So many simpletons on this site. For those who have understanding difficulties, let me make it as easy to digest as I can.

There is a strict curfew in place at the moment in Punjab. You need a pass to get around it.

These criminals first broke the curfew and then tried to run away like mice when challenged.

Then attacked an unarmed cop and chopped off his hand.

Now they have been arrested and will live happily after behind bars.

Sikhs only raise their weapons for defending the downtrodden not for attacking over vegetables.

Feel free to ask if this is still too difficult to comprehend.

Okay well what if nobody has the food they need and you ask for a pass and you dont get it and nobody is getting one?

When you say broke curfew...they did what exactly? Elaborate.

When challenged they ran like mice? Like did you want them to fight or nah?  Like you sound like you're goading them.

The cops were clearly armed bro and beating the <banned word filter activated> out of them and their truck...

Over vegetables?  What about regular food supply for everybody?  You think they'd do that if they could have simply waited til the next day?  Like you think they said shoot boys we were gonna go buy food today but missed it...well lets go run a blockade?

saka guru ka bagh research it , and realise that they are not allowing guru ka langar to get shut down , they don't want our sikh households to get help , just the outsiders who are sitting on stashes of over 100kg of dry rations per family group and stay phoning singhs saying we are hungry, dirty politics going on .

The responses on this thread are shocking.

What could possibly invoke a response to severe a hand of a man who is upholding the law? What could possibly justify such a barbaric criminal act?

India is under a stringent lockdown  - for their own benefit. The driver was simply asked to show his pass which is required when a curfew is in place.

These people are nowhere to be seen when the Sikh nation is under attack, but a copper asks for a curfew pass and he amputated the poor man's hand.

I'm glad to see that the Buddha Dal has condemned this act of criminality, which is more that can be said by most of the people in this thread

I don't agree with nihangs on some things but this is what Nihangs are. You cannot treat Nihangs like the average person. They live by their own rules. They don't pay tolls in India. Even during the life of maharaja Ranjit Singh a European account of the Nihangs tells a story of a Nihang who wanted to see M Ranjit Singh. The Maharaja's bodyguards stopped him rudely. The Nihangs took out his sword and decapitated his hand in retaliation.

This is what the Nihangs have been doing since the start. Only Taksalis can mess with Nihangs and get away with it.

If Akali Phula Singh was alive and these police men had stopped him and talked with him rudely how do you think Akali Phula Singh ji would have reacted? All of them police officers would be dead in seconds.

what a load of rubbish ... three people attacked so why 9 men and one female's arrest from INSIDE a gurdwara....you do not need the whole police thana out I counted 11 officers mostly armed with shotte. They knew these guys had been doing sewa in gurdwara of langar and giving to locals , else how would they know to stand there in such a ridiculously large group. And they have just piled together stuff ready for the multiple cameras odon social distancing kitte si ?

This thread is in danger of turning from the ridiculous to fantasy.

Buddha Dal has already disowned these criminals. It's a shame some fantasists on this thread are living in cuckoo land.

The police are there to enforce the law. No one is above the law.

you do know that you can only apply for a pass online ...and that this is all happening in rural punjab , that beat man senseless the other day because his heavily pregnant wife needed medicine in an emergency , he was unable to obtain a pass because of his location and wealth level. Can't you see that sikhs are again being made into targets . Have you not read and seen the vile mudslinging on Sikh by Indian media after the same false stories about Baldev Singh were repeated adding another 10,000 people each time for masala? These stories are being made by Govt because first place I read it was aljazeera and BBC before Indian press same day.

    • I agree we're not born with sin like the Christians think. Also I agree we have effects of karma. But Gurbani does state that the body contains both sin and charity (goodness): ਕਾਇਆ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਪਾਪੁ ਪੁੰਨੁ ਦੁਇ ਭਾਈ ॥ Within the body are the two brothers sin and virtue. p126 Actually, we do need to be saved. Gurbani calls this "udhaar" (uplift). Without Satguru, souls are liable to spiritual death: ਜਿਨਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਨ ਭੇਟਿਓ ਸੇ ਭਾਗਹੀਣ ਵਸਿ ਕਾਲ ॥ p40 Those who have not met Satguru Purakh are unfortunate and liable to death. So, yeah, we do need to be saved, and Guru ji does the saving. The reason Satguru is the one to save is because God has given Satguru the "key" (kunji): ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਹਥਿ ਕੁੰਜੀ ਹੋਰਤੁ ਦਰੁ ਖੁਲੈ ਨਾਹੀ ਗੁਰੁ ਪੂਰੈ ਭਾਗਿ ਮਿਲਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੭॥ In the True Guru's hand is the key. None else can open the door. By perfect good fortune the Guru is met. p124
    • That's unfortunate to hear. Could you give any more information? Who was this "baba"? He just disappeared with people's money? Obviously, you should donate your money to known institutions or poor people that you can verify the need of through friends and family in Punjab.
    • Sangat ji,  I know a family who went Sevewal to do seva sometimes end of 2019. They returned last year in great dismay and heart broken.  To repent for their mistakes they approached panj pyaare. The Panj gave them their punishment / order to how t make it up which, with Kirpa, they fulfilled.  They were listening to a fake Baba who, in the end, took all the "Donations " and fled sometime over a year ago. For nearly 4 years this family (who are great Gursikhs once u get to know them) wasted time and effort for this fake Baba. NOT ONLY this one fam. But many, many did worldwide and they took their fam to do seva, in village Sevewal, city Jaitho in Punjab. In the end many families lost money in thousands being behind this Baba. The family, on return, had to get in touch with all the participants and told them to stop.  I am stating this here to create awareness and we need to learn from whom we follow and believe. It's no easy but if we follow the 3 S (Sangat, Simran and Seva) we will be shown the light. As I am writing this the family in question have been doing the same since 2008 onwards and they fell for this Baba... it is unbelievable and shocking.  This am writing in a nutshell as am at work on my break so not lengthy but it deserves a great length.  Especially the family in question, who shed light on youngsters about Sikhi 20 plus years!!
    • Giani Kulwant Singh Jawaddi Kalan uses simple Punjabi.
    • Leaving aside Guru ji, the general question of taking afeem (opium) in limited quantities for war/medical wounds is simply unproblematic. When you go to the hospital, they give you morphine. What do you think morphine is? It's an opiate. Even codeine (cough syrup) is an opiate! Ever had a cough? Granted, it is against Gurmat to take opium or other drugs for the fun of it.
