent's generation were hyperaware of the sin of cutting a child's Kesh they might cut their own but they knew they had no rights to deny the next generation their heritage and God given roop. They would teach bani as part and parcel of daily life and not be ruled by money , TV, technology or socialising . The family came first .

These days kids are left to guess their path through life , kids are dumped off at school, at punjabi class, at kirtan class and the parents just hope something sticks ...some magic will occur and tyar bar tyar Singhs and Kaurs will spring forth . I was lucky in many respects that even though my parents were physically absent they still did their utmost to play kirtan in the home explain arth of the bani playing, fielded questions patiently, admitted when they were stumped and pointed us in the right direction to find the answers. Most don't get that help or sangat now
