Sikh Empire; Alternate History.

Recommended Posts

18th Century:

In this alternate history, I am starting after all the Sikh Misls had united under Maharaja Ranjit Singh. In this time line , Sikh Kings were not tolerant, any and all gaddars and enemies were killed without a thought. This Maharaja Ranjit Singh looked toward the future of the raj after his death and planned it so. The Maharaja did not invite anyone into the inner circle except strict Sikhs, aka Nihangs and those who had no alternate motivations except the far and wide rule of Sikh Fauj. In this scenario the king knew all about the dogra's trecherous nature, so he invaded and routed and slaughtered all dogras while annexing kashmir full into the sikh raj, rather than keeping it a vessle in the real time line. Further more, Sikhs were far more aggressive about converting all non sikhs into the khalsa fauj. People were given land and rewards when they converted and embraced khalsa. This way, Sikhs would've made up the majority of the empire  in a 100 yrs . Maharaja Ranjit Singh had started training his grandson Nau Nihal Singh to takeover his empire after his death in the future. So when the time came, Nihal would've been ready. In this time line , Sikh Empire is at it's peak and the maharaja is close to his death. But Nihal is fully ready to serve the Fauj. In this time line , the snakes never showed their heads since all faucets of the empire were made up of very sikh aspects. There was no terrible transition period between Rajit Singh's death and Nau Nihal's crowning. The british never saw a chance to strike , so they stayed at bay.

Soon after taking over for his grandfather, Nau Nihal wanted to expand his rule, so he invaded Sindh and baluchistan , conquering both easily. The sikhs and british made further treaties into their allience and the british decided to hand  Haryana and Himachal to the Sikhs to show friendship. Meanwhile, the russians were looking to expand further down central asia and were looking to take Afganistan, the british decided to help sikhs Annex Afganistan , so russia never had a chance. Nau Nihal started his war against afgans, and with a rapidly industralizing Sikh Fauj and British weapons, the SIkhs easily defeated the very tribal and backwards afgans , this also led to the genocide of majority pathan population . Upwards of a million pathans were massacared by the Sikh army, though Sikhs didnt feel bad, as the afgans had slaughtered Sikhs in 17th century . Soon Sikhs had a huge landmass  for themselves, but they still weren't satisfied. The russians were coming, they wanted acess to the warm sea port into the indian ocean and didn't think the Sikhs couldn't defeat russian might. So the Sikh - Russo war started in 1893. Sikhs had been industrilizing since the start of 18th century and had much superior weapons and military system , that was developed with the help of the french and british. Sikhs easily defeated the russians and took over much of their central asian countries, uzbekistan, turkmenistan, parts of kazakstan were handed to the Sikhs and Europe took notice of this new superpower.

19th Century

Sikhs expanded into africa, and made gains in Somalia and eritria . During WW1 , Sarkar I Khalsa sided with the brits  /allies but mostly stated out of the conflict, helping the allies with weapons / supplies and access through Sikh controlled areas.  However the Khalsa Fauj had it's own ambitions. Maharaja Ranjit the 2nd , son of Nau Nihal Singh wanted to take over tibet due to it's vast resources of mineral and plenty of fresh water. China itself was being destroyed by Japan and couldn't fight on two fronts and the Sikhs had a treaty with japan and so were able to annex Tibet.

WW2 , Sikhs again were friendly with brits / Allies and stayed mostly out of the war while protecting their african colonies . By 1940 , and the end of WW 2. Sikhs had grown to 100 million strong, made up majority in all the lands they controlled . Sikhism was now the 3rd largest religion after Christiany and islam, through the 19th and start of the 20th century , Sarkar - E - Khalsa stayed a monarchy, with the blood lines of the Original Maharaja Ranjit staying in power. Sikhs made out of WW2 with rich and with very few casulties, Sikhs never took part in battles in Europe and mainly just protected their assets. Sikhs had also loaned millions of dollars to the allies and very now the 3rd largest economy in the world by the end of WW2. With the end of Nazi empire , many nazi scientist were looking refuge outside germany, many escaped to USA and helped create the Atom Bomb and Sikh Empire had also given refuge to many of them in turn that they help create atom bombs for SIkhs. With the end of colonialism, european countries left Africa , along with the Sikh Empire, however, during that time , Sikhs had made converted all of east africa in to the Khalsa and thus and friendly relations with their former colonies. BY the end of 19th century, Sarkar E Khalsa was the 2nd largest economy after USA.

21st Century

As for 2018, Sikh Empire is a nuclear superpower along with being one of the wealthiest countries in the world. Former British india is now split in 2 with Marathas and Rajputs controlling the subcontinent. Sarkar E Khalsa has friendly ties with both.

The Flag of Sarkar E Khalsa has a Navy Blue background with a dark orange Khanda in the middle, and with 2 roaring Lions , one of each side of the khanda and a Eagle standing on the Khanda with it's wings spread out.

Not sure how in line with Sikhi that history is.

Still, Khalistan Zindabad!

Welcome to the forum, I hope you keep posting.

Very interesting thought experiment, and I do agree that we'd be sitting pretty if the Maharaja had not been so fantastically stupid.

It is agreed by all (including the British) that we only lost before the British by a hair. If we had won, we would have basically been a power like the British in India, except that we would have been indigenous, and therefore there couldn't have been the same kind of "Quit India, you don't belong here" movement against Sikh rule against us.

