*** Sikhs @ Speakers Corner #1 - Hyde Park *** Basics Of Sikhi

Recommended Posts

I really liked it. Usually i hate watching the street parchar videos. They made me cringe. N were boring with same repeated info in an excited way when audience usually dont care. But this was fantastic. The arguments from the audience and Jugraj Singh were great. There was a real connection and real learning going on.

I dont have a problem with him. Its just parchar sounds so Christiany. And it sounds like were always bigging ourselves up and bragging about langar and how khalsa is supposed to stop tyranny n help the poor. And constantly having to say oh were not trying to convert u. It makes me cringe. Cuz not only does it make us sound like some jehovah witness. But how many sikhs follow these ideals? Who have we saved from tyranny? Poverty? Khalsa aid. Yes but its a charity n charities from all religions r good. U know it just sounds like we only telling about our good idealistic stuff. N that makes me cringe. Even tho i know we have to do it. And we shud do it cuz ppl still think we r muslims n stuff....but its just a personal reaction. Thats why i woyld rather watch other videos of BoS than streer parchar

When in the west, you have to understand the western mindset and do parchaar accordingly.

I think what you don't realise perhaps is those other religions help their own or with conditions , whereas Khalsa Aid is nishkam therefore true charity. Instead 80+ percent going to the actual people suffering it is most charities MO to use that on admin etc . I am not saying there should n't be spending on that but it should be minimal

You know that Christian missionaries will only help you if you decide to join their faith right?

I liked it until I heard him say we are not here to convert anyone or Sikhs dont want to convert people. That is a huge mistake and a face in palm moment.

Never ever tell the non-sikh you dont want to convert them otherwise whats the point of parchar and of Sikhi. The very mission of Sikhi is to convert people away from their abrahmic cults and atheist mindsets and worship towards true God Waheguru and his true religion Sikhi.

The way we convert people to Sikhi is diferent from abrahmic cultists but our mission should be the same to increase our numbers because the more Sikhs there are the more sewa we can do for needy people the more society will benefit for good.

This much cringing is not healthy my friend. We should be cringing when we were not doing any parchar while everyone was doing there's. Parchar is not just one guy sitting on a stage giving a lecture in front of a thousand people. Sometimes these types of one on one street parchar or a parcharak speaking to a small handfull of people is more effective to spreading the message.

I'm sure Jugraj Singh would be happy if someone became a GurSikh; however, I don't think he's too dependent on that happening.

    • Modi in theory should what's best for India. The issue here is that he is beholden to various lobbies like the large Indian corporates and Oligarchs like Ambani.  Ambani's interests do not lie in what is best for India's interests but to himself and his shareholders and to the globalist elites that he is probably a member of. India's has banned a lot of Chinese apps because they do not want their population to be subverted by Chinese interests.  However, that does not mean that india does not do business on the sly with China behind everybody's backs. The likes of Ambani will still do business covertly even if overtly China is adversarial.  That is why it's important to watch what they do, not what they say.
    • The Indian media would have to spin that to an incredible degree, to make it seem as if Modi has a plan that ultimately benefits India even when dealing with a geopolitical adversary such as China, especially since what happened between the two sides a few months ago as well as the ongoing propaganda war between the two.
    • Hey everyone, I'm new to this site and this is my first post. I recently got into Sikhi and for the last 4 months, I have been so into reading history and prayer as well. What I don't understand is different websites. Panj bani paath is what I don't understand. Are the five...3 in morning 1 evening 1 at night. Or is there 5 in the morning and then 1 in evening and 1 at night. 2 or 3 websites contradict each other. Which ones do we have to read. I'm so confused. Please don't laugh or judge me.    What are the 5 and when do you do them?    Some say 3 in morning and some say 5. Is 5 all in morning or are the 5 altogether in total throughout the day?  Is it: Japji sahib, Jaap sahib, tav-prasad savaiye in morning and then rehras and kirtan sohila (are these the 5?)    Or is it:   Japji sahib, Jaap sahib, tav-prasad savaiye AND chaupai sahib and anand sahib in morning (are these the 5?) And then rehras and kirtan sohila in the evening time.      Thank you
    • Privatisation can also mean foreign players can come onto the scene.  China is buying swathes of land in Africa and elsewhere to grow food, they could do the same in India. New Zealand bulk of agriculture goes to China. What if these companies decide to sell food produced to China for higher prices and not to local market?
    • Do you know what other system other than MSP is present. I can see this game played by opening up the market to private corporations. You see the same scam played with privatisation of other sectors. It looks like that you open up the market and seems to be "free" market. What will happen is small operators get swallowed up and eventually gets controlled by a few big players.  You get less players and less competition. The smaller players will close their farms and you end up mass industrial farms with bonded labourers.  It is going back to a feudal system by another name. You have Mr Ambani with his Reliance retail stores. He will squeeze the all suppliers like Tesco does in the UK. Those farmers will be forced to sell their land to him.  He will control the production of food and the sale of it to the public.  If him and his cronies start to control the price, they will push all those small retail stores that sell food and they will be put out of business.  He and his ilk will control everything.  That cannot be allowed to happen.
