Most "Sikhs", in fact, most adherents of most religions anywhere in the world know virtually nothing about the faith they claim to be a part of. So when you take this alongside the fact that the majority of the members on this forum appear to be from the UK, a very small, crowded island with a hysterical brand of multiculturalism and more Muslims than the rest of you have by far (almost 3 million against Canada's 1 million, America's 2.5 million and New Zealand's 41,000), the phenomenon of British "Sikh" girls running off with Muslims is unsurprising.

The rest of you are fortunate in your variables, that is all. America and Canada are big enough that people are not forced together into close proximity, and your own country, small though it is, is practically empty. You are not any more devout than we are.

America couldn't even be compared in the same way because of the Islamophobia. Also, having less of a faith means your more likely intermarriage like Judaism.

Don't Jews insist on the non-Jew converting to Judaism before a marriage takes place? I'm certain it's a pretty big deal for them, unless that's also one tradition that's been abandoned.

Interestingly with Jews, the lineage goes through the mother. Which means that if a Father is a non - jew and the mother is a jew, the children follow the Jewish faith.

Most Jewish preachers actually support interfaith marriage, not forcing the spouse to convert and give-up tradition. The Judaism of the Torah doesn't even exist in modern times: there is a new group called the Messianic Jews.

Take a look at Anila Dhami (@AnilaDhami): https://twitter.com/AnilaDhami?s=09

New petition called "Not in Nanak's Name"

"The Sikh Holy Book includes writings from other Holy Books including the Koran", says Ms Dhami

Ignoramus. A lot of these liberal Sikhs agitating for sweeping reform don't seem to know anything about the religion they are so keen to dissect. If she knew anything about Sikhi she would realize that only Sri Akaal Takhat Sahib has the power to legitimize any move with respect to conduct within Gurdware. The Malik of Miri Piri himself declared thusly. Petitions be damned.

Are you saying the problem of interfaith marriage is even more widespread there? Has it affected the Sikhs as it has the Jews?

Actually the problem is about the same, except people here don't go around mating with Muslims because of Islamophobia. Also Jews have quit about caring about interfaith marriage since its a battle they've already lost.

I'm not surprised by that given the potency of the Christian-right in America, and the hysteria whipped up by the government-controlled media in order to the legitimize illegal wars in the Middle-East.

Shame about the Jews. Their ancestors struggled manfully to preserve their distinct identity.

To answer this we need to first ask Why Have The Sikhs In INDIA Failed To Follow The Basics Of Sikhi.

The averager resident in punjab can speak and read the language so there's nothing stopping them in connecting with Gurbani, they have alot of Itihasic land from which they can gain inspiration.