We could definitely have taken over great expanses of territory, and most importantly, a route to the sea. The foreign empires/Africa is a bit fanciful, but we definitely would have had an intact empire, flourishing numbers, a route to the sea, and industrialization. You have all that, and you basically have a great power, like France or so. Or Japan.

    • We have lamp (or Jyot) the pure unscented candle for a reason. Traditionally, Patis used candle light (jyot), so they could read SGGS in darkness. Light, elec didn't exist. Dhoop is used to attract the "Good spirits" but also keep freshness where Maharaj will be.  Interestingly and coincidentally I heard Sakhi a few dsys ago. During Dasa Pitha's time these souls were roaming the Earth and even Sangat noticed. Maharaj asked them "y u here?" They replied during recitation of SGGS and making Degh they didn't bother lighting candle. THAT WAS THEE ONLY REASON NO GATI WAS GIVEN TO THEM!!!  AUTHENTICITY NOT CHECKED I heard once on YT like 2 days ago.  If u apply dhoop in one room of your house twice a week u will notice a difference esp in the smell and freshness of that room.
    • Sangat ji, With the hot weather as per Guru's Hukm, how can we look after our kes?  First of all the beard! Working in Construction, factory and any other heated environment I UNDERSTAND! At my workplace it's over 32 degree celcius and sometimes we have to lift 20kg ALL! DAY! My tips, regularly shampoo the beard during ishnan. APPLY OIL! The technique of applying oil is by rubbing it thoroughly in the roots. Pay attention to the noise esp on the chin. You will hear this "crosh crosh" noise. Keep rubbing oil until u can't hear it no more! This means the oil has blended in properly.  Second tip on beard, keep an extra kanga in your pocket. Every two, three hours give your beard a proper comb down to get rid of any sweat or stickiness. SECOND BENEFIT! Do this all 12 months every single day your beard will look like it's been professionally groomed. TRY IT! People will ask you "What gel u use? How can yer beard be naturally like that?" You can say all I use is coconut oil or whaeva oil but just comb the beard every 2-3 hours for a minute.  As for the kes, morning time get rid of all the gronjra (or knots - forgotten English word), in the morning. However, during evening comb down make sure you get rid of small remaining gronjra and comb yer hair nice and straight. You will feel soooo so relaxed. Yes our hair will go unnoticed due to Dastar, but our hair demands time and self grooming! So proper combing down, spending a good 15-20 mins most evenings is an absolute MUST!  Most evenings I let my hair down and cover hair with my parna for 2-3 hours so it gets to relax from the tying up.  FINAL TIP! We are Sikhs so we keep fighting and remember this! The tradition of Dastar and uncut hair started in India, where the weather is twice as hot. Everytime we bring this thought in the mind, Guru ji will bless us and make us feel cooled down by a notch.  Fateh.
    • Been so much nindya and attacking Shastarvidiya since the 2000s, however if we look at gatka now it's still mostly as poor and poorly taught as it was back then, still morris dancing moves and still behzti moves in BBC shows about sikhi and vaisakhi. If people were going to attack shastarvidiya, wouldn't have made sense to improve gatka instead and make it more effective? Additionally, the Nihang Singh presence has improved greatly now, and the cracks within the the SGPC and affiliated jatha jathebandis are showing more greatly as panth becomes more knowledgable with dasam bani and itihas day-by-day, so much gyaan which was lost within panjabi sikhs during colonial times. In the 2000s, the groups were able to talk down this bani and  gyaan by associating it with  RSS and hindus, brahminwaad etc. Not working so well now is it? However with gyaan it would be also good for us to try and preserve our martial arts and keertan vidiya as well! More and more crazy keertan videos are coming out from jatha members that are being made fun of and making sangat annoyed and upset, on tiktok and instagram reels.

Being from Punjab, almost every Sardaarji i know (amritdhari or not) sleeps/showers with their hair uncovered. I don't think Guru Sahib asked us to wear Dastar to sleep and I don't think it is in SRM.   The idea of "keski being worn to sleep" is cos in Bollywood films (Bachna Ae Haseeno) Sikh characters usually tie a gol parna when sleeping since the actor's usually Hindu. So they gotta cover his head somehow or he'd have cut hair. Same reason Diljit wore a pagg to bed in the El Sueno vid. Only time they didn't do that was in Gadar with Sunny Deol which just looked odd tbh   What in the world? What sikh or even a decent human would base their knowledge of their culture or religion on a movie industry, that too Bollywood?  Believe me, no sikh ever said, I must cover my head becasue an actor did so in a movie. I've been doing it all wrong, I must start covering mh head because the sikh in that movie did.  Just because every panjabi and sardaar you know, does something, also doesn't make it right..  Follow the guru. And if you have a medical condition, then exemptions can be made.  Just admit it, because of my medical condition, I am not able to follow this rehit. Why are you getting everyone else to drop to your level?
    • Wasn't Guru Arjan Dev's martyrdom on amd always commemorated on 6th June? How come it was 30th May?  Just like 6th June 84, where the likes of Terrorists like Indira Gandhi chose to attack Darbar Sahib where many many innocent Sikhs would suffer, as they went to commemorate Martyrdom of Maharaj.
