Well, I am a Sikh, but was born in Canada, and our culture has a strong presence, nothing changed that much. The only things is just that we speak English, and do our Western things. We still believe in our heritage, and faith. I know that we have a drug problem in Punjab, and my mothers cousin had a drug problem, but luckily, he is at rehab. Thanks to Whaeguru. But, I think that the parents of these youth should teach their kids about the effects of drugs, and what will happen.

Quantavius bro we already have such an organisation in place - the SGPC. The problem is it is riddled by corruption so we have to peacefully seize back control or set-up a parallel organisation which

There's no regulation in Punjab as far as im aware. Drugs, booze and everything are rife. Corruption further makes it easier for people to exploit the masses with these substances. Even Sikh philosophy is being tampered with. Everything the Guru Sahib fought against are now being added back. In the west however there's a nice presence of Sikhs who are sort of filtering out the badness that's being mixed into Sikhism. People like BasicsOfSikhi are slowly but surely providing people with information on what true Sikhism is. Even forums help.

My,My for someone born in Canada your love for Sikhism (or atleast your enthusiasm) is a refreshing thing to see.

If you don't mind me asking, how old are you.

People like Badal cause corruption everywhere.

¿This is a Sikh forum isn't it?

I don't know about you, but when someone with the username 'CanadianSingh' feels compelled to consistently reminds others he's a Sikh at the beginning of most of his posts... well, it speaks for itself, don't you think so?

The migration of Sikhs out of India in my opinion is the highest in post millenium than it has been in any other era.

The inward migration of non-Sikhs from other states also plays a big factor.

One question no body asks is whether the native Hindu Punjabi population in decline?

The censuses give figures for migrants to each state.

If we look at Punjab in 1991 there were a total of 1,126,149 people born in other states of India in Punjab. This figure excludes those born in Pakistan and who migrated in 1947. As there was migration of Sikhs from other states after 1984 then some of these migrants were Sikhs. The usual figure given for these migrants is about 50,000. If we take the Sikhs away from the above figure but add to this figure 11,350 who were migrants from Nepal then the number of these migrants were 1,087,500.

So in 1991 if we take away the migrants from the Hindu figures then -;

6989226-1087500 = 5901726 / 19194469 (pop. of Punjab minus no. of migrants) = 30.74%

If we do the same for 2001

8997942 - 1724675 = 7273267 / 22634324 = 32.13%

So the Hindu Punjabis did increase without the migrant population, but the 1991 census did have the added issue of many Hindus listing themselves as Sikhs because of the Kharkoo movement there.

Interestingly, if these migrant population is excluded as above, the Sikhs would have been 66% of Punjab population in 1991 and 64.4% in 2001. The decrease has already been explained above. These are figures which exclude the Sikh migrants who left Punjab for abroad so if they had stayed then it is likely that the Sikh population would have been 75% in Punjab.

The migrant figures haven't been released for 2011 census.

Not really a Death Note fan, but still understand your basic message. If someone is non-Sikh on their forum then they just say it as well.

I assume some folk must enjoy worse stuff than GTA at 13.

The migrant figures haven't been released for 2011 census.

So by these figures, the Hindu Punjabi slightly increased in 2001 compared to 1991. I guess will just have to wait until the migrant figures come out for 2011.

It would be interesting to see the breakdown between urban and rural also.

I wonder what the impact of a lower Sikh population would have on the Hindu Punjabi population.

If the hindi speaking Bhaiyas and bihari are swamping Punjab and become the majority (hypothetically speaking), would the Hindu Punjabi get assimilated?

I could see some regret and remorse from certain sections of the Hindu Punjabi population. However, It would probably suit the purpose of the vested interests of the Central government.

But this could backfire as Muslims from UP and Bihar would also move in and communal conflicts between Hindus and Muslims would spread into Punjab and with Pakistan would also stir the pot being only next door.

Then you have this Christian evangelism and they would also be added into the mix with other foreign vested interests looking to break India ( this is part of the issue in India ' s north east region).

This is all theory of course.

    • Lol. Way to be late to the party there Ravi.
    • The liberal mafia attacking Amaan Baali because he committed the ultimate sin of standing up for the Sikh community in Kashmir and told the truth of the grooming of Sikh girls. Let's look at the background of these liberals who are now attacking Amaan. Monica Gill - failed model latched on to the Farmers agitation in order to gain more exposure and credibility. On the grooming of the Sikh girls in Kashmir she was solidly on the side of the paedophiles. She promoted the Quint narrative that the Sikh girl was an adult even when the paedophile admitted that he had started to target her when she was 12/13. Her sister apparently 'researched' the grooming of Sikh girls in Kashmir and found 'no evidence'!  Ravi Singh KA - we all know about him and his liberal agenda and his main focus on using the Panth's money to help our enemies and gain him a Nobel prize.  This Angadh Singh Khalsa guy - another liberal mupp.et using the Sikh identity to further the cause of the Jihadis. here's an article about him- his main claim to fame- being a dhimmi and helping in the Kashmiri plan to turn Kashmir into an Islamic state like Afghanistan. What could possibly go wrong for Kashmiri Sikhs when that happens? His views on the grooming of Sikhs - he is 'nuanced'! How Kashmir's Fraught Political Journey Led a Young Sikh Man Into Activism (thewire.in) You can judge the value of a person to the Panth by knowing the background of the people  who are attacking him.
    • Is that Surrinder Shinda in the video?
    • There is a new Muslim bhangra singer from UK called Raf Saperra. Not only has he made a music video where he is lusting after and flirting with a Sikh girl who has a prominently displayed kada, but the song has been produced by so called Sikh Sukhshinder Shinda and the background of the video is full of so called Sikhs wearing kaday, egging on the Muslim singer to flirt with the Sikh girl and sing about her lustfully. Astonishingly there is an old Baba with a long white dhari and white dastaar in the video as well.  I have not seen one comment on the YouTube page that is concerned about this. I have also noticed that as part of his image in general this singer has avoided highlighting he is a Muslim, only reluctantly alluding to being from West Pakistan during an interview when asked.  Instead our so called Sikh people are all backing him up and featuring in his videos wearing huge kaday while holding alcohol bottles. There is a blurring of lines here with regards to identity which is normally used by this group to take advantage of our people. Our own people are stupidly helping this cause.   There are a few of his bhangra videos which also feature smoking (Muslim Pakistani  culture) which will probably confuse Apne thickos into thinking this is now a normal part of our own culture. They are making bhangra videos without making it clear they are Muslims and subtly putting their own culture into it. What has happened to these people's zameer?   This is the video.
