Setting up off grid eco village

Eco village can use renewable electricity and can have couple of laptops with a Facebook page.

It can also use modern natural farming techniques like permaculture.

So eco village doesn't mean you totally ignore modern scientific know how or technology.

I think eco villages are the best of both worlds. You need science to test methods/soil/water etc.  I think it heavily involves tech myself. Just not the polluting type. 

Also, a lot of energy is used up on heating up of property. 

Given the amount of sunshine there - solar panels and using natural heat would be a lot more feasible there, than say in the UK.

Living off-grid is tough but good for both self-soul and earth. There are two types of folks who prefer to live off-grid: 

1. Serious interest in saving planet
2. Doing it for your own life to live off-screen and materialist world

If i have a choice to pick, it would be # 2.

Hmm thought we were ment to live in the material world, and not exclude ourselves to secluded habitats.

Yes we are supposed to live a grishti jeevan and cannot just abandon everything and go into forest lands like sahdus of those times. However, judging by the history of our gursikhs, we do notice that they often go to quieter place for meditation. Be it bhora/gufa (underground), fields, forest and even mountains. 

I do have a cabin but i use it once a month basis which gives a break from daily stress/headache and most importantly live and spend time with the nature. If i have a choice to live off-grid permanently then it would be to stay away from "no-privacy" world and it will be mostly for the betterment of the kids.
